Minister of Feirmont Affairs...or Foreign |
Why should you vote Feirmont?
#BecauseIt's2015 (I'll have a proper election thread soon, once I organize my thoughts; this was simply to open the thread for any questions folks may want to ask!) Hello TSP! I am happy to announce my candidacy for the position of Foreign Affairs. To show that I mean everything I say, I'll be writing my campaign by poem. Feirmont For MoFA
Hello my regional fellow My campaign might seem a bit mellow, But please do not fret My mind is quite set And my platform here will I bellow: Friendship with others is key Whether it be culture or decree; Being friendly is nice Might very suffice As we look across the vast sea. Even if TSP is more RP GP is still something we see; I look towards friends And will vow to make amends To regions we relish with glee. For those that we don't have a treaty That we still regard as sweetly; Let's bridge that small gap With at least a NAP And make TSP look more pretty! I'll keep up at least monthly readings To those that want to hear our proceedings; Something that's simple And very much civil To at least present them with greetings. I know this campaign is general But my campaign had to be special; For I will not fail Ask me for details Your questions will not be a devil!
How many pancakes could a pancake make if a pancake could make pancakes?
Call me toast.
An excellent question
For the upcoming session, I'll only say once So don't be a dunce Infinite is in their possession!
What is your position on the recent scandals concerning your... err, Oddish self?
<33
To be a good leader
In the affairs of a Feeder, Do you prefer a regular Or someone as stellar As a Oddish that feeds on a bleeder? When it come to our Foreign affairs There really is none that compares To the fright in the night And One that just might Strike fear in the heart that is theirs. Of course that's not my stance For I believe in a peaceful chance But as you can see The fright that is me Will keep others in a nice trance!
While responding in rhyme and meter is cute, there are some serious questions that should be asked:
1. Why are you not running for another term as Delegate? Based on that answer, why are you instead running for Minister of Foreign Affairs? 2. What FA knowledge do you have? How can we be confident that you actually know enough about Gameplay to be a deft MoFA that can assert TSP's interests in successful ways? 3. Given activity issues as Delegate, what assurances can you make that those same issues won't exist as MoFA? The Cabinet will rely on the minister to respond to events quickly, usually being the first to bring them to their attention. That requires a combination of high activity, knowledge, and a strategic mind. Can you deliver on that?
Will you be able to bring life to te Ministry of Foreign Affairs? What things will you incorporate to make it successful?
I am Zadiner/Zak. Part of Assembly, some other stuff, Founder of some other region.
Hey, I have a bunch of issues. You don't need to care. First, and as you point out later in your questions, there were a few activity issues on my behalf; although I had a good presence gameside and IRC side, my presence forumside was partially lacking. Also, as much as I enjoyed being Delegate, my tasks split across the various projects around TSP at the same time as various life stresses came into play. My attention was elsewhere; something that I underestimated. The reasons I am currently running for Minister of Foreign Affairs is, as pointed out in previous campaigns, much of the work is done outside the forum. Although I expect my level of activity forumside to rise I am currently available via IRC, which is important to receive information in 'real-time'. Without going into too much detail, this has come into play during my term as Delegate. I also want to focus on a part of TSP that has interested me for a long time. Foreign Affairs is fascinating to me, and being able to focus on it and meet the various other diplomatic players across regions is exciting. I have also gotten into a habit of balancing my time for life concerns and giving NationStates (and any possible coming commitments) the attention it needs. (11-16-2015, 03:12 AM)sandaoguo Wrote: 2. I have done a term (albeit short) as Minister of Foreign Affairs. I helped finalize and sign the Lampshade Accords (Spiritus-TSP Treaty). My time as Delegate of TSP has put me in contact with various people around the land of NationStates. They are currently people I do not talk to on a regular basis, but rather introduced myself and vice-versa. Much of diplomacy starts with a name, and I hope to build on that. I know a fair bit about gameplay. Experience as a MoFA and Delegate made sure that I get a crash course on Gameplay behaviors. I have made some choices in Foreign Affairs earlier this term, choices that same can see as a 'mistake'. Mistake or no, I have learned from that experience and I am prepared to take that experience to represent TSP on an international scale. (11-16-2015, 03:12 AM)sandaoguo Wrote: 3. I also realize that I have to be very active to perform my duties not only on this forum, but others as well, and various communication mediums. You can not guarantee knowledge for everything in NationStates. I am prepared for most situations based off previous experiences. In contrast, I am also unafraid of asking difficult questions when it comes to curve-ball-like events, both in TSP and elsewhere. As for a strategic mind, I seldom do rash actions. I prefer thinking things over and getting as much information as possible. To you great question giver I hope my answers deliver, If it's not enough Or not up to snuff Just ask and I shall not quiver! This I feel is one of the major flaws of this ministry. It is hard to integrate new members while keeping a certain confidentiality to affairs. In a previous campaign I pitched an idea of a Foreign Academy for people of TSP to learn what it is working in Foreign Affairs. I will not build on that, but instead think of a peer-style system: If I am elected, anybody who is interested in Foreign Affairs can contact me (or I'll have a more detailed forum-post anyone can post) on what they would like to learn or do in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If the demand is overwhelming I will instead create threads on the matter; but judging on the amount of participation in the current Ministry, I think a peer system would work too. This way those that want to help get a dispatch out I can task them appropriately. Those that want to simply learn about what the Ministry is or how it operates I can, to the best of my abilities, explain what it is and work with them so that they in turn may in future elections take up the mantle as minister. I hope this answers your question And gave you a happy expression; If that's not the case Then get in my face! And I will start a new session.
I think my last term as MoFA can serve as a bit of a warning for believing that forum presence isn't necessary for this job. I'd be wary of that, if I were you!
Another question: The past few campaigns for MoFA centered around internal reforms of the ministry. However, the job still remains one concerned about what's happening outside of our region. What do you think is the "big picture" of the game right now? Who should we be paying attention to? What trends do you see that you think TSP can take advantage of?
The big picture that I seem to see is a more and more cultural approach from other regions. Not necessarily in a foreign aspect, but after poking around culture seems like a dominant area.
This does not mean I want to focus on the cultural side, and I can of course blurb about working with the next MoRA if elected. Honestly, things seem simply quiet across NS. Which is good, and gives time to be able to work with other regions. Of course, GP can come crashing out of the gate at any time, so this is a good time to capitalize on speaking with other envoys before the near-inevitable resurgence of a GP/foreign situation. |
