Pronoun for Minister of Defense, June 2022
#1

My fellow South Pacificans,

I come before you today to seek re-election as Minister of Defense. It's been an honor and privilege serving on the Cabinet for the past two months, and I'm eager to continue and expand upon the progress made during that time.

About Me
I've been serving as Minister of Defense since April 9. In addition, I've also been serving as an Officer in the SPSF since April 1, and previously served as a Trainee from January 11 to 28 and a Soldier from January 28 to April 1.

Accomplishments
In this past term, I've sought to uphold the campaign promises I made to improve the robustness and sustainability of our military structure and culture. Initiatives like the SPSF Data Portal and the return of monthly reports have highlighted my commitment, and our military's commitment, to public transparency. Other initiatives like a range of new service ribbons are a testament to efforts to reward continued and consistent contributions on the battlefield.

Next Steps
Complementing these initiatives, this term, I aim to undertake larger-scale reforms with respect to attracting and integrating new service members. My goals are straightforward:
  • Clarify pathways to involvement. At present, the Tsunami Force and Tidal Force are divided by whether service members are available at update; but service members' availability is not fixed. Instead, service branches divided by level of commitment would be more logical, enabling us to attract players primarily interested in liberations or other larger operations but not ready to commit to regular updating. Similarly, internal SPSF training guides can be improved to emphasize steps toward involvement by adding information on commonly used tools and typical operational procedures at update.
  • Enhance operational flexibility. As a feeder, our regional size can be a valuable asset for operations such as liberations or sieges, where we need every updater we can get. I aim to expand in-game forms of outreach to find new ways to reach out to interested South Pacificans. This would allow us to ramp up our numbers more consistently for large operations, without necessarily keeping things tied to regular military service.

Potential Conflicts of Interest
My main nation is Esfalsa. In the South Pacific, I am currently a Legislator in the Assembly, an officer in the SPSF, the incumbent Minister of Defense, and the wiki team lead in the Ministry of Engagement. Of less relevance, I am also an editor of the modern tech map used by our forum-based roleplay community.

I do not hold, nor have I previously held, any positions outside of the South Pacific.

In the interests of full disclosure, I joined the United League of Nations as Cordia around October 2018, with the intent of becoming more involved with the region as a community for GA resolution authorship; ultimately, I did not involve myself in either of those pursuits.
