Socialism versus Capitalism
#181

Can we just agree that Ryccia does not understand socialism, by his own admission, and therefore is not adequately prepared to fully engage in this discussion?

He is simply taking the best of capitalism (well, somehow, his selfishness is still disturbing) and comparing it to the worst of communism, and calling it a balanced debate. It is not, and that should be called out.

My dearest Kris,

If we agree to that, the debate is finished! He is the main contender against socialism, with literally everyone else who posted in this thread being either neutral(As in the case with Qwert), or defending socialism against Ryccia's lashes(as in the case with you, Darkstrait, Crimson, and me).

Now, I'm all for education, and should he make an effort to try to do a balanced debate, like you said, that'd be wonderful.

Henn, you can't help the unwilling. I agree with Kris on this one, unless another capitalist wants to join in.

Hear, hear. He hasn't got the most basic thing right yet.

The most curious thing is that I'm not even a full socialist any more than I am a full capitalist. However, I think we all agree that it just isn't right to ignore the failings in one's side while condemning the failings in the other side's extreme. That is blind arguing, not debating.

Same here on all parts, Kris.

Well, just saw this video on socialism, and I think I understand now:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYm-9M4D...ata_player

I admire somethings like free healthcare and education(let's face it, some poor people can't even afford government healthcare. Unless its free, I don't know if its free or not?), but things like "Society > individual", "All humans are equal", etc. are things I disagree with. I think individual > society and all humans are equal, but by the law, no racism, etc. But not economically. There are jobs that are more important than others, according to the economy. I believe that their values are equal, but there's demand and supply. People demand it, employees supply it. If you have too much workers and the cost of the product you are producing is cheap to the consumer, or if the employee works at a low pay job, or if they just are too much, then the employee is paid less, or so I think. That's why doctors, lawyers, etc. are paid so much. There aren't as much as physical labourers, and the services they produce are, by the economy(and somehow society), valuable(do you want to buy your food at $90.00 per cereal box, or $60.00 per apple or whatever?). That's a flaw, I recognize it(me sad :sadSmile. But society > individual just makes no sense to me. Humans are productive, but should not be paid the same thing. They should be paid based by their jobs.

However: Democratic Socialism > State Socialism. Democratic Socialism is the better of the two.

I would lean towards state socialism.
