Renaming Ministries
#1

I received some (unexpectedly) positive initial feedback after suggesting on Discord that we rename our ministries to avoid confusion as to whether "MoX" refers to "ministry of X" or "minister of X." Since it seems people are open to the idea, I figured it's worth discussing in a proper thread.

What titles would people prefer? I'm not overly attached to any particular titles, but I'll throw out a few that I pulled out from Wikipedia in case it serves as an inspiration to anyone:

Ministry: Department, Secretariat, Office, Directorate
Minister: Secretary, Director

We could also keep either 'Ministry' or 'Minister' and replace the other, of course, while still avoiding any confusion arising from two similar entities starting with M.

I'd prefer "Minister" and "Department".

This is the way Australia does it, and, conveniently enough, it is a nation in the South Pacific. Tounge
4× Cabinet minister /// 1× OWL director /// CRS member /// SPSF

Should be under PM's discretion to name the formal positions and title of the people they've appointed.

I'm not changing forum and Discord channel/role names every time a new PM decides to get creative.

As a U.S. citizen, I am used to Department and Secretary. I am currently fine with the Ministry names, but would support a Department/Secretary renaming.

I would think that the PM would be sensible enough not to restructure the entire executive every term, especially considering how most of the ministries already have established infrastructure.

You give people too much credit. I restructured and rebranded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs every time I got elected. When I was elected PM, I restructured the entire Cabinet!

Oh.
You could leave it blanked ''Cabinet Member {1; 2; 3...}'' and allow for the PM to title them themselves.
If not,

I suggest the terms ''Cabinet'' for the position and ''Cabinet Member'' for title.

Minister and Department or Secretary and Department would work imo
"After he realizes this newfound power of his to override the hopes and dreams of republicans, he puts all of the united provinces under his control."
one time minister of culture
