Cake Supremacy

Category: Declaration

Type: Manifesto

Proposed by: Tepertopia
The World Cake Assembly,

CONCEDING that the performance of the current pie-positive Delegate has not brought about a complete a-pie-calypse,

ANJO-YING, nonetheless, the glorious taste of cake far more,

KNOWING also that Cakeitalism and its numerous exclusive benefits (mainly more cake) may only be installed in the South under an ideologically more compatible Delegate, and

EXCLUDING, for the time being and for tactical reasons only, Independesserts and Ice Creamists from the doctrine of universal cake supremacy,

Hereby finds the following to be fundamentals of a successful Cakeitalist TSP and the reasons for undeniable cake supremacy:
  1. Keeping the South safe.
Only if investors know that the location of their investment is stable and safe and profitable will they be encouraged to keep investing their time, energy, and love into the South. As such, under Cakeitalism:
    1. Efforts to strengthen the free market of endorsements, particularly through the regular holding of endorsement days, will be upheld.
    2. Anti-monopoly measures, such as the endorsement cap, will be duly and sensibly enforced in conjunction with relevant authorities to protect Southern endorsement markets from foreign or internal manipulation.
    3. In collaboration with the Local Council, uncultured anti-cake trolls and similar pie-spawn will be removed from South Pacifican markets as efficiently as possible (and legal).
  2. A strong Southern voice in the World Assembly.
Southern investors' interests must of course also be advocated for on the international stage. Thus, through Cakeitalism:
    1. Production of timely and quality recommendations from the Office of World Assembly Legislation will be subsidized with time and effort so their supply can meet demand.
    2. The Delegacy's weighted vote can be counted on to be cast early, so that the invisible hand of the lemming effect can guide as many Pieletarians as possible in the way our good investors find best.
  3. Reliable gameside presence.
The Pieletariat must be reminded of the benefits of Cakeitalism and distracted from anything to the contrary, for which regular activity is required. Therefore, with Cakeitalism:
    1. The Delegacy will strive to keep a daily presence, for which supporting distractions for the Pieletarians (e.g. "Question of the Day" or "Today in History" formats which are totally original ideas) will be established.
    2. Fortnightly development reports featuring stats, graphs, and pro-cake regional happenings information will be resumed.
    3. Similar to SWAN Awards or the North's "Literary Awards", a possible "RMB Awards" program will be looked into (possibly and hopefully in collaboration with the Local Council) to encourage competitiveness and reward loyal gameside investors.
    4. Efforts to turn Pieletarians into respectable Cakeitalists by recruiting them into these halls will be integrated into the above.
Now, accordingly, be loyal cake enjoyer anjo recommended to the electorate to implement those fundamentals of Cakeitalism, for profitable endorsement market growth and freedom from pie in the South Pacific!

Conflicts of Interest

I am currently serving as OWL Director, Legislator Committee member, Coral Guard member, MoFA Ambassador, and MoE staff member in the South Pacific, and have previously served as Chair of the Assembly. I am not involved in any other regions besides my service as Ambassador to the Free Nations Region and being the Founder of my puppet storage region.

I have access to the following nations: Tepertopia, Socialist Tepertopia, Free Tepertopia, The Class Council, and Anjo (primarily for Issues); Office of WA Legislation (OWL staff duties); all nations in United Protectorate of Tepertopia (puppet storage for nations I once created as factbook props).

If elected, how will you work with the Prime Minister to ensure the transition in leadership of OWL goes smoothly?

Relatedly, you are currently OWL's Director. How do you imagine your role within OWL will change as Delegate?

A lot of RMB activity is easily lost in a deluge of posts. How will you work for these initiatives to be accessible and able to foster quality RMB engagement, as opposed to simply being lost in the flood?

I like this idea a lot. How will you ensure these Awards reward quality activity as opposed to spam?

Thank you for the questions!

As the OWL Director currently doesn't fall under the separation of powers clause of the Elections Act, I am prepared to continue conducting Director duties for a short while to keep OWL running until the Prime Minister has appointed a new Director ‒ if desired by the Prime Minister, I'll of course also offer my thoughts on possible nominees. I'd also happily assist any new Director (should they wish so) in getting settled in the office, something I admittedly totally neglected after my last term as OWL which might've contributed to its activity collapse.

