Still Under Attack!
#1

[quote name="Kris Kringle" post="113915" timestamp="1389670651"]
WE ARE STILL UNDER ATTACK!

Months ago the South Pacific found itself enclosed in a gigantic dome and a small group of nations set out to discover who was behind this event and how they could work together to free themselves from their enormous prison. These nations discovered a massive plot to oppress all nations in the region by a dictator, but a mysterious event prevented forces from South Pacifican nations from discovering the ultimate plan of dictator Valentine Black. His dark motives, remain unknown to us.

Some of our goals:

1. Explain the event that prevented South Pacifican forces from defeating the dictator months ago
2. Capture dictator Valentine Black and defeat his forces
3. Find out the weakness of the dome and destroy it
4. Restore communications with the outside world and order in the South Pacific

OOC: This is the sequel of the awesome TSP Under Dome Attack role-play that can be found here: http://forums.thesouthpacific.org/topic/...me-attack/ Feel free to offer suggestions and participate, but keep this thread in-character. Enjoy! Smile

Within the territory of Catacombs...

George Labe-Assimo sat behind the building reminiscing. "How the heck did we get ourselves in this mess?" he thought to himself. George then looked upon the wearied soldiers and civilians lying beside him. He then looked over on his other side and saw the charred wreckage of their downed helicopter. "We've lost twenty people within the past month and we're still stuck here!" It had been months since the BGF sent reinforcements in this desolate area. A sound from the street then alerted him back to reality. George ducked behind the building once more as he saw a tank rolling down the street. One of the soldiers whispered to George, "Sir what should we do?" Before George could answer the man, the tank fired its main gun at a building across the street, reducing it to rubble. "Sir, our soldiers are running scared!" the man whispered desperately. " What should we do?" George took a long look at the tank and his men and then responded. "Anyone got an RPG?"

This is a message to all nations within the South Pacific. This morning we awoke to see a dome over our heads. We are willing to work with anyone who will help us destroy this dome. We have been informed that the "Catacombs" of the South Pacific is responsible. We will be sending troops there to assist in the destruction of the dictator. We are not afraid to use lethal force. If anyone has assisted in the construction of this dome prepare yourself, for we will be visiting you once we are finished with the dictator...

North, capital of Kringalia

Following the appearance of the Dome, several months ago, parts of Kringalia succumbed to looting and vandalism, amid extreme fears from the population that the government was unable of finding a solution to the event. Kringalia's military had been in contact with allied forces assaulting the bunker of dictator Valentine Black when suddenly all communications ceased. No transmissions from Catacombs, no transmissions from anywhere in Kringalia, or the South Pacific for that matter. For the first time since the Independence War, Kringalia was alone.

Months passed, and on January 14th communications suddenly resumed. There were thousands of confusing transmissions, but the one that caught the attention of General Tom Shonen was a transmission from Bundesdeutschland's forces that originated in Catacombs. So allied forces were still alive in Catacombs after all, and most likely there was still hope of apprehending Valentine Black and getting hold of his device. General Shonen went to his office, picked up his phone and contacted the Office of the President.

"General Shonen" answered President Elizabeth Rodgers "now is not the best time. I'm overseeing the restoration of communications with our allies."
"Madam President, we have detected transmissions from Bundesdeutschland's military. It originated in Catacombs."
"This is...quite an interesting development. Prepare a team for deployment General, we need to boots in Catacombs before another nations takes the device from us."

President Rodgers hung up and thought about the implications of what the General had told her. If there were still soldiers alive in Catacombs then Black was probably also alive. If the team she was sending captured him, along with his device, then Kringalia would have the advantage in the months-long operation her predecessor had started. The Dome incident was turning out to be more beneficial than she had previously imagined...

Undisclosed location in Catacombs...

