Daonlathas is the capital planet and city of the Ryccian Empire.

Daonlathas is the presumed homeworld of the Human species, and a city-wide planet. It is one of the Core worlds, home to the Imperial Senate and the Imperial Palace, as well as most, if not all government offices. The only building of importance related to the government and that is not located on the capital is the Imperial Congress, which resides in the Core world of Anobel.

History

Daonlathas is the presumed homeworld of the Human species. However, this is false. It was the first planet settled by the Ryccian Humans, and at ancient periods of history this planet was even named New Ryccia, later Ryccia.

Long forgotten, now-unknown specimen enslaved the Ryccian settlers for two centuries, but a slave revolt and an invasion of their own planet weakened them and made them victims of genocide, respectively.

Daonlathas was named because of the historical Daonlathas city, which was also the capital of Ryccia in its own days. The planet grew to such an ecunemopolitan state that the entire city-planet was named after the capital afterwards. Since then, it has never officially lost its status as the capital planet and city.

Geography

Daonlathas is covered in an ecunemopolitan urban agglomeration. However, the planet itself experiences a temperate climate, with the tropical equator and arctic poles being the exception. The now-melted arctic poles and some lakes have remained untouched, as that is the main freshwater source of the planet. However, due to its size, Daonlathas practices water recycling and it imports water as well.

Planetary Behaviour and Characteristics

Daonlathas has a rotation of 24 hours and 59 minutes with 49 seconds, a rotation similar to Earth’s but not the same, forcing humans who settled here to adapt and sync with the planet’s day-night cycle. A standard calendar day lasts 25 hours, with seasons being relatively the same as Earth’s except for Winter.

However, the orbit is nowhere close to a terrestial one, with the planet taking 730 days to complete a full orbit around its sun, Pacifica. This leads to longer seasons except luckily Winter, which only lasts more or less the same time as a terrestial season. In ancient times, the various seasons and short winters led to bountiful harvests, as farmers had more time to grow crops in a Daonlathas year. This led to Daonlathas having a feast celebration on Winter, simply called the Harvest (kind of like Thanksgiving), which is still celebrated today by Daonlathaites and by other planets in Ryccia, most notably in the Core worlds.

Despite Daonlathas’s orbit, a standard year is still 365 days, but no one seems to know why. It has been so since Ryccia had started. Some Ryccian historians have theorized that this was to measure human lifespan in a way that it did not seem “short”. Others believe it was to limit the long year, maybe to celebrate New Year’s earlier or to make a year seem shorter. The real reason was that the original settlers inherited the calendar year from Pacifica (Planet), but gradually forgot where they came from.

The atmosphere of the planet is mostly Earth-like, with slightly more oxygen than on said planet. Daonlathas is ~1.11× bigger than Earth itself, making it a Super Earth by a slim margin.

Satellites

Daonlathas has 4 satellites: Aridna, Magna, Maxima, and Minima. Only three can be easily seen from the sky, with Aridna being as big as a Death Star (~131 km in diameter) and farther from the planet to be accurately seen, and only one can be seen as a Moon-like satellite (Magna), with the other two seeming like smaller balls of light in the sky.

None of them are habitable, with only Magna barely retaining an argon-based atmosphere (it will not drift away, but it is very thin), although they each do retain military bases as part of the capital garrison and starfleet.

Xi’ean is a sparsely populated planet in The Rim.

Xi’ean is a planet located in the eastern part of The Rim, close to the Eastern Region. The climate is very cold, with the tropical equator only having temperate climate.

History

Xi’ean was settled by human migrants, most likely to mine the bountiful reserves of rare earth minerals and a special ore only originating in the planet, Xi’ean Gagomite, a metal that can be used as a stronger replacement to steel. Recently, lumber has become a blossoming industry, with the Xi’ean soil’s nutrients being described as excellent for pine-like tree farming.

It has always been sparsely-populated, with its capital Yu-eto, located in the equator, only having 1 million people out of 63 million. Most are centred on the equator, with only a few settlements and military outposts dotting the non-equatorial parts of the planet.

Xi’ean’s people once spoke Anirish, a descendant of English that diverged in the eastern Rim, but immigrants from Vonmises and Vurbenta have influenced the language to become Xi’ean, an unique language only spoken in this planet. 57% of Xi’ean are humans, 24% are Vonmisians, 18.5% are Vurbentans, and 0.5% are other species.

