Well -- I think this is a good idea. And, we should aim to inform them before the elections begin.

But, there's something to be said for actual election activity. Several of us have taken to the RMB answering questions and promoting our candidacy which, I'd like to think, has helped promote the elections. However, by the time we've declared our candidacy, it's too late because the electorate is already set and anyone who tuned in late is now out of luck.

Not to pile on, but I'll make a few more points. In the run up to the elections, the Minister Of Regional Affairs, who I assume would and should take the lead on advertising the the upcoming election to our residents, is likely thinking about their own election or reelection, not necessarily the task at hand. Not to mention that elections tend to reach critical mass right before voting begins as everyone is going to run has either accepted their nominations or stood for election themselves, and many of those take to the RMB, whether that's just to communicate their message to the masses or establish some credibility to the electorate. Following that, the momentum along with many of the people themselves are gone.

I'm just wondering if an alternative route would be to have a period specifically laid out in the Code of Laws where officials are supposed to reach out to residents about the elections prior to elections beginning. That way they're reminded about it as an integral part of the election cycle.

Alternatively, I wonder if we could just have a process where citizenship procedure is more scrutinised during the nomination period. Perhaps having your nation in TSP for "X" amount of time before applying would be decent filter.  The High Court might find that this is "arbitrary or discriminative criteria" however (under Article 2.3). It might not count as the " denial of participation" though, because it's just a delay, not a full out denial in the processing of one's application.

That'd be a fun legal question to be honest. Can I make it? Pretty please? Tounge