"This is George Labe-Assimo here of the BGF. Does anyone copy, over?" Silence. George Labe-Assimo sighed as he put down the walkie-talkie in frustration. No radio signal from anyone else meant that they were the only ones left in Catacombs to fight. George then picked up his other walkie-talkie and radioed his comrades in the building across the street. "This is Alliance000. Do you read me loud and clear, over?" After a few seconds, the reply came. "This is Eagle Station. We read you loud and clear, over." George then looked out the window of the building he was hiding in and saw a hand waving from the rubble across the street. At the same time, a column of tanks were not far away from their positions. George then ducked down again and then spoke. "Alright, Eagle Station. Do you have the RPGs ready, over?" Eagle Station then replied, "Try looking out the window, over." George peeked again. Over in the nearby hills, groups of soldiers were hiding and were pointing their RPGs at the tanks across the street. He ducked down again. "Alright. I'll give the signal, over!" He peeked out again and saw the tanks heading towards the positions. A Bundesdeutschland flag had been raised over the location where the soldiers were. The men were poised with machine guns and grenade launchers behind makeshift barricades and sandbags. As the tanks rounded the corner, the men started firing. The tanks stopped dead in their tracks and prepared to fire at the position. Turrets rotated towards the position. George then took a pistol from his holster and fired into the air. Suddenly, bands of smoke flew from all sides towards the tanks and hit their marks. The tanks were defenseless. By the time the barrage ended, the tanks laid charred where they had stopped. The soldiers and civilians alike all began leaping out of their hiding places and started cheering. George thought to himself as he saw the sight of celebration, "We got them...for now."

Chairman Grand Bokor Unclepear sat on his throne, staring into a crystal skull, his eyes eerily glowing red. The spacious room of his mansion was lightened only by the moonlight pouring from the great window with the breathtaking view of the Bayougrad bay. But it was no time for relaxing: the dome affair was troubling him.
Despite Bruuma was not directly affected by the weird situation, Unclepear knew things would have changed, but it needed to predict how to properly prepare: If Black would eventually won, siding with him earlier could not only assure his staying in power but also bring a wonder-sized gain. On the other hand, if the STP coalition was to be the winner, being the ally of the loser would certainly end with those annoying “democratic” superpowers bringing “freedom” to the island. But the Loas couldn’t – or wouldn’t -provide a clear answer.
He glanced away, and put the skull on a cushion swiftly brought by a Red Juju who had emerged from the darkness.
He then remembered the teaching of the Master Kim Il Sung: Man is the Master of his destiny. Unclepear decided he would determine what was easier (or possible) for his Dark Powers to do: protect or break the dome. Then he’ll wait for the appropriate moment to side with one or the other.
“Have the dissidents already been rounded up?” he asked to the Juju “Yes Papa” he answered. They were the only one allowed to call him that way. “They are all in their cells in Comrade Samedi Prison”he added. Unclepear wickedly smiled. “Bring a dozen of them to my laboratory, and have another dozen ready at the Prison” he ordered while standing up “I’ll need a lot of sacrifices to fuel my magical experiments”.

The Dome Wars Continue

Escadian Special Forces Deployed in Catacombs - the source of the strange technology overwhelming the South Pacific - barely managed to make their way out alive in their previous encounter and were forced to leave fallen friends behind.

They did recover intel that while the surface of Catacombs was in ruin and teeming with various horross, a nearly impenetrable bunker underneath its rocky surface was where the dictator Valentine Black and his forces operated from within.

Alien ships also covered the South Pacifican skies preventing TSPers from disrupting the domes.

Escadian Military Communications picks up radio signals from other nations trapped under the unbreakable glass walls.

Cruising in below scanner altitude, the fleet of combat VTOLs opened up their neutrino sensor arrays, allowing their commanding officer aboard Sierra 319 to broadcast to any forces that were still fighting in the ruined nation of Catacombs.

The comm officer of the gargantuan VTOL assault ship nodded. 'We have a ping, sir. It's isolated, but it matches our clearance codes. Looks like a BGF expeditionary force. There are a few transponder traces too, sir - they look Escadian. Whoever is left, they'll be getting hammered.'

'Lock in on those sources. Triple-A encryption protocol. We don't want anyone unfriendly knowing we're here.

All friendlies, this is Lieutenant-Colonel Calo Lonnic of the Far-Ocean Recon flotilla, Iyadaran Fifth Fleet. Is anyone receiving this transmission? We have a few surprises with us, our ETA is in 15 minutes.'

He motioned to the comm officer to kill the channel. 'Broadcast this to the fleet: we are going in hot, weapons free. Friendly forces are in the area, so check your targets and your firing solutions. All ground troops, stand by for immediate dust-off. Dervish platoons, deploy full armour shielding. This is the real thing people, make your clans proud!'

In a bunker somewhere beneath Sokolova:

The Iyadaran Caucus members sat around a conference table, hearing the latest security updates. Things would get grim in the coming months...without a means of replenishing water supplies, every nation in TSP was facing drought. For now, hastily-constructed desalination plants had sprung up along the coasts, averting water riots and allowing crops to be grown normally. Still, the lack of imports meant Iyadara was hurting.