Geography

Xi’ean is very cold, with the equator having a temperate climate. Non-equatorial areas face temperatures of Taiga and Tundra, with the poles facing temperatures of even -250 °C.

Xi’ean, ironically, also has abundant freshwater. Lots of lakes dot most of the temperate equator, and glaciers, frozen lakes and plentiful snow can often be seen outside the warmest areas of the planet.

Xi’ean only experiences two seasons: Summer and Winter. Due to its unique orbit, it gets closer to its star in Summer, and quickly steps back in Winter. In Summer, most areas of the planet can actually melt, providing unfrozen lakes and melting glaciers that create waterfalls. It can actually rain in Taiga-like and some Tundra-like places in Summer, and the equator can sometimes get as much precipitation as a subtropical rainforest. This is short-lived, however, as Winter usually takes up about ~68-75% of a Xi’ean year, returning everything to its average state.

Planetary Behaviour and Characteristics

Xi’ean has a rotation of 64 hours, forcing locals to rely on the standard system and schedule their day accordingly. Even if it is night, it might be morning due to the standard followed across Ryccia.

Despite this, Xi’ean actually has an earth-like orbit: 363 days makes a Xi’ean year. Locals follow the Xi’ean Year Standard to measure the year, but use the Imperial Standard (365 days) when taking into account things like birthdays and the overall time that has passed.

The atmosphere is made up of mainly oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, and traces of radon. Xi’ean is smaller than Earth, only being 83% of its size.

Satellites

Xi’ean has a small, asteroid-shaped satellite, Xi’ean-2, but it is not seen in the night sky.

Kisoga is an industrial planet in The Rim.

Kisoga is located in the northwestern Rim, close to the Core region. It was one of the first planets to be settled after the Core had been populated, with Kisoga and the Core having many cultural similarities.

History

Kisoga was one of the first planets in The Rim to be colonized by humans. As such, Kisoga is one of the oldest-settled planets in The Rim, and one of the most culturally-connected to the Core, especially to the capital planet Daonlathas, which provided the most pilgrims as it was overpopulated for its time.

Kisoga is an industrial world, manufacturing things like starship engines, electricity generators, and rideship (or flying car) engines.

Geography

Kisoga is a tropical planet, with climate often being hot and humid, especially in the equator. Only the far north is temperate, and the poles have some ice, but not much. Non-industrial regions of the planet are known for the poor soil for crops but good earth for cattle, as the alien weed-like plant, Kisoga Grass, is very similar to average grass, being abundant in many areas.

Industrial areas are heavily polluted, leading to intense smog, especially in urban regions. It is rare but not shocking to see smog on rural regions as well.

Planetary Behaviour and Characteristics

Kisoga has a rotation of 14 hours, forcing locals to rely on the standard system and schedule their day accordingly. Even if it is night, it might be morning due to the standard followed across Ryccia.

Kisoga also has a very short orbit: 93 days consists a Kisoga year. As the planet is mainly tropical, most of it does not have traditional seasons, with Winter being short on the few non-tropical areas of the world.

The atmosphere is made of heavy concentrations of oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, and in less amounts helium, making it a great planet for heavy industrialization. Even so, the scale of such activity has been so severe that the lush flora of the planet cannot keep up with absorbing the CO2 the industries generate, leading to pollution.

Kisoga is only 96% the size of Earth.

Satellites

Kisoga has no satellites.

Droidia is a planet in Wider Ryccia.

Located to the northeast of the Wider Ryccia region, Droidia was a planet settled by droids that became self-aware. It is somewhat close to the Eastern Region, and the planet produces items like biofuel and minerals.

History

Droidia is a particular planet like nothing else. It was settled by dissenting droids that became self-aware. All kinds of robots (military, protocol, astromech, housecleaning, working, etc.) defected and gathered in this empty planet, looking to a safe haven.

At first, the droid population dedicated itself to piracy due to the Ryccian Empire not recognizing them as beings. The authorities, looking to stop their efficient lawlessness, granted the Droidians autonomy, recognizing only self-aware robots living in Droidia as citizens of Ryccia, and giving them representation in the Senate. This is unique in the Empire, as droids not originating from this system are just property.

