[Appeal] Denial of Citizenship
#11

If you wish to cherry pick one comment from what was becoming a conversation with Kris, okay. If you look at my posts, you'll not see any instance of TSP being given directions by me.

I remind the Representative from Padfoot the Marauder that the British Grand Pacific was a participant in Operation Brave Toaster, making our line of questioning entirely within topic.

I am willing to vote in favour of overturning the appeal, with the understanding that you have good faith intentions in coming to this region, but subject to answering this question:

Knowing your past history in the region, why apply for citizenship in the South Pacific?

(I ask this out of genuine interest and to have a better understanding of your intentions, namely if there is a good faith interest in contributing to the region.)

To quote from my initial post, "As for why I'm applying for TSP citizenship: I've gotten to know a couple of the cats here from my time over in Alexandria. I honestly thought if they were so open and welcoming, that this entire kerfuffle was over with."

I've gotten to know Raven a bit more over the past few months and I think Henn would be one to stir up some RP drama with. They are/were both here, so I wanted to give it a go. And honestly, Todd has spoken highly and lovingly about the region as well. When guys like Raven and Todd show that level of affection (regardless of how certain people may or may not view them), one should take notice.

The more this draws out thought, the more I find myself wanting to prove that we're not all a pack of salivating wolves circling TSP.

Thanks. I think I have everything I need at this point. I am still slightly concerned, but admittedly not as before, and am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

o/

Would you ever attempt to partake in something like OBT again?

Ah, the wonders of technology. I'm on Tapatalk!

BGP, citizenship is not necessary to participate in our cultural and roleplay spheres. So if you want to partake in those areas, why do want to pursue citizenship so badly? Citizenship, primarily enables one to participate more fully in our legislative affairs, vote on matters and vote in elections.

You're an arbiter now in TEP (a largely apolitical position), but previous to that you were never one to get too actively involved in the Magisterium - why would you be so keen to vote here, but not participate politically in TEP to the same extent?

I've written legislation that was passed into law while serving as a Magister. I've helped develop language for other pieces; some that succeeded, some that have failed. I've lobbied for and against various resolutions before the Magisterium and have served on the Directorate (the TEP cabinet) of two Delegates. I'm not certain how that isn't participating politically in TEP. Perhaps you are meaning Winter of 2013 when I was suspended as a Magister due absence caused by a bad breakup and the loss of a child? I could see how that would be seen as not participating to a person outside my personal circle. Indeed it isn't something I've talked about often or with many.

As for being "so keen to vote here," I'm not certain I have acted or presented myself in such manner. I said that I want to be a part of TSP as there are personalities that I respect and admire here. Why wouldn't I seek to participate? Are you suggesting that new experiences shouldn't be sought after? I don't believe that we are static beings. I don't believe that because I'm a cartographer and roleplayer in one region I have to be such in another. What if that logic was applied to new players wanting to learn R/D? What if it was applied to people wanting to learn to write WA & SC resolutions? How about we apply it to real life? I have a feeling we'd be playing (and living) Ayn Rand's Anthem.

I'm gonna go ahead and voice my support for BGP's citizenship. My brother says you're alright and that's good enough for me.

What do you think about TSP adopting, perhaps a system that is somewhat like Europeia's and a medley of other regions, in that citizens must first contribute service to the region for a period of time before being allowed to vote in the Assembly or elections? They may participate in the debates but may not vote in the Assembly and elections until they have contributed time to the region.

Um ... this isn't a real suggestion. Is it?
