Making TSP Tsu-Pen-dous!
#31

Question for you candidates:

Will you endorse role-plays (sci-fi, historical, technological, etc.) made by residents and promote the well-being of this region by encouraging the thousands of nations in TSP who are rarely or never posting on the RMB and/or do not currently participate in the region's activities to start doing so to make the fun and entertainment greater and the society stronger, creating an inviting atmosphere, and making a reason for future nations founded or moved to TSP to stay in this region, and carving your names as loving and affectionate Delegate and Vice-Delegate forever in the minds of TSPers and NationStates in general?

I will be asking the same question to all candidates, and I would appreciate an honest answer. Anyone that bluffs this question off by trying to be polite will not be getting my vote.

What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of each of your opposition candidates campaigns?

This question is for both the Delegate and Vice Delegate to answer.

Thanks.

First of all, you need a period ... or three. Tounge

Second, I see no problem is having various role plays. I would suggest residents interested in such get together with the MoRA, but if there's a role play people would enjoy, by all means.

Regarding the "thousands of nations in TSP who are rarely or never posting on the RMS and/or do not currently participate in the region's starting" ... half of my platform is trying to get better involvement from in-game nations. That said, if someone is uninterested in the RMB and/or forum government, there's only so much encouraging that can be done.

A new GCR is formed. It is a feeder, and you are the only government official available to respond to it. You notice the feeder within the hour and happen to be free all day - you are also aware that most of the rest of the cabinet will not be around for the rest of the day, if not for the next couple of days.

The GCR quickly attracts a small group of roughly organized people who identify themselves, on the RMB, as being from a non-descript non-NS related online community. A couple of representatives find the TSP IRC channel and are available to chat. Their IP addresses, should you check them, are reliable ISPs and unknown to you.

It quickly seems that they have a tenuous grasp on the WAD - they far exceed any endos picked up by any ragtag WA members, but could quickly be dislodged by a concerted effort from almost any GCR or UCR military (say, a half-dozen to a dozen). They have no forum set up, but do have an IRC channel with multiple OPs and a clear OP hierarchy.

You seem to be the only major GCR politician at the time, and no prominent gameplayers are in their IRC channel.

What do you do?

Ultimately, as QD pointed out, all of the candidates share an enthusiasm for the region that should be commended. What Pen and I are praising and criticizing below are the platforms set out by the campaigns, not the campaigners themselves.

To speak a be more specifically about strengths and weaknesses:

Arby/GR have the experience and have shown a lasting interest in the community. Some of their suggestions seem to really be able to spur activity in the community, but do not do as much to integrate the RMB nations into the government. Also, their proposed foreign policy is to stay the course which is a major weakness since it leaves TSP at the behest of a variety of outside forces.

Hobbes/QD 's platform also attempts to build activity and tackle foreign policy. While again, some of their ideas are useful -- a state of the region could be particularly helpful -- the platform doesn't directly connect the RMB to the forum community. After a decade-plus, it's clear that "encouraging" active members to come to forums needs to be revisited.

PH/TUSR are greatly enthusiastic and have specific details they would like to implement. However, the platform doesn't set out a broader goal for TSP. Moreover, since both have only been active in the region for a for short time, there isn't a long track record of votes/debates for the voting public to fall back on.

Ultimately, regardless of who wins the election, it would useful to debate the whole host of ideas proposed. Our diversity of outlooks is our strength and hopefully we keep that in mind moving forward.

I would befriend them and offer them help as needed. At first it would generally be advice on how to begin setting up a region. My hope would be that they would develop into their own regional power that is friendly to TSP.

Thumbs Up
Hey all! So, looking for all over the other campaign threads, apparently it's the "in" thing to do to tell everyone it's time to vote, say how great the campaign has been and tell everyone to vote regardless of who they vote for.

And ... since I'm nothing if not a trend follower ...

Seriously though -- the polls are now open and I certainly hope you vote for one of the amazing tickets running. TSP is great because of its diversity of opinions and this election is no exception. Even if you decide not to vote of Pen and I, I'm confident one of these tickets will make a great delegate/vice delegate team.

Regardless of the outcome, here's to another four moths of peace and prosperity in TSP! :cake:
