Raider, Defenders, and Us (Political Ideologies)
#1

Welcome to the second part of the SPSF guide to R/D. Keep in mind that, while we will try to keep this as accurate as possible, some information may become outdated. Politics and ideologies change all the time, so we'll be covering the basic premise of both sides and categorizing them based off of which set of tactics they use.

First off, there are two basic sides to R/D. Much like the name implies, this is a conflict between Raiders and Defenders. However, much like real-life politics, there is a spectrum of ideologies. Almost everyone can fit onto this spectrum, however not everyone matches the definition provided perfectly. We'll be covering both sides and their counterparts in-depth further on, but here's a quick explanation: Not everyone is involved in R/D, and Raiders love to invade and disrupt the day-to-day lives of those people. Raiders invade and take over their regions, and try to keep it under their control. Defenders want to protect these people who don't want to join R/D, and will try to stop Raiders from invading said people.

Here's a visual representation of the spectrum I'm about to cover in-depth:

Raiders, as a general definition, are people who invade other regions and take control. Raiders take control of a region by taking over the Delegate seat. They are the people who select the battlefield, and make the first strike. Some commonly known raider regions are The Black Riders (TBR), the DEN, and Lone Wolves United (LWU).

Moving on down the spectrum, There are Imperialists. Imperialists are very close to raiders, except they don't limit themselves to just raids. They can carry out other operations as well. Imperialist regions tend to be much more motivated by politics then anything else. Commonly known Imperialist regions include The New Inquisition (TNI), the Land of Kings and Emperors (LKE), and Osiris.

Getting closer towards the center we find the Independent regions. Independent regions base decisions off of what they want, but they tend to lean more towards raiders then defenders, hence the placement. They have the ability to carry out any type of mission, but they tend to raid more. A prime example of this type of region is Balder.

In the center of the spectrum we have the neutral regions. The neutral regions are regions who do not participate in R/D, and don't have a military. Most of these regions focus on other aspects of NS, such as role-playing, or the non-military parts of the WA.

Next, we get to the Defenders. Defenders are regions who's military's main goal is to help natives of invaded regions by purging the Raiders from their region. Examples include Ten Thousand Islands (TITO), Wintreath, and a multi-regional organization known as the Founderless Regions Alliance (FRA).

You may have noticed the lack of a mention of The South Pacific or the South Pacific Special Forces In here. That's because as a region we chose our alignment because it is not on this spectrum. We chose to have no alignment, also known as being regionalist. We, as a region, act based off of our interests, and ally with who we choose. The SPSF can do any type of mission, with any region we choose. We can raid with Raiders one day, and liberate with Defenders the next. We have flexibility that cannot be found in any type of region on the spectrum above. That is one of the many things that makes the South Pacific so special. Granted, some Ministers of the Army may prefer raiding or defending, and do those types of missions more. However, because of the flexibility of our army that is perfectly acceptable. Any ideologies are welcome into our military.

This concludes the second part of the SPSF's guide to R/D. Next up we'll be straying a little from the beginner areas and touching some of the more advanced tactics and operation types of R/D.