A young agent, the adjutant of one of Jared Howell's security specialists in the Srna-an, came bursting in. 'Sir!' He hustled over to where Howell sat.

'Clan Lahun's signal boosting technique worked! They've managed to pick up a few signals from other nations!'

'That's good news, son. How is the reception?'

'Average on most. But the tachyon arrays managed to boost the signal an extra few clicks. We couldn't hear anyone because they're either not talking or can't penetrate the domes. We did manage to get a return signal, from Empyreal City. We can patch them through right now.'

Jared nodded, and the agent's bodycomp holographics lit up as he activated the device, strapped to his left arm. The giant screen in the war room came to life, though the image was for the moment obscured by static.

'This is Jared Howell of the Iyadaran Commonwealth. Please respond if you can. We need an urgent update on the status of your ground forces in Catacombs and any other military presences you might have. We're in intermittent contact with the Iyadaran Fifth Fleet, with the Third Fleet already in the area and joining them within a few hours.'

Across the table, Jheira Cayan locked eyes with her speaker, who nodded.

'This is Jheira Cayan, representative of Clan Cayan. Our defence satellites and starships are deployed in a defensive orbit above Iyadara, with most of them equipped with the ARC Laser system...we are willing to test this system on a dome. One of the tiny island nations in the northern ocean should suffice, the fatality rate will be almost zero should the ARC Laser pierce the dome itself. The beam itself is meson-powered and was specifically designed to overpower shields, defensive screens and armoured targets.'

Army barracks, undisclosed location in Catacombs...

The army had fled after the barrage of RPGs. They were all gone; not a single person left behind. The newly liberated town soon took to celebration, but it was short-lived. BGF soldiers and some civilians volunteers had stormed the army barracks and other bases around the town and had found that the Catacombian soldiers had unwittingly left their arsenal behind. Soon, the BGF and the civilians were armed with MPRLs, helicopters, and other weapons ransacked from the barracks. At the same time, defenses were being built around the town with barricades and checkpoints lining every street and stations built on hills. They were preparing for a much more massive attack from the Catacombian army.

Module A, BSD/AG, over the South Pacific...

The radio operator listened amazingly at the transmissions coming from below them. "Sir!" yelled the operator. "We've got full connection!" The commander came over to the operating station and replied, "Are you sure? What's the news?" The radio operator then took off his headphones and put it on the speakers. The operator then replied as the transmissions were played out, "Sir, I think one of allies is planning to use the space grid to try to destroy the dome! Should we radio them and try to do the same?" The commander then exclaimed, "Of, course! Send them a response!" He then turned to another man next to him. "Private!" he yelled. "Alert the station and ready the lasers!" He paused and then said, "This shield is going DOWN!"

"Thel, you have ten plus enemy foot mobiles and what appears to be a floating jeep approaching from the west." Zakl said as he tagged the hostiles with his sniper' s scope.

"Noted, do not engage yet." Thel said.

"Sir, it appears they have an officer with them." Said Zakl.

"Then these humans may have some honor after all. Signal Harbinger, tell them we have an officer in our sights. Use the encrypted channel. I would rather we don't alert the enemy to our presence right away." Thel said.

"By your honor Shipmaster."

"As for the rest of you, be prepared to move into formation Venom. Move on my mark."

Thel waited until the patrol had passed, and was about a quarter of a kilometer away. He then signaled for the rest of Shadow Company to move. He then activated his portable cloaking device.
Just like ghosts ten Sangheli rose from the ruins. All ten of them appearing to be nothing more then distorted air. Shadow Company slowly followed the patrol until they were only a couple of meters away. Thel pushed a button on a small, metal rod he had been holding, and watched as twin blades made of blue plasma flashed into existence. He then used his energy sword to impale the nearest of the hostile troops. He muffled the scream the man made as Shadow Company did the same. In under a minute, everyone except for the officer was dead, and none of Shadow Company had been scratched. Thel then deactivated his cloak, and mooved towards the officer,

"Where is the bunker!" Thel stated in a deathly calm tone.

"I won't tell you anything!" Said the Catacombian officer.

"Let me ask you this, have you ever felt plasma before?" Thel stated. "If you don't tell me where Dictator Black' s bunker is, you will experience a pain so great, you will be begging to be slaughtered like the rest of your troops."