Owning droids is taboo amongst the robotic populace, who see it as a reminder of their past status as commercial assets. Few sentient, organic beings live in Droidia, mostly expats from other planets, merchants, and Ryccian representatives.

The droids that live here can produce economic activity like other worlds, as self-awareness and homemade upgrades to their programming allow them to do many economic activities, chief among them biofuel farming (biofuel is used as a renewable alternative to non-organic, finite fuels) and ore mining. Robots here even have an industry to maintain themselves, allowing them to function as long as possible and not dying of disrepair or poor maintenance. Producing new bodies to replace an old one and transferring their robotic data (in which their conscience is included) is not unheard of, allowing them to live forever if they take care of themselves.

Geography

Droidia is a fertile, mostly temperate planet, which allows for the biofuel farming these droids engage upon. Not many droids live in the tropical equator or in the planet’s deserts, worrying that the heat will damage their mechanics. The poles are cold, but not as cold as Earth’s.

Planetary Behaviour and Characteristics

Droidia has a rotation of 33 hours, which is actually not a problem for droids, as they usually require no rest and/or they can refuel for energy. They use the Imperial Standard for tracking days, but the planet’s rotation to count the hours.

Droidia has an orbit of 1790 days, which the only inconvenience it causes is the long seasons. Local droids still use the Imperial Standard to measure years, but they do not have much issue for seasons, only that biofuel can be farmed in a determined amount of time.

Despite their mechanics mostly not being damaged by pollution, droids are cautious of it, fearing that their biofuel farms could be jeopardized if it makes the planet organically uninhabitable. The planet’s atmosphere is mainly composed of carbon dioxide, oxygen and hydrogen, with traces of nitrogen and fluorine.

Droidia is two times bigger than Earth, making it a Super Earth.

Satellites

Droidia has a satellite slightly smaller than Pluto, Droid-S. There are also settlements in there, despite the moon being organically uninhabitable.

The Axekiu Geniocracy (Axekiu: Akexiu-Noimoskive) is a locally sovereign planet in the Ryccian Empire.

Located in the western Rim, close to New Daonlathas, Axekiu is one of the few non-integral species planets to be locally sovereign, with national sovereignty still resting within the Ryccian Empire. It is known as one of the most intelligent planets in Ryccia, with their entire culture and education system being centred on intelligence and technocratic values.

History

Axekiu was first settled by intellectuals like philosophers, artists, writers, etc., who escaped the Ryccian Empire’s grasp. They wished to create a society ruled by intelligence and technocratic values, with the smartest being the leaders in their respective fields, no matter from which social class they came from.

As soon as the Axekiu began to colonize, they emphasized education, and, to reinvent their society, they developed a new writing system and a new language, in order to differentiate themselves from Ryccia itself. They founded the Axekiu Geniocracy, a sovereign state that survived until the Ryccian Empire conquered their system, albeit with greater difficulty than expected, as Axekiu had some of the wisest military commanders in the conflict, product of the Axekiu’s intellectually-driven education system.

It was not until the Democratic Reforms that Axekiu regained its sovereignty again, partially. They are still ruled by the Ryccian Empire on paper, but in any practical sense they are almost fully independent.

As part of their intellectually-driven society, their leaders are chosen by extensive and carefully selected political, economic and leadership tests, with the smartest occupying top positions in the Cabinet and in the top leadership. These tests are purposefully designed to be the toughest in Axekiu, so it is ensured that the best of the best pass. They are also ruled by the Congress of Universities, on which the top 500 universities on the planet are members, with one vote per institution. These universities are graded by an independent commission consisting of native Axekiu and randomly-selected foreign academic grading institutions. The #1 academic institution gets to be the leader of the Congress.

The Axekiu do not dismiss those who might result “stupid”, as their culture believes that most, if not all people are smart in their own way, as long as they do not have a legitimate disability that blocks them from obtaining intelligence like others. This is not shamed by their society, however. Instead, they tend to their needs and try to find a cure for their disability.

