MoCelia: For Continuation of Culture
#1

[Image: VnRagMe.png]I really enjoyed my term as Minister of Culture, though it was only one and a half month long since I got the position after the resignation of Eshialand. I have worked on all my campaign plans, though I simply have not had enough time to complete them all. That is why I would like to continue into a new term. Take a look at the needed information below.

About Myself

Conflict of Interest

I have joined NationStates in 12th of April 2021 with my first nation, Murelia, which was founded in the South Pacific. After that, I have never on purpose left the region. Currently, I have three spare puppets: Mechelen, Cambaluc and Drenthe. I also have five defender puppets, SPSF Murelia 1-5.

Current positions in the government:

Minister of Culture
Legislator
MoC Senior Staff
SPSF Tsunami Force
MoE Staff
MoFA Ambassador
MoM Staff
OWL Staff

Past positions in the government:

Local Councillor
W&R Bureau Administrator

Accomplishments in MoC

I have been in MoC for 10 months, in that time helping in two interregional events. I started running Theme Thursday shortly before I became Minister of Culture in a special election. In that term, I have done quite a lot. Unfortunately not everyone sees the things that I do since most things are shared in cabinet updates, but I have done my best to accomplish more than previous ministers in my short term. Take a look at the things that I have done.

State of Previous Campaign Plans

Springfest: Ongoing
Community Chosen Event: Ongoing
Time Zone Variation: Finished
TSPRP Announcements: Ongoing
Games and Events Channel: Cancelled
Sharing the Culture Calendar: Ongoing
Double Notifications: Finished

Other Achievements in Previous Term

More Senior Staff: Finished
Balder-TSP Event: Finished
'Event' Function: Finished
Monthly Prize: Finished
Roleplay Region Project: Ongoing
TNP-TSP Event: Ongoing
Pride Month Festival: Ongoing
Plans

TSP Summerfest

Interregional events are my favorite part of MoC, so I will be introducing a new interregional event: the TSP Summerfest. Some of you might remember this event, as well as Autumnfest and Winterfest. The creator of this event series, @Royaltica, proposed to do these events again when returning to NationStates. I asked @Royaltica if I could work these events out further in my campaign, and I received agreement. Although hosting a major event like this might seem ambitious, I believe that with the help of my experienced Senior Staff and the Minister of Foreign Affairs it is possible to set up a fun interregional event with summer-themed games for people from all allied regions.

Community Chosen Event

I think a lot of staff members want to help in setting up an event but don't know how, so that is why I came up with the Community Chosen Event. MoC staff may suggest event themes in a period of three days. After that, I will make a poll which will be shared to both gameside and forumside so all people can vote. The theme with the most votes will become an actual regional event, with games relating to the theme.

Other Games and Events

Since the current games are not that popular, I have decided to replace Cards Against NationStates Friday and Gartic Phone Friday with two new games which will be voted on by citizens. The other activities, Skribbl.io Tuesday, Tetr.io Wednesday, Theme Thursday and Trivia Sunday will stay if I get re-elected. I will do my best to make sure that they will all continue. Suggestions for other games are always welcome.

Roleplay Community Contribution

Roleplayers will engage more with MoC by helping with events and participating in them. I believe we need more of them in MoC, since roleplayers often have ideas for events that people who do not roleplay do not have. Many roleplayers are not in the regular TSP Discord server but are in the TSPRP Discord server. They are still a part of TSP though, so it would make sense to announce regional and interregional events in their server. We already used to this, but for some reason we stopped doing that since a year.

Forum Games and Supervisors

New forum games run by MoC will be supervised by Forum Activity Supervisors. @HumanSanity suggested to make more forum games after the previous election, but my main campaign plans got priority so I have not been able to do this. We do not utilize the forums enough, especially since there will be new forums soon with many new functions. I would also like to make some interested people Forum Activity Supervisors. Each Forum Activity Supervisor will be responisble for resolving issues in a couple of long term games and can help in forum activities for events.

Closing remarks

Thank you for reading my campaign. Please ask questions if you have them. I hope to see you vote, whether it would be for me or for another candidate.

Can you elaborate a bit more on how you see the role of roleplayers in the Ministry of Culture? Your campaign seems to frame the issue as one of roleplayers contributing to the ministry's events. How would you aim to support roleplayers in their roleplay?

Good question, I should elaborate more on that. I hope to see roleplayers join MoC and help us in the next major event. They will be like other staffers, though they will be useful in RP projects. In return we are working on the gameside RP region, which MoC will maintain for roleplayers. Ideally, some of the staff maintaining the region will be roleplayers.

I'm going to be honest, your first term was lack luster. Yes, it was a partial term, but you still had over half a term in which you could attempt to accomplish something of note, beyond barely filling spots on the Culture Calendar. Why should we have trust a full term will produce better results?

Springfest was Royaltica's project, for the most part, and Royaltica hasn't been seen for quite some time now. How will you see it through in their absence?

You refer to the TSP-Balder event as "successful". What about it was successful and why?

The Culture Calendar maintains incredibly low-level activity and is purely focused on the Discord server. How does this serve any broader governmental or region-building purpose? Why is it worth investing in the Culture Calendar? Do you have the resources to support it properly? Why can't the successful Culture Calendar events still be run without the outdated institution of the Culture Calendar itself?

It is unfortunate to see my term critiziced, especially since I have not sat around doing nothing like others but I have put a lot of effort into my term. Although my term might not seem that interesting without revolutionary plans, I have done my best to make it interesting without them. I have made a lot of smaller improvements like the monthly prize, event functions on Discord, adding Senior Staff and more. My term could have been fun if I finished the festivals, but it kept being delayed and I have had to remind people to do their work a lot of times, and the end product was not amazing like you said. I admit that it was not succesful, though the TNP-TSP event looks a lot more promising and there are a lot more activities. The Summerfest will be interesting too. Although Royaltica is not active, I would like to continue work anyway since she agreed that I could do that. And like I have said, I understand your worries about the Culture Calendar and I have chosen to work towards abolishing it with Rosaferri if elected. I hope this explains my actions, I am sorry that my term seems empty.