"The bunker is... GAH!!!" The officer started writhing in pain.

"Where is the bunker! Tell me!!!"
Thel then noticed tentacles starting to emerge from the officer. They appeared to be of a pale yellowish color. The officer then spoke in a deep, almost unhumanly deep voice.

"I see we meet again Arbiter. Did you really think that I could be stopped that easily?"

"No, not here. Not this planet." Thel stated. "You are weak parasite, we shall find you and we shall burn you. Do not think I have forgotten our last encounter." Thel said as he sliced the head off of the officer. He then motioned to Officer Garr Vadamm to burn the body. "I guess we will have to find this bunker ourselves."

"Maybe not," Zakl said. "I am overhearing another militaries comms chatter. They say that they have an orbital laser cannon about to rain down on a dome. Maybe we could get their help finding the bunker."

"Well done brother. Try to see if you can boost my signal through to them" Thel stated.

"Ready and waiting" Zakl said.

Above Catacombs, the VTOLs of the Fifth Fleet's recon flotilla descended sharply on curtains of air. Inside the larger ships, black-armoured Dervishes readied their high-energy particle beam rifles. Spread out among the Dervishes of Shyv Company were platoons of vibroblade-wielding Flagellans led by Captain Arna Fray.

Around five feet from the ground the elite troops disembarked en masse, several hundred troops that melted away into the ruins of the city to clear the drop zone. Within 30 seconds the entire VTOL force was redeploying towards the dug-in BGF ground forces.

The Captain checked his bodycomp and listened to the Arbiter's transmission. 'Arbiter, this is Capt. Fray of Shyv Company. We read you five-by-five. I'm sending you rendezvous coordinates now.'

His second, Lt. Sini, suddenly reported in from the point of the Dervish formation. The Captain listened before resuming his transmission to the Arbiter.

'Arbiter, we have enemy ground-effect vehicles closing on our position from the north. I don't think they know who they're dealing with. We will help you find this bunker once they are dealt with.'

The ground-effect vehicles, mostly jeeps and infantry fighting vehicles, were supported by several dozen infantry. Gliding between the shattered buildings, the lead IFV commander's eyes widened as a beam of energy lanced through the vehicle's engine housing from the rubble to the right, killing the driver and gunner almost instantly. The IFV's power died and it slumped the short drop to the ground. Scrambling away from the now-blazing wreck, he saw that dozens of black-armoured soldiers had appeared all around their positions. Men died screaming as they were drilled through or had bodyparts scythed off by yellowish beams projected from the rifles these men held. In the chaos he ran into a half-collapsed building and tried to shut out the screams. Beside him, there was a flicker of movement from a shadow and he saw a girl in front of him with an elaborate tattoo across her left eye area, wielding a pair of short blades. In a flash she ran one of these blades through him, using the other to flick his weapon away like a child's toy. As he slumped to the ground he realised he was still holding part of the weapon and two of his fingers were missing...

'Arbiter, this is Capt. Fray. We've destroyed what looks like a mechanised recon unit. Most were killed but we have three captives, one of which seems to be a Captain, if I'm reading his insignias correctly. We're proceeding to the rendezvous.'
________

The VTOLs touched down again by the BGF-occupied town, disgorging thousands of regular troops along with supporting fighting vehicles, flitters and scout/recon drones. These troops immediately started fanning out, reinforcing positions, creating hardpoints and killzones where the particle weapons would make short work of infantry and light vehicles. Lt-Col. Lonnic and his personal platoon disembarked from Sierra 319 as soon as it had settled onto the tarmac near the centre of the town. He barked orders into his comlink.

'Find me the BGF commander. If he's expecting an attack, we might not have time for tea, but we need to hold this beachhead. This airspace gets shut tight, hear me? I want drones and Mk I eyeballs to establish a perimeter, nothing moves within a mile of this town without us knowing about it! Get it done, people!'

_________

Far above TSP, Iyadara's weapons satellites concluded their alignment. Aboard one, Commander Erica Kaliko sat in the control centre, watching the rest of the four-man crew finalising their target, the dome over a tiny, almost uninhabited island north of the Rainbow Islands.

The pilot turned to her. 'We have the firing order, ma'am. We also have a coded firing pattern that Clan Cayan thinks will bring down that dome. If it contains some form of adaptive technology, multiple ARC hits should prove too much for it.'

'Very well. Lieutenant, key me in to the sat grid.'

'Done.'

