Adminstration

If that's honestly your biggest issue, we could remedy it by simply addin' an absentee provision for votin'.

Moderation wasn't very active before Hile created the new forum in my opinion. The Justice System was still using the 3WL -- which meant most moderation was handled by the Minister of Justice, not the Admins. When we changed the Justice System and moved to the new forums that gave Hileville and the other admins all control over moderation.

Contrary to people's accusations, I believe the moderation done by our Justice System was fairer and less politicized than our Moderation team. Perhaps the reason for this is people on the Justice system were elected (in an open competitive process) and unlikely to be punished by voters for moderating something in a way they wouldn't have (i.e., you elected me three times and everyone thinks I'm nuts), while the Moderation system (although technocratic) was appointed by Hileville on a patronage basis and you would likely have faced the wrath of Hileville if you had given a warning that Hileville didn't like or something etc.

I'm not saying people who served under Hileville were necessarily partisan, I'm just saying: you would have had good reason under Hileville to be partisan and keep in his good books.

Thats why all but one admin got removed. Cause we all agreed with him and.... Wait. Never mind. Thats not right...

I said that's a big issue -- and I'd love to see that mechanism in place. Thanks for suggesting it. Smile

Hileville was head admin for quite a while, Rebels.

I was mostly referring to your bolded statement. We were all removed because we disagreed with him.
Until about 6 months ago, he was really a great admin. Not so much a great leader of the admins, though. After kinda "getting away" with removing the inactive admins, he started his power grab. (and I'll leave it at that)

Thanks Rebel. So, what do we think of the latest draft?

I think Article 3 is stuff that should be in the mod policies, not in an Assembly bill. Also, I think that removal of admins should be in the mod policies, and it should be an admin team vote. I dont think its needed, but wouldnt be opposed to seeing the policies passed through the Assembly. Vote, or just discussion, though Id be move receptive to the later.

I'm proposing this text instead:

Charter Wrote:Article 8: Forum and Forum Administration
1. The Coalition's official regional forum is located at http://thesouthpacific.x10.mx/
2. The regional forum shall be administrated by the administration and moderation team.
3. Forum Administration and Moderation shall be regulated by internal and moderation policies subject to its approval and that of the Assembly.
4. The Administration and Moderation team shall be responsible for enforcing moderation policies.

I think most ideas in Unibot's draft of the Forum Administration Act are good, but should be all part of the same administration and moderation document subject to the approval of the Assembly:
  1. I like Article 1.
  2. I'm not a fan of having the Assembly confirm new admins, but it's not a dealbreaker. If we ever appointed Global Mods though, I wouldn't like to go through Assembly approval. I'm also not a fan of having staff members keep a CoI. I don't object to the idea itself, but it feels a bit too politicised for my taste.
  3. Most if not all of Artcle 3 is good, but should be part of the same document I mentioned above.

The purpose of Article 3 was to lay out some things that we need to see from mod policies. A framework. Article 3 is not detailed enough to actually serve as a direct mod policy.

What exactly have you changed? If you edit your old posts it is literally impossible to go back and look at the old version.

Not much. Added your idea of having The Assembly approve mod policies.
