Better watch out; Goin' for the knockout

Would you continue that system? If so, what changes would you make to the membership of that team (currently Escade, Sandaoguo, Tim, Tsunamy, Drugged Monkeys, and myself)?

Certain decisions, you mean, yes? I'll all about input; I'm not sure if it would be exactly the same set up, but there's rarely a situation where I don't act without talking to several people. If, I would be speaking for the entire region, I imagine it would be even moreso.

If your goal is to mend the relationship with Europeia, surely you welcome having all the correct details about how the current situation came to be?

Honestly, Kris, this was litigated when I was elected delegate the first time. Glen is dusting off this, despite, largely my affinity for Euro has to do with interactions during my delegate turn and after this three-plus year old event we're now deeming important once again. While I appreciate you wanting to set the record straight, we've had this fight before.

If anything, papering over the fact that Euro helped us out after this — remember when they helped transition the delegacy from you to me? — is more insincere than anything. However, I'm aware this won't fit the narrative being advanced.

All that said, I'll repeat that I don't want to re-argue this. As I've acknowledged, my response was based purely on emotions and, due to the fact that I actually want to pay attention to the RMB region rather than lose myself in NSGP, relations with Euro are unlikely to be re-established in the short term.

If my platform is being minimized to "He's going to talk to Euro" rather than "He wants the region to utilize more tools at our disposable for FA" then we're largely missing the point of my campaign.

I don't think I ever criticised you for your desire to seek a closer relationship with Europeia, nor have I given any indication of wanting to ligitate anything. You made a statement that sounded like it implied a lack of contact with Europeia prior to our debable. I felt it was worth pointing out that contact had not been lacking in the months leading up to it; rather, that the relationship had been given greater prominence since I became Delegate.

To me this is a matter of historical accuracy, not a chance to revive any argument, recent or old. What will define your campaign, or how beneficial your policy proposals will be, is something to be decided by the voters of the region. I have no interest in advancing a position of my own regarding that.

Apologies, if I came off as overly defensive; it wasn't about the correct information, nor was the hostility intended toward you, personally, either. I'm happy to both acknowledge that you interacted with more Euro while delegate and that our MoFA at the time didn't.

In any case, I'd be happy to discuss more the point of my campaign rather than discussing a former ally.

What do you plan to do should you not be elected?
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

That is a great question, Omega. And one I'd like to use to toward what will likely be my final post of the campaign.

I started this campaign for a point — one that I feel was aptly made in the Assembly. I didn't feel comfortable letting someone walk into the an elected position and wanted to know their plan. I imagine, Tim would've been forthcoming with his election platform, but also didn't think it was appropriate to be like "Hey, wtf are you going do as MoFA so I decide whether or not I need to run against you?"

Truth be told, if we have the slight overlap which I advocated for in the Assembly, I likely wouldn't have launched a campaign, at all, since Tim was so quick and thorough with his platform.

However, seeing that I launched a campaign, I wanted to push the case for a RMB-focused FA — something I think still could have legs for us. I've mused privately about this prior to the campaign and hopefully made the case publicly now. Instead of getting bogged down with GP stuff, I think it's possible to reframe our focus to speak to the populist masses around NS and imbue good will on a lower level that trying to always go through elected officials. Or, ideally, we'd engage with both audiences. I sincerely hope Tim explores this possibility in his upcoming term.

That said, in the past week it has become abundantly clear to me that I don't have the time to dedicate to this role, even if I did want to follow through on my campaign. My real life commitments are numerous, and, even the time I take to end this campaign is time I should be using toward RL endeavors from writing thank you notes to an conference paper due Friday (which ... I haven't start yet).

All said, I would like to officially withdraw from contention and endorse Tim. I think he'll do a great job as MoFA.

Toward Omega's question, I'm now going to take this campaign ending as a moment to rage-quit and never talk to any of you, again.

But, seriously, I'll be here to help Tim and the rest of our elected officials in any way I can just ... not as much as I did previously.

Thanks for the time, questions and thoughtful discussions. Viva la South Pacific!

I'm really glad you decided to run and prove such a glaring fallacy within the election laws. You also brought up a lot of interesting points with your campaign, which I hope are taken into consideration by the next minister. Thanks for running and I hope you continue to advise the ministry from your unique viewpoint  Heart