'This is Cmdr Kaliko, we have a go. Commence firing in the coded sequence.'

She offered a silent prayer for anyone their bombardment affected. ARC lasers were precise but could cut through the strongest materials known. Hopefully the damage would be to the dome itself and not anyone within.

A lance of white energy leapt from the lower housing of each Iyadaran satellite, raining down in a random pattern. Some beams were interrupted as they came into contact with (presumably) Catacombian ships, overpowering their shields and burning through the hull, wrecking them. The rest connected with the target dome and were stopped. With no-one on the ground to take readings, the camera telemetry was all they had to go on. After a moment other laser systems, presumably from other TSP nations, opened fire. The dome gave a tortured, almost organic shriek under the bombardment...

Enclave Bihač, Catacombs...

The sight of VTOL landing craft and reinforcements filled the area as troops disembarked from the vessels. Unexpectedly, BGF troops and helicopters also began arriving at the scene. Civilians came out of their houses and cheered as the troops moved in. Near the town's airport, the soldiers began unloading supplies. At the same time, George was in the center of town watching this sight when the Dervish commander arrived. "Ah!" exclaimed George. "You're here!" Suddenly, the dome began to shriek with a strange, organic sound as a bright line of light struck it. "What the heck is going on?!" yelled George to the commander. At the same time, his deputy began radioing back to Bundesdeutschland and the BSA/DG to see what the situation was.

Platform A, BSA/DG, over the South Pacific....

The commander watched as the Dervishes and their own lasers hit their mark. It was a distorted mess. The dome was shrieking and at the same time, it was also writhing, as if it was struggling. Suddenly, amid the gruesome sight, a radio operator yelled, "Sir! Missiles have been fired from the South Pacific!" The commander stared incredulous at the man. "What?! How?!" The frightened operator replied, "I'm positive, sir! Look!" He pointed towards the viewing port. Something was flying towards them...but it seemed organic. Right then, the station rocked as the unidentified objects began firing at the station. The men were knocked senseless. The commander stood and then replied grimly, "Get Rogue Squadron. We're gonna need them."

15 minutes out from Catacombs

A fleet of ship appeared on the horizon. Many were military, others civilian, each hurtling towards Catacombs at top speed.

Farengeto had all but collapsed after communications were lost. Provinces seceded and riots forced the government to flee. This fleet was the last semblance of a central government, managing what they could while hiding off-shore. When communications returned they had spent the next 3 days rallying what remained of the Farengeto Military.

Foreign radio chatter grew increasingly frequent as they closed in. They truly were not alone.

"This is Chancellor Tekari of Farengeto. Can anyone out there read me? We're sending in military reinforcements. Air cover inbound ETA 2 minutes, ground and naval support ETA 15 minutes. Should this operation fail I have authorized the usage of maximum force. I would rather cover the surrounding nations in a cloud that would poison the land for a thousand years than leave this region to die."

Air Force planes, the pride of the Farengeto military, launched from the decks of the carriers. Alien aircraft threatened this operation, but they would gain air superiority.

The Chancellor turned to his staff "See if F.A.S.T. Control can boost its signal and connect to our satellite network. Bundesdeutschland is neighbour and a friend, we must assist their orbital operations."

Somewhere above TSP:

Soon the space around the Iydaran weapons platforms was filled with unidentified craft that fired on the stations in the centre of the formation. Despite the kinetic barriers protecting them, the power drain associated with continuous fire meant their fusion generators wouldn't be able to cope for long.

'Shut down the ARC laser!' Shouted Cmdr. Kaliko, clinging to her command post as the inertial dampening field strained to protect the crew from the bombardment. 'This is ARC One to all starships, we are under heavy, attack, repeat, we are under heavy...'

As the TSP forces scrambled to respond to the counterattack, the enemy formation swept past, raking the stations with fire. A lone heavy fighter detached from the rear of the attackers and accelerated, firing twin torpedoes which slammed into ARC One's barrier generators. The station's point defence gatling lasers opened up, shredding the fighter's front section, but its momentum slammed it at attack speed into the weapons system. Crippled, ARC One spun on its axis and began drifting helplessly into the planet's gravity well.

'Mayday, mayday, this is IDF station ARC One, we require immediate assistance! Mayday, mayday we are going down...'

Capt. Fray's Flagellans secured the rendezvous point while he held back the main Dervish force in case of ambushes.

