Thats what we have done.
I know. The success or failure of the individual amendment granting the Chair powers to alter the Charter on whim doesn't have any effect on the matter; if the Charter is reaffirmed then all the illegal amendments are affirmed with it, regardless of whether the power to make such alterations is granted for the future.

If the Charter is affirmed, it makes makes all the amendments legal. That's how the law works, if the Charter is the law of the land.

So we use an "illegal" Charter to legalize the amended Charter? Makes sense...

No -- lets be realistic here. It is not as though GR rewrote vast swatches of the Charter here. He moved a couple periods and corrected some spelling, but did not actually change the meanings of anything. I think the fact that no one even NOTICED this until GR admitted it speaks volumes to how small these changes must have been.

While I agree that we need to reaffirm the current wording, I'm not about to spend hours of my time digging through old posts, only to later have to spend several more hours fielding amendments and fixing the typos that needed to be fixed anyway.

Both myself and the region have better things to do with our time.

Shall we put it to the vote?

If it is ratified it becomes the legal charter - if it is not we call a Grand Council?

It's already at a vote: http://thesouthpacific.x10.mx/showthread.php?tid=425
