2016 in America
#231

(09-23-2015, 07:12 AM)ProfessorHenn Wrote: Trump wouldn't make it to primaries and certainly wouldn't run as an Independent. He's got money, but he definitely doesn't want to waste it on a campaign that will most likely not make it above 5% of the vote.

Some folks fail to realize that at this time in 2012, the leader on the ticket was Newt. In 2008 it was Rudy Gulianni. He has some good ideas, but I find they lack substance. Then again, so does most of the other candidates, especially when one looks to the opposite party. His campaign site goes into greater detail about them, and if you'd like to know more about them, I suggest visiting it. My biggest issue with him is on foreign policy. I just don't really believe right now that he's capable.

But I do think he'll gain more than 5% of the vote. He's tapped into an anger that's been brewing as the current regime continues to step over itself and use tragedies as soap box platforms for policies most simply do not want or realize is more problematic than what it's worth. My guess is he'll end up in the top 4. But this election is so hard to predict because him, Carson, and Fiorina are all outsiders and not an "establishment" pick. I came into this election thinking Walker would secure it. Now I have no idea.

Still, it's a decent field especially when comparing things to '12 or '08. And with all signs pointing Hillary or Biden taking the Dem's ticket, Sanders will almost certainly run as an independent. After all, he holds no party affiliation and his camp has made rumblings about it, especially as the Dems continue to stonewall all party debates. It's probably for the best: all one can really talk about is Hillary's latest scandal or how Sander's tax plan will cripple our economy.