Should I be elected, my role within OWL would naturally primarily be to cast the region's weighted vote in accordance with the office's recommendation. Understandably, writing the recommendation I would base my vote on myself would be somewhat awkward, so I would imagine my role to focus more on the procedural side of things (vote opening, proposal tracking etc.). However, if nobody steps up to author a recommendation on a proposal, as does happen, I'd still be there as a backup writer, and I'd say I'm able to separate my personal preferences as Delegate from my duty as OWL writer very well (differences between my opinion and the public vote aren't that rare in regular procedure anyway, and I've written analyses contrary to my own stance as Director before), plus I'm of course bound to the results of the OWL vote / the Cabinet's override in any case.

I know that WFE real estate is very limited, but I imagine that either with some reference there or through a pinned dispatch, a visible and easily accessible placement is possible. Another option might be to fight fire with fire and just repeat-reference them two or three additional times a day on the RMB. Regarding quality responses, that could be tied into the RMB Awards system:

Raw number of posts would be only one of several criteria ‒ for example, the NS API also provides a method to get the total number of likes a nation received on their posts, or how many likes they gave to other people. I could also imagine having a category for the best/funniest/most interesting answers to questions-of-the-day, or just generally for good posts, which could be me noting down fitting posts as I read the RMB, or it could function via a public nomination system, and I (and the LC if they join the project) would judge the nominations. Which exact values will flow into which exact awards and what award categories will be established would be decided together with the LC.

Thank you for your responses.

Another question:
How do you conceive of the role of the Delegate as a head of state of the region? Beyond holding the in-game Delegate seat and responsibilities under the Charter and relevant laws, what responsibilities does this impose in terms of how you engage with the region?

If elected, how would you interact with the forthcoming Great Council? Would your interaction/engagement with it change if you are elected from how you would interact/engage as a legislator?

The head of state should be an uncontroversial figure which people can unite behind, so someone who's not too heavily involved in the "politicking-at-large" and serves the region from outside the partisan (well, if you can even call it that, with our consensus democracy culture Tounge) political arena. As the most visible representative of the region and the government on-site, both to the region itself and abroad, the Delegate should conduct themselves with appropriate dignity, but all the while still be a friendly face and ensure to remain approachable for the region's residents - having your Delegate, one of the first people you'll see when first joining the region or NS as a whole, seem like a stuck-up and/or out-of-touch representative of a "political high class" would be one of the least engaging things you could have as a new player.

With the upcoming GC, I'll likely one way or the other continue my longstanding tradition of lurking, but the head of state should also not seem to be completely absent from such an important event for the region. I do have some points of personal interest where I might participate more proactively - if elected as Delegate, I'd probably watch my words there even more than I do now, to keep it absolutely clear that I only participate as a legislator and not as the Delegate. While a post from the person with the fancy name color and title might of course still unwantedly carry additional authority for participants, there's sadly not much I can think of to remedy that, other than just staying put when necessary (did I mention I am very good at saying nothing already? Cheese ).

(07-06-2022, 03:05 PM)Pronoun Wrote: What level of involvement do you anticipate having with endorsement days? (For instance, sending regional telegrams, preparing dispatches, etc.)
The established base process to my knowledge was mainly setting up an informational dispatch with all required info and sending a regional telegram informing everyone of the endorsement days at the start, and then publishing the awards dispatch accompanied with a regional TG when things were over, plus a WFE mention of the top endorsers and the temporary regional flag change. I believe that the TG also offered to send nations their custom list of nations to endorse upon request, I'd also continue this. As the SWAN software does all the heavy lifting for keeping track of everyone's endorsements, all I can think of right now in regard to that might be to post official progress updates with the current leaders once per day when SWAN updates.

Thank you for your support!

We'll let the open market decide which version shall live If you want, one option would be that we official-ify your bot, but anyway I certainly wouldn't enforce a QOTD monopoly for myself Tounge - plus there are other possible formats I could see working, it wouldn't absolutely have to be QOTD if that'd void all your efforts Smile