This way of thinking has lead to children that score low in the standard education system being carefully tested so they can find on which field they are the smartest at. For example, you might have F’s in standard classes, but you might be extremely gifted on music instead. They do not care for physical or financial limitations either, as they believe that even a person with no physical ability of movement or someone born with no arms or legs can be intelligent and useful to society, as well as those who have only known poverty in their entire life. This way of thinking has resulted in even people with severe physical impediments, the poorest of the poor and people who might result “stupid” in other education systems across the Empire having top positions in the Axekiu government.

In order to dissuade corruption, this crime is punishable by an eternal life of torture, and it is extremely discouraged in their education system and culture. It is even its separate subject on the standard education high school system, and it is mandatory for both public and private schools and universities to teach the evils of corruption and related crimes. Failure to do so will result in the forced closure of the institution.

Geography

Axekiu is very similar to Earth, with their climate, seasons and ecosystems being near identical.

Planetary Behaviour and Characteristics

Axekiu has an orbit of 26 hours. The Axekiu do not care for the Imperial Standard, using their own Axekiu Standard.

Axekiu also has an orbit of 357 days. Again, the Axekiu care little, using the indigenous annual system instead of the Imperial Standard. They only use the Imperial Standard when abroad.

Axekiu’s atmosphere is made up of mainly oxygen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, argon and nitrogen, with traces of chlorine and a miniscule amount of sulphur.

Axekiu is 1.3x times bigger than Earth, making it a Super Earth.

Satellites

Axekiu has two satellites: Fengari and Mikrodoriforos. Only Fengari is visible in the sky, whilst Mikrodoriforos is a spheroid the size of a big asteroid.

Xaevunn is a planet in the Vurbentan Rim.

Located close to the Ryccian border, Xaevunn is a cold planet, unbearable and almost uninhabitable for species like humans, but for the Vurbentans who settled this area, it is less difficult to live here, albeit it is still cold for them. A comparable experience for them is humans in Siberia.

History

Xaevunn was settled by the Vurbentan Dominion, a monarchy ruled by the ancient Lord of Vurbenta. It was a planet purposely settled for the mining of the planet’s abundant lithium and iron reserves, on which it still serves.

Despite being a freezing wasteland for humans, Vurbentans, who can tolerate colder temperatures compared to humans, do not find it that hard to live here. They do not have an important agricultural sector, but the cold plant life that grows in Vurbenta can be farmed here.

Geography

Xaevunn is a cold wasteland. The climate is always freezing here. Vurbentans can live here regardless.

The poles are so cold, humans would near-instantenously die of freezing and Vurbentans would perish in a few hours if not extremely clothed. As such, the poles are a no-go area for human visitors, unless the human is travelling on a vehicle or ship designed to protect them in these areas.

Planetary Behaviour and Characteristics

Xaevunn has a rotation of 100 days, forcing locals to rely either on the Imperial or Vurbentan standards.

Xaevunn has an orbit of 5 years and 3 months, also forcing locals to rely on their prefered Standard.

Xaevunn does not contain any oxygen in its atmosphere, forcing species like humans to wear breathing devices when visiting the planet. However, the Vurbentans are duoanasian creatures, which means they can breathe one of two gases, or both, to make their body function. The atmosphere instead contains the other gas Vurbentans can use, hydrogen, as well as methane, helium, nitrogen, and traces of arsenic. The hydrogen and methane in this planet combine in a compound to make the surface liquid that composes the lakes of this planet. Naturally-occurring water is harvested deep underground.

Even though they can survive with hydrogen alone, some Vurbentans import oxygen, as breathing both gases makes Vurbentans physically stronger and makes them live a bit longer. This is despite knowing it is not being necessarily compulsory for survival, but incur the cost anyway.

Satellites

Xaevunn has no satellites.

Constantinople is a planet of historical significance in the Core.

Located close to the capital, Daonlathas, Constantinople belongs to the “First Colonies”, those planets who were first settled in the first wave of colonization. Not only that, it was the first planet in this category to be populated.

History

At first, Constantinople was settled for agricultural reasons, as the capital became ever more populated. However, today it is known as a manufacturing and metropolitan hub, serving industries from manufacture to finance. Due to its historical and cultural ties, plus increasing urbanization, this planet is affectionately called “Little Daonlathas” by Core inhabitants.

