Murelia for MoC
#1

Since the Ministry of Culture is one of my favorite ministries and I wanted to join the cabinet at one point, I have decided to run. I have been in the ministry for seven months, and in that time I have helped with multiple interregional events as well as invent the popular Cards against Nationstates saturdays. I have had ideas on how to improve the Ministry of Culture for quite a long time, so it's great that I can finally use them in this campaign. But first, I should show you my Conflict of Interest.
Conflict of Interest

I have joined NationStates in 12th of April 2021 with my first nation, Murelia, which was founded in the South Pacific. After that, I have never on purpose left the region. I have next to no involvement in other regions. Currently, my only active puppets are Mechelen, Cambaluc and Drenthe, who are currently in my ambassador regions or unused, but will be used as defender puppets.

Plans
Of course a campaign is not complete without good plans. If elected, I will do my best to achieve them as quickly as possible. I have made a list of them for your convenience. After this, I will be giving more detail about the different categories of MoC these fall into and why we need them.
  • Creating new interregional events
  • Making games more accesible by choosing variating times
  • Sharing the Culture Calendar when it is finished
  • Reminding people of games earlier than when they are already starting
  • Creating a seperate channel for the games and events role on Discord
  • Well-prepared theme thursdays
  • Getting TSP roleplayers to participate and help in events
Events
In short: I want to encourage interregional events.

In full: Interregional events are my favorite part of MoC, so I definitly want to promote and increase the amount of them. I think interregional events always help to increase our publicity in NationStates, and they are of course enjoyed by the participaters too. I am always open for ideas to start more, and I even have a couple of ones planned already, though unfortunatly I am not able to share these yet.
Games
In short: Games will be available to more time zones, and there will be a seperate channel for them.

In full: To improve participation in games, I have multiple ideas.

I have had interest in participating in some games, but due to timezone differences I have never had the chance to. I believe others have this problem as well, so I would like to solve that. I will talk to MoC staff to see if they can host the games at different times so the time they are hosted is spread out more, meaning more people will participate.

I also believe a reason for low participation is that people might not be aware that games are coming. I will share the culture calendar in the announcements channel on Discord a couple of days after the last edit. Another solution for unawareness about games is notifying the Games and Events role at the start of the day, and not when it is already starting.

My last idea to improve games is to create a seperate channel for the Games and Events role on Discord. The primary reason for this is that the trivia games are regularly hosted in a channel for bot commands, and I think hosting them there causes confusion. I think making a new channel is a good solution for that problem. It is also easier to talk in that channel instead of the other channels since there will be no other conversations going on.

That aside, I have also prepared a list of themes for theme thursday so I always have a theme ready.
Roleplay
In short: MoC will be more engaging with the roleplay community.

In full: I have touched on every part of MoC apart from roleplay. I have noticed that we used to announce regional and interregional events in the TSPRP Discord server, but we don't do that anymore since a year. A lot of these events have roleplay activities, so announcing them in the TSPRP Discord server seems logical. I will do this so roleplayers can participate, but also help in creating the event. I think roleplayers might have good ideas for roleplay related activities. I also hope this will cause more roleplayers to join MoC, since they might have good ideas for roleplay activities in the future.

Closing remarks
Overall, I hope that you like my ideas, though I am more than happy to recieve feedback from you.

Let's say you wanted to plan a large event -- something a few days long, with a handful of different components, types of games or events, maybe with international partners involved, etc. In broad terms, walk us through your plan for how to execute on the event and your to-do list to get there. What things would you need help with or ask a staffer for? What would you do yourself? How long would it take to plan? etc.

This is a very good question, thank you for asking it.

The first step would be to have a general idea for the event. Usually events start because of an idea, but if there is not yet one I will come up with one myself or ask MoC staff if they have good idea. Once a theme has been chosen, the event needs to be planned.

If this is an interregional event, I will ask MoC Staff if they want to join a Discord server to help plan the event, along with staff from other participating regions. If this is a regional event, discussion will take place in the MoC channels, though a Discord server might be created later on if that is more convenient. Either way, I will make a list of ideas for activities, and encourage staff to come up with more as well. Once there is a list of varied activities, staff can choose one to host and tell at what time they will be available to do it. Now, channels for games and help requests, dispatches with information, a schedule with activities and other things should be made. After I have made sure everything is in place, the event can be started.

For the announcement, I would make sure to keep it short yet still give all the needed information. I see that sometimes when there are multiple regions participating to one event, an announcement from one region can come later or earlier than one from another region, so I will make sure that the event is announced at about the same time.
