Farengeto For Chair
#1

Hey everyone, it's Farengeto again!

I'm not a newcomer to Chair position, having served in the role previously back in 2015. I've always viewed the Chair as an administrative position rather than a political one so my campaigns tend to be a little shorter on the "policy" side of things. I see the Chair not as someone who writes and passes laws, but as someone who helps others to write and pass laws. To that end there are three main focuses of my campaign:
  1. Efficiently running the Assembly
  2. Ensuring a welcoming environment
  3. Promoting the creation of new legislation
Keeping the Assembly running smoothly is a critical and often thankless job. Without it our region could not function. It is my goal to ensure everything remains running quickly and smoothly, with as little delay as possible. I also hope to revise and streamline our administrative procedures to keep them running smoothly, both now and in future terms. The most obvious example of such being our legislator roster: a Google Doc that is replaced with a new link and a new format every election with old records lost in the transition, something I hope to substitute with a more permanent tracker that balances both transparency and amount of work for the Chair.

The Assembly, especially in recent months, has never been the most welcoming place. We’re riddled with political tensions both new and old, most of them far beyond any Chair’s potential to resolve. But as Chair I intend to keep the worst of this toxicity outside of our Assembly. I hope to keep a fair and active administration in both the Assembly and any external Assembly chats where I have the power. I do not expect this to be an easy task, the reactions during the previous Chair’s attempt saying enough in that regard, but it is necessary for the health and sustainability for our democracy. I will strive for fairness, and respect for our laws and procedures in enforcing moderation; one need look no further than my history in the Court as proof.

New legislation is what keeps our Assembly going and as Chair it is my duty to encourage its creation. Part of this is keeping our Assembly open and welcoming, encouraging new people and ideas in writing our laws. I also hope to make larger initiatives easier to organize through dedicated areas for these long-term group efforts. I’ve seen good concepts through the Assembly Brainstorming subforums and the Working Group channels on Discord, and hope to explore or expand these concepts in ways that are easy to create and manage for the present and future.

I hope that I can bring some much needed stability to the Chair. We have seen three different Chairs resign in just four months. It is my focus to cut down on the recent political drama of both the Chair and the Assembly, and focus the Chair on its core duties.

3 questions:
1. What do you plan to do should you loose the election?
2. What kind of chair and gavel would you like?
3. Are you confident the Court would be in good hands if you left it?
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

  1. Maybe stay on court. Not sure.
  2. A big, comfy chair that rolls well. And a gavel that is really loud and echo-y.
  3. I trust the region can find qualified individuals to lead the Court. I just ask that my campaign not be judged on a question of "Justice or Chair?"
