Nominations for Chief Justice
#11

Thanks for the thought, but I think I can best be of service elsewhere.

With this vote in progress:

If it goes through I assume Chief Justice elections will be held in May?

If the current elections do proceed, I'd like to nominate HEM. He did draft the system that we now have Wink

There is no longer a chief justice; this election is redundant, as we'll need a special election in a few days.

I dont think so, Bels. I think we need to elect 3 justices now... The election law has nothing to do with the passing of the judicial reform
the judicial reform mandates the 3 justices, not the election law. Therefore, these legal elections need to have us vote for those new justices. Then, in 6 weeks, we can hold Justice elections again, with them taking office June 1st.

And if we're extending the current judicial term to May we'd still need to hold a special election.

Heres how this needs to work:
  1. Judicial reform passed
  2. IMMEDIATE special elections or Cabinet appointment to staff the new Justice system
  3. April elections as planned, electing all cabinet members and 3 justices
  4. Passing of the election law revision
  5. May 15th: Elections for 3 court justices - taking office on June 1st.

We skipped #2. We're now on #3.

We need to hold a separate special election. We have yet to hold nominations explicitly meant for the three associate justice positions, and the Code of Laws require a 5-day nominating period. We probably have to wait until these elections are completed.

This election will be conducted either in May or during a special election when asked to do so in a law for judicial reform. Apologies for this.