Constantinople is also gifted on musical tradition, as the early culture here emphasized it. Popularly known for their artists in the Core and in The Rim, some call it the “Music Factory” in these regions.

Geography

Constantinople is similar to Earth, only a smidge hotter. It is dotted with freshwater lakes and oceans, as salt unnaturally does not occur in this spheroid, thus, in the old days, making it a perfect freshwater exporter to the capital. It was even called the capital’s “water bottle”. But, as urbanization continues (the city of Byzantium alone covers 20% of the planet’s total area), all shipments have been banned, as Constantinople seeks to preserve and recycle its water reserves. If Constantinople continues expanding, it might ironically start to depend on water imports to meet its needs.

The fertility of the soil, however, is average, thus pushing Ryccia to look for other, more agriculturally productive colonies. However, it was not abandoned, as space colonization was harder back then, and they wanted territory too.

Planetary Behaviour and Characteristics

Constantinople has a rotation of 26 hours, forcing locals to either rely on the Imperial standard, or use their planet’s hours instead.

Constantinople’s orbit is 373 days, forcing locals to rely on the Imperial standard, usually. But, since it was only a bit isolated by the technology of before and the calendar change is not that drastic, Constantinopolians might use their local standard too, mostly to keep track of the seasons and such.

Constantinople does contain a lot of oxygen in its atmosphere, but it also contains hydrogen, fluorine, helium and carbon. Due to its reactive nature, fluorine does attract a lot of atoms, but since it is found in such scarce quantities, water is possible in abundant numbers.

Constantinople is 1.00003x times bigger than the Earth, technically making it a Super Earth.
Satellites

Constantinople has a satellite, but it is so tiny that it is not seen by the naked eye. It is a tiny oval-shaped body named Little Tear, as it is believed that the locals, when stargazing, thought it resembled a tear.

Lyccia is a planet in The Rim.

Lyccia is named after the historical Lyccia region of what is now Daonlathas. Other than that, it does not share anything with the Core worlds, as it is proximate to the Vonlataias region, thus having a Rim-Vonlataias hybrid culture.

History

The planet was settled for its agricultural potential, as well as the minerals found in the planetoid, including fuel. As its namesake is a Ryccian cultural region, it has Lyccian as a ceremonial language, but, apart from that, it is just a symbolic decoration.

The first settlers did come from the overpopulated Core worlds, but the bulk of this planet’s ancestry is Rim-based, with some small amounts of Vurbentan colonists as well who cannot speak their native tounge anymore.

Geography

The planet has a temperate climate, as well as fertile, rich soil for agriculture. However, that is inland, as the sphereoid’s beaches are littered with Magnesium Sulfate, or Epsom salt. The ocean has abundant quantities of this compound as well. For this, the planet is also mined for this salt possessing medicinal properties for humans (so far).

The planet does possess liquid water in average, tolerable amounts for survival.

The mantle has many layers of minerals, among them a layer of melted lithium and its compound relatives. The nucleus, albeit composed of mostly iron and nickel, does contain trace amounts of titanium and zirconium.

Planetary Behaviour and Characteristics

Lyccia has a rotation of 43 hours, forcing locals to either rely on the Imperial standard, or use their planet’s hours instead.

Lyccia’s orbit is 501 days, forcing locals to rely on the Imperial standard, usually.

Lyccia’s atmosphere also contains high amounts of hydrogen and helium, along with oxygen. Nitrogen and Xenon are also found. Scarce amounts of Chlorine, Ammonia (worry not, it will not be fatal) and Neon are also present.

Lyccia is 1.2x times bigger than the Earth, technically making it a Super Earth.

Satellites

Lyccia has no satellites.

Kristimas is a planet in the Core.

Kristimas is in the southern Core, close to The Rim. As one of the first settled planets, it has a rich and long history, including being one of the few planets in Ryccia that retain Francophone populations.

History

Kristimas was settled for agricultural and mining reasons, as the resources were optimal for spacecraft materials. Wishing to preserve their language and culture against the growing city of Daonlathas, Tigonese preservationists appealed to the Emperor, then an absolute monarch. It was then agreed that Kristimas would be a Francophone colony for 200 years, with only French-speaking, Tigonese settlers allowed to move in. After that, it would be free like any other colony. Thus, 60% of its population is Tigonese, and nearly all of Kristimas’s population speaks French.

