From the Centre for Biological Research

FROM: Centre for Biological Research
TO: Cabinet of the South Pacific

SUBJECT: Solanum Outbreak

Investigators from Laboratory H4 of the Centre for Biological Research have recently concluded that the Solanum virus is responsible for the growing Outbreak in the South Pacific. Dr Clark has run field tests on all major infection sites, including the one at Fort Fudgetopia, which was swiftly contained thanks to the implementation of the Twin Protocol, though at the cost of a 64% fatality rate.

Both Dr Clark and I recommend allocating more funds to the Research Department, which has been all but abandoned since the latest Outbreak. The fact that it identified Solanum even with its reduced funding leads us to believe that there is potential to discover a cure, if enough efforts are spent. We also recommend investing more in researching the potential for Solution Z, in case research on a cure takes longer than advisable.

Failure to contain the Outbreak in southeast Kringalia and concerns about the effectiveness of quarantines in Punchwood lead of to consider the necessity of declaring REL 3 and beginning preparations for Operation Haven and the Redeker Plan, in case those concerns are not acted upon, or if current measures prove insufficient, which seems like the current trend. We expect the steps we proposed in our previous communication will be taken into account and implemented, for the sake of the South Pacific.

Director, Centre for Biological Research

CENTRE FOR BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH, GOVERNMENT ISLAND
SUBJECT: SOLANUM OUTBREAK

DR. THOMAS STONE
DIRECTOR

CENTRE FOR BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH
GOVERNMENT ISLAND

The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Awesomiasa has put in place contingency plans to deal with the impending Solanum outbreak, including, but not limited to:
  • Partially closing external borders

  • Distributing personal protective equipment to healthcare workers
  • Distributing surgical masks to citizens
  • Distributing guidelines for coping with the outbreak

  • Providing a hotline for citizens to report areas of high infection
  • Setting up Emergency Monitoring Centres (EMC) as part of the State Contingency Plan (SCP)
  • Directing the Centre for Disease Research and Prevention (CDRP) to invest all efforts in seeking a cure
  • Providing timely updates to citizens on the situation

  • Requesting that all Awesomiasans abroad register their information with the Department of Foreign Affairs

Awesomiasa will be placing research efforts at the forefront of minimizing the spread of the outbreak. We seek the region's cooperation to do so as well.

THE HON. REP. LEWIS DUKES
SECRETARY OF STATE
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
FEDERAL DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF AWESOMIASA
