Announcement from the Chair
#1

Today I'm officially appointing Cormac as Deputy Chair of the Assembly. I also immediately tender my resignation.

I have little interest in managing a body with constant backseat driving, and a body that will inevitably devolve into regular attempts to overturn decisions with little to no check on that newfound obstructionist tool. I do not feel like spending the next 2 months being called a dictator for thinking that people should let their elected officials do the job they were elected to do. That's even more so when these baseless attacks on my character are lobbed by players who have a long history of breaking laws, couping regions, and purging their opponents.

This job has also taken an unreasonable amount of time and attention away from my duties elsewhere-- as admin here, as a CRS member during the biggest investigation we've ever undertaken, and as a member of the General Assembly Secretariat. To stay in this job and let those others suffer for it, especially when everybody says they can do better, would be a dumb choice. Being Chair isn't all that hard, of course. Being Chair of a group of players who don't want to be managed is much more difficult.

Best of luck to Cormac. Per court precedent, he is able to fulfill all the duties of the Chair as the deputy. Direct all requests and complaints to him.

Thank you very much for your service, Glen. You really have done a great job, despite the grief we give you.
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

Thank you for all you've done to tidy up and get things running more smoothly. I hope you find the the extra time brings its rewards in your other duties and in real life.

Thanks for your service, Glen.

The CoA is a thankless job; I look forward to what Cormac can bring to the role in the interim.

Following a ruling by the High Court, it has been clarified that, under current law, the position of Deputy Chair is vacated following resignation of the Chair.

Under Article 1, Section 7 of the Legislative Procedure Act, any legislator may create voting threads and record votes when the Chair or designated deputy cannot do so. I will continue to do this, as may any legislator who wishes to do so. Unfortunately, according to the High Court's ruling, no other powers or responsibilities of the Chair may be exercised until a new Chair is elected.