'Arbiter, we have secured the rendezvous point. My troops have been briefed about your technology and biology, so they know which allies to expect. They will cover you while you move in, I've heard tell of strange enemies in this place. Our troops have reinforced BGF Enclave Bihač to the North-East.'

A Flagellan Lieutenant appeared and saluted sharply. 'Sir! We've procured intel that I think will get us close to the site.' She activated her bodycomp's holo-emitter, projecting the three-dimensional image of what looked like a military complex. Fray hit a button, neutrino-beaming the schematic and conversation to the Arbiter.

'These are tank elevators, barracks, microfusion power nodes and orbital communications relays.' She pointed out each area as she spoke. 'All hidden, all below ground. The site was disguised as military residences, but the neutrino mapper on Sierra 319 was able to get enough resolution.'

'Anywhere that looks like our target?'

'Nothing this close to the surface. However, there is a large maintenance shaft here, plus an emergency air filtration system there.'

'And?'

'Well, there is no there there, sir. The two shafts don't connect to anything. We think it's our bunker - there are power source readings that couldn't be coming from the surface, since everything up here got devastated.'

"Signal T.S.L Sentinel, tell them that 'Iyadara has a weapon platform that needs recovery. Prepare the healing chamber, and prepare to deal with a possible flood outbreak. The survivors may be infected'"

"The message has been recieved by T.S.L Sentinel. They are moving to help."
All of a sudden, Thel heard a voice through his COM.

"Arbiter, the enemy has found us, they have us trapped, but we are not captured. I believe they want to take us prisoner. We are close to the waypoint up on our HUDS, and Alei is wounded, and heavily bleeding. He may not survive much longer."

"Alei is wounded? We shall be there soon. Try to clean the wound, and stop the bleeding." Thel said. "Shadow Company! New orders! Delta is trapped and needs back up. Be prepared for a fight!" Thel then switched his COM's channel "Captain Fray, there will be a delay in our arrival. Three of my team members have found themselves in a tough spot. I would appreciate it if you sent us back up. I have sent you coordinates. Thel out"

Space around the BSA/DG and other space stations over The South Pacific...

The battle raged on. Like all the other stations, the BSA/DG was taking heavy fire and several platforms had been evacuated. Rogue Fighters had sprung out of the hangars and formed a spreadsheet formation before taking heavy fire and dissolving into different sections. In one of those fighters, Captain Dormünd Greeve was fighting for his life. Two enemy fighters were firing on him from behind and were closing in fast on his tail. He shouted into the intercom. "This is Rogue Five! Does anyone copy? I'm taking heavy fire here, over!" All the responses that came back were jumbled and ranged from "AAUUGH!" to his own predicament. He took a moment to look outside the window of his cockpit and saw that the other fighters were suffering heavy losses. One of the stations was hit and was plunging down to the atmosphere in flames. He grimaced and then suddenly banked, causing the fighters behind him to crash and explode into each other. Dortmünd then radioed the station. "Commander! This is Rogue Five! This is a Code RedX! We must commence Protocol 5..."

'Roger that, Arbiter.'

Fray deployed the faster-moving Flagellans to assist the encircled TSL troops while the Dervishes held the areas leading to the rendezvous point. Some of the Flagellans wielded standard heavy energy pistols or flechette guns as their backup weapons, while others detached compact plasma shotguns from the magnetic strips behind their backs which then unfolded into twice their original size. Before long they could observe the enemy troops as they fired on the trapped TSL position, ensuring they kept their heads down but making no efforts to overrun their position.

Silently, the Flagellans crept upon the distracted enemies, taking out several sentries without incident. After a brief pause in which each of the psychically-enhanced troops prepared themselves, they erupted from cover. With the Catacombian troops distracted and the gunfire hiding any sound they did make, they were able to close the distance and begin engaging their enemies before most of the ememy soldiers could notice. After several seconds the screams from the dying soldiers alerted their comrades, with some turning and firing at the Flagellans even though it meant catching their own troops in the firing arc. With their energy shielding overloaded by crossfire, several Flagellans fell before they could reach the nearest cover and a firefight began, though it was clear that the superior weaponry and reflexes of the Iyadaran troops would ensure it didn't last too long. The Iyadaran lieutenant slashed the tracks of a fighting vehicle before attaching a plasma mine to the armour and moving to the next vehicle. Before long several of the enemy vehicles were up in smoke. As she planted her last mine, there was a rumbling noise and she saw a heavy tank lurch into the street from a crossroads...