The planet still prides itself on its Tigonese heritage, and has a culture heavily based on the Tigonese one, with virtually little changes from the original that came from Daonlathas, or that one that came from Pacifica too.

Today, the planet’s economy is based on agriculture, gambling, finance, tourism, spacecraft manufacturing, and mining.

Geography

The planet is very tropical, with lush jungles prominent in the equator and a wide range of the planet. The northernmost or southernmost fringes of the spheroid are temperate, with only the poles being covered in cold climates.

Kristimas also possesses exorbitant reserves of graphite, and small reserves of graphene (don’t ask if you know, roll with it), one of the strongest materials ever known to man (in Earth). Despite being few in number, natural graphene from this planet was utilized to coat the now ceremonial armour of the Emperors with protective material. This flaunted the Emperor’s extravagance, as graphene can otherwise only be made, not generate naturally.

Planetary Behaviour and Characteristics

Kristimas has a rotation of 32 hours, forcing locals to either rely on the Imperial standard, or use their planet’s hours instead.

Kristimas’s orbit is 231 days, forcing locals to rely on the Imperial standard, usually.

Kristimas’s atmosphere is also composed of oxygen, hydrogen, xenon, methane, nitrogen, and trace amounts of chlorine and hydrogen chloride.

Kristimas is 0.8x times bigger than the Earth.

Satellites

Kristimas has three satellites, one small, round, visible spheroid named Normandie, and two asteroid-shaped moons called Strasburg and Toulon.

Brasschaat is a planet in Novaterra.

Brasschaat is very rural, known for its textiles, textile-based agriculture, fish production, and lumber production.

History

Settled by colonists from The Rim, the Eastern Region and New Daonlathas, Brasschaat was meant to be an agricultural colony, as it is today. Its culture has major elements from Rim and New Daonlathas planets, as well as some Eastern Region influences. However, their culture is considered part of Novaterra, as the entire region was influenced by the other three.

Brasschaat is a rural planet, mainly focused on textile-based agriculture and a small textile industry, along with fish and lumber. It mainly exports its products, most popular being cotton, wool, and mutton.

The planet’s farms have abundant numbers of sheep and sheep-like livestock, along with major cotton plantations. Food grown is not exported often, and the planet sometimes imports it. The few urban centers the planet has run on the textile industry and other planetary services.

Brasschaat, in the Warlord Conflict, was the site of the Battle of Brasschaat, which saw the Novaterran Viceroy Valentina Ianis’s defeat against the fleet of the Imperial pretender, Alexander VII.

Brasschaatians are known to loathe mining, as in the old days, certain sections of the planet were penal colonies, with prisoners often used as slave labour in the planet’s now defunct mines. Not only did it dehumanize the individual, it caused great environmental destruction to certain areas, something from which the planet had only recently recovered from fully. As such, the mere activity of mining is banned by planetary authorities, and any illegal attempts are met with both local police action and localist militia terrorist attacks.

Geography

As a temperate planet, Brasschaat is suited for its kind of agriculture. Grasslands cover the planet in green, as the livestock consume their daily ration from nature. In the frigid north, enormous mountain formations can be observed, and in here, polar resorts are found, which offer a winter wonderland for tourists.

Despite banning mining, Brasschaat is known to have extraordinary mineral reserves, which is one of the reasons it was mined in the past. Economists in the planet predict that, if the local government opens up their deposits for extraction, a huge economic and migratory boom may follow. But Brasschaat remains steadfast in its opposition, with all sides of the local spectrum, from communists to fascists, equally vehemently oppose mining activities.

Planetary Behaviour and Characteristics

Brasschaat has a rotation of 26 hours, forcing locals to either rely on the Imperial standard, or use their planet’s hours instead.

Brasschaat’s orbit is 505 days, forcing locals to rely on the Imperial standard, usually.

Brasschaat’s atmosphere is also composed of oxygen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, helium, nitrogen, and trace amounts of fluoride.

Brasschaat is 0.93x times bigger than the Earth.

Satellites

Brasschaat has five satellites, all of them asteroid-shaped and not visible from the naked eye: Priyis, Vanto, Arinda, Toran and Pastura.
