Ubesii and Tanis Sign the “Mutual Aid and Cooperation Friendship Treaty” with Bruuma and Kai Fa

This past week, discussions between Ubesii and Tanis, and Bruuma, Puerto Pollo, and Kai Fa, have concluded. In the days following the Mutual Aid and Cooperation Friendship Treaty’s signing, there have been numerous events celebrating the new treaty throughout both Ubesii and Tanis, with numerous rallies in large cities like Kysa, Tanis, and Segana, and numerous locally organized firework shows throughout the Makalis People’s Communes.

In a statement about the new treaty, the Xincha emphasized the greater opportunity this treaty would provide for workers between the signatory countries to self-organize and provide resources to each other, citing the success of the treaty previously signed with Tekarai. While not precisely the same given Tekarai’s capitalist welfare economy, the similar article in that treaty has thus far helped workers to self-organize and, in some cases, take control of businesses, including the entire (albeit dying for years now) Tekarian oil industry, and share resources with greater ease between the two countries for their mutual benefit. In her statement she predicted that this would similarly lead to a strengthening of connections between each country’s peoples, and thus “would function as yet another beacon of liberation for the peoples of the world within their own contexts”.

His Munificence the Parkai has, conversely, praised the closer military ties between the countries, stating that “we now see that yet more great socialist countries have joined us in the ongoing quest to defend our peoples from the imperialist agendas that have threatened each of our peoples throughout our history.” In his speech on the treaty he especially emphasized the defensive nature of the agreement, interpreted by some as a rebuttal to concerns raised by some others throughout the region as to the military implications of the treaty.

The treaty has, like the treaty with Tekarai, drawn whinging from the Ascension Party, as well as from elements of the Freedom Coalition. While the Ascension Party’s leadership has decried the treaty as allowing “foreigners” greater access to Ubesian resources, and harms their ability to stand on their own as one of the great powers of the world.

Both the People’s Front and the Restoration party have tried to put a damper on such concerns, stating that such sentiments could only lead to the unnecessary and harmful conflict and/or isolation of the country. They have each, in turn, countered that the treaty with other like-minded countries can only strengthen Ubesii, Tanis, and their peoples, culturally, economically, and militarily. Nevertheless, as there were numerous rallies and celebrations for the treaty, there have been a small number of reactionary anti-treaty rallies in some areas.
