Pirates of the South Caribbean (IC, PT)
#11

South Tortuga
Acrisius leaned against the banister as he watched the clerk's men work. The men were excited to set foot on a ship whose tales are amongst the greatest legends of piracy. Acrisius watched sternly at the men, those who saw the captain's gaze quickly dissipated their excitement and went back to work. One man on the other hand, did not. He was a young man in his early twenties, he drew his knife planning to carve his name into the mast of the ship.

Acrisius: "Hey, what the hell are you doing?"

Young Man: "Leaving my mark you old fossil, your ship might have some worth now that it's been established that I've been on it."

Acrisius: "Who are you supposed to be?"

Young Man: "Marcus Turpin is my name and pillaging and marauding is my game. I'm the most dangerous pirate in the South Caribbean you see. And well it being my territory, I believe you, as all tenets do, pay me some of your share in order to stay. Otherwise I may be forced to... see you out."
Acrisius laughed off the young fool's threat, the young pirate was at first surprised by the captain's laughter, but confusion turned to rage as Marcus threw an ill-meaning hay maker at aged captain with his might. The old man moved like lightening, he bobbed the first hay maker, and side steps. The young man nearly loses his balance as he comes up empty.

Acrisius: "Stop it you damned kid! Before you get hurt!"

Marcus: "The only one that's going to be hurting is you old man." Taking to account the captain's agility, he feinted a right hook, and popped the captain's mouth with a quick jab. The young man paused as he observed that the captain's head only jarred slightly and blood that began to pour from his lip. Marcus laughed "Still think you're going to hurt me old man?" Without hesitation the chest of the fool pirate is knocked empty as Acrisius replies with a front kick. The young man is gasping for breath, Acrisius is coming, Marcus throws another hay maker. Like the crack of a pistol, the bones in the young man's hand made when the powerful punch connected with the sharp elbow of Acrisius, the bone erupted through his skin like a harpoon through a whale. Marcus screamed and recoiled in agony, holding on to the red soaked hand.

Acrisius: "I've met countless others like you boy. All you boys, so quick to rush into a situation blind, so proud that they can not back down, even when they realize they've bitten off more than they can chew, so stupid as to not analyze the situation before you leap. Let me tell you something kid, you've got a lot to learn before you start talking like a man. I took it easy on you, and let me just offer a bit of advice. Before you go off half-cocked, head-swelled with arrogance and assumptions, ready to jump into situation, cool off and observe. Weigh your options and determine the likely outcome, and be prepared for anything. Now get off my ship, you're bleeding all over it."

Marcus: "Yes sir." The young captain hurried off the ship. The clerk's men stared incredulously at the captain. Acrisius turned around at the men
Acrisius:"What the hell are you doing, get to back to work. Unless one of you would like to become a problem, in which case I will gladly make another example of you. And remember he was a warning, your punishment will be far worse."
The crew worked with a new vigor, the supplies were loaded on to the ship and the storehouse employees left. As the son began to go down, Acrisius couldn't help to wonder where Daouda was, he left soon after the initial visit to the storehouse to gather information. The grey-blue twilight between dusk and night was upon the Typhon before Daouda appeared.

Acrisius: "Did you find out anything useful?"

Daouda: "I've heard about the incident here between you and Marcus Turpin. For a man who hasn't been a pirate for some time, you still know how to make enemies quite well."

Acrisius: "I'd hardly consider that boy a threat."

Daouda: "The boy no, but his commodore maybe, that boy is the captain for Commodore Angus Teach."

Acrisius: "That old scot is still around? I haven't heard anything about his since that poorly planned raid near Madagascar."

Daouda: " He does more planning than pillaging nowadays from what I've gathered. With all the wealth he gathered from the old days he possesses a fleet of nearly 30 ships. He uses them to escort his merchant ships, and to sink other merchant fleets. Marcus Turpin is his nephew."

Acrisius: "What have you heard about the squid?"

Daouda: "From what I've heard it was last seen when fleet of Spanish galleons escorting a trove of Aztec treasure was sunk near South Havana."

Acrisius: "Alright, recover the men. Tell them we're sailing out of Tortuga tonight. If we don't then Angus'll have us surrounded. We're planning a course to South Havana."
