Sandaoguo's Campaign for MoFA
#21

In all fairness, I think we have moved away from a military-based foreign policy. Whether that is due to Glen's work or changing views from citizens, that's another matter.

We would move away from the military side of things and more into the culture side of things but I haven't seen a change to be honest.

I do think there has been a change, and reelecting me would help solidify that change. Military affairs haven't been at the forefront of the regional FA debate. We avoided R/D issues with our allies, focusing instead on GCR security and cultural exchanges. I made it a point to include dedicated articles about cultural exchanges in the treaties I negotiated in my last term (TRR and Lazarus).

First, I think it's unfair and mischaracterization to say I "broke" any promises. There were a confluence of things that led to general inactivity. MoFA is closely linked to events going on in Gameplay, and not much went on this summer. I did do things outside of public view, and of course we dealt with Lazarus at the beginning of the term. Inter-regional role play not panning out wasn't me breaking a promise. It was, I think, a lack of real interest, and a lack of specific direction. That's something we can work on.

Regarding getting new players into FA, this is something I'm going to be honest about, rather than paint a false picture to get me elected. FA has never been a bastion of opportunity. There was a false activity created by giving pointless busywork to new players and calling them "ambassadors." I will not revive that and no ministry under my leadership will operate that kind of system now or in the future.

But to say that means I don't have a plan to offer opportunities is wrong. My plan is to offer *better* opportunities. My plan is to develop our World Assembly portfolio and work with MoRA to come up with new ideas for fun and games with other regions. MoFA cannot be a mimicry of MoRA by merely resurrecting a long irrelevant system.

But I also caution the region to not look to MoFA to deliver the kinds of results MoRA can. These are two different ministries with fundamentally different purposes. We have MoRA to create regional activity. So it's unnecessary to push that agenda on MoFA, which existed originally to deal with inter-regional politics. That is still a large part of the job, and it's not something you can just teach by writing a guide and giving new players fancy titles. We can't pump out NS politicos the same way MoRA can teach people to hold a festival. Imparting knowledge of NS Gameplay takes a much more intimate and involved training, and that takes a player who has a genuine interest in Gameplay politics in the first place. We shouldn't be looking to MoFA to create something fast and in large volume that takes players months to learn right. That's why I plan on focusing on the WA program and working with MoRA, because those are much more accessible opportunities for the average player.

It's now time for our most cherished activity in TSP: overthrowing the old regime and installing the new one. Tounge

I hope I've earned your vote this election. As always, the campaign doesn't end until the end. I'll still be taking questions and giving real, honest answers through to the conclusion of elections!

Can you explain this?

I know that this does have some relation to the issue of MoFA-MoA communication, but wouldn't your question be better suited for a private conversation between both Ministers?

I'd like to know how his post on the NS forums without talking to anyone in the SPSF has to do with this quote of his in his campaign, so I figured here would deb the place to do it.
"Lastly, I think all ministers have heard the region loud and clear: we need better communication. While I won’t revive the practice of monthly diplomatic updates, I do think the ministry can do a better job of communication."

In all fairness, that quote has nothing to do with his post. He is obviously talking about communication what the Ministry does throughout the term, not communicating with fellow ministries. To clarify, I am not saying Glen should not answer for this apparent incident, but I do think that this should be handled between Ministers, not in a campaign thread.

It's exactly as I say in the post. I was told that the mission wasn't authorized for any SPSF soldier. I was told this the same time I was told about your issues in the #jump channel.

Either Henn is lying to an ally, or an ally is lying to me. Either way, I relayed what I was told, and I was told that Henn told an ally that the SPSF wasn't authorized for the Founderless mission. I have no reason not to trust the ally. If there is miscommunication, it was clearly between Henn and them. Though I find it hard for this to be a case of miscommunication, given the numerous issues surrounding this mission.
