Festival with Albion
#11

I have two ideas for in-game activities, the first to help with the publicity of the event, and the second to involve both regions as well. The first idea is to have the announcement (not exclusively) in dispatch format. Whichever region's dispatch gets more upvotes wins. Then, we host a fun, competitive poll of some sort (like, rock-paper scissors, but something new). Then, we hold some kind of third in-game event. Whichever region wins two of the three events gets a fun prize of some kind, like the winner gets to choose the loser's WFE for a day.

Thoughts? This was a completely random idea I just came up with, so I don't care if you all hate it. Tounge
I love both of those ideas! Happywide

Event: Festival between the South Pacific and Albion
Themed Name: ? (decide now)
Dates: ? (ideally last week of September, first week of October)
Events: (in parenthesis on which forum to hold)
  • Film Festival (announce one week before the festival opens) (TSP)
  • Avatar Contest (both)
  • Poem Contest /Community Short Story / Forum Spam Games (following the discovery theme, have an awards ceremony in the end) (both)
  • Market Stall (Albion)
  • Online Games (Albion)
  • Scavenger Hunt (TSP)
  • Rock, Paper, Scissors (both, gameside)
  • Dispatch Upvote Contest (both, gameside)
In all cases, activities would try to follow the discovery/exploration theme, and we would use the redirect forums and constant advertising to encourage activity from the other regions. Obviously this is just a suggestion, so we can start discussing something more concrete, but I think, if planned adequately, all the above is possible.

Thoughts?

I love where you're going with this, however, unfortunately our forums don't have up-voting, so I'm not sure how that could be re-worked on our side. We can do polls though.

I'll write up a summary of this discussion so far later today and put it up in our side of the discussion for viewing. Smile

Looks great so far Kris, seeing as the last week of September is only 5 days'ish away, I'm more inclined to lean towards the first week of October? That gives us a week and a bit then to set everything up and iron out the kinks? And I agree (besides up vote thing) everything is definitely do'able.

I already clarified the up-vote thing on Skype. Tounge

If all looks good, perhaps we can start working on festival sections in our forums? Maybe they can be hidden at first (though we would be advertising the event), until we have everything ready to be revealed?

Sounds good to me.

Were we splitting up the activities? I don't think we've confirmed/discussed properly how we're going to do that, outside of the suggestion given.

I'll try to prepare a graphical scheme of how to do so later (hopefully tonight) for everybody to analyse and amend as you prefer

Thanks for the patience, the one below is an scheme of what would this festival look like in the respective forums...

The 'thread' markers imply where would the activities be carried out whilst the 'redirect' ones link the access from the other forums.

Note that this scheme is shown to be adapted, reason why other activities and spam games, that may be improvised, are not mentioned.