At the rendezvous point, Capt. Fray heard an awful alien screeching noise coming from where the three prisoners were corralled. He reached the Dervish guards in time to see the prisoners writhing in pain, their flesh twisting and bubbling as if it were hot wax...

Somewhere over TSP:

Cmdr. Kaliko slowly came back to her senses. The lights had gone but had been replaced with a red glow, indicative of emergency power systems running. Her crew were strewn about the bridge, though thankfully near their original positions as the gravity looked as though it had held. Pushing herself up, she noticed the viewscreen was warped and flickering but was maintaining their external view, which was now of a frighteningly close planet.

'Report!'

One crew member was conscious enough to make it to the engineering station. 'Main power is offline, ma'am. We've got gravity and life support, minimal kinetic barriers. Almost everything else is gone.'

'Are we still broadcasting our mayday?'

'Yes, emergency power can keep that going for now.'

'What about attitude control? Do we have any thrusters?'

'We have two, but they aren't facing the direction we need them to. We'd have to wait for our drift to line us up correctly...wait a second...' The Lt. checked the sensor arrays. 'There's a large densometer reading closing on our position. Everything else in the battle appears to be too distracted.'

'Well, lets hope they're friendly. Break out your sidearms. Keep an eye on our rotation, if you get the opportunity, fire those thrusters. I'll be checking the reactors.'

"Deploy the Seraphs! Keep those fighters off of the Sentinel!" said Rtas.

"Seraphs are deploying. We are almost at the weapons platform. I recommend preparing a boarding party to see of we can evac the remaining troops." Said Vaht.

Rtas pressed a button on his captain's throne. "We are approaching the weapons platform. Squad Echo, Vaht will be joining you shortly. Prepare to board, but stay cautious. We do not know if the parasite is on their ship." Rtas said into his SHIPCOM. He then pressed a button to contact the Iyadarian forces. The Dervishes reacted quickest to the warning over the com, blocking the doorway as one of them bodily hurled the Captain aside with one arm. The two in the doorway backed off, readying their particle beams.

The first monstrosity to lurch into the doorway received twin beams in the chest, burning through it and melting an arm off. Another of the mutated captives leapt over its fallen comrade, landing heavily on one of the Dervishes. Others rushed to help him as the third leapt high into the air out of the abandoned building that was the makeshift brig, landing behind a Dervish and seizing his head from behind. As he wrestled with its tentacles it reached down with a human hand, pulled the plasma pistol from his sidearm holster and shot him through the back. It then turned, unloading the weapon at other nearby troops sending them diving for cover. He scorched a second Dervish badly before the combined fire from several cut him apart. Fray shot the surviving one in the head and chest several times, before tapping his bodycomp again.

'Arbiter, we took at least one casualty but the...things are dead. We're dealing with the bodies now. What plasma weaponry we have should make short work of it.'

Enclave Bihač, Catacombs.

The town was in turmoil now as the Catacombs Army was advancing towards the town. Men began rushing to their stations and artillery posts while tanks and soldiers scurried about the streets towards their positions. Planes and helicopters also began taking off from the hangars at the nearby airport to begin bombing runs on the enemy. One of the men on the streets running was George Labe-Assimo. He ran with a mixed squad of BGF soldiers and civilian volunteers towards a flag-topped building. When they reached the top, they ran to their sandbag barricades on the roof and began firing at the invading soldiers. The enemy began dropping dead like flies immediately. As George lay crouched in his position however, he observed something strange happening. He motioned and pointed for his men and said, "Look!" His men looked and what they saw was a gruesome sight.

In the midst of the smoke and ruins of the battlefront, they saw tentacled creatures coming out of the men who had been shot and killed. Some of writhed in pain while others began to morph with the corpses. Soldiers ran about the street, amazed at the sight of the creatures. They lashed out. Some of the dazed soldiers were killed immediately by the creatures, but the rest of the men on the streets fought on, with support from tanks, artillery, and from higher positions within the city. After half an hour of fighting, all that remained of the creatures were dead. However, the Catacombs Army itself wasn't finished with the city and tank battles began erupting on every corner.

Near George's corridor was a T-72 tank. The crew inside had seen George's position and soon began speedily cranking their turret to fire at them. The motley crew on top of the building fired their weapons in vain, with their ammo bouncing off the tanks. George thought to himself, "God help us...we're gonna die." His men crouched and kept firing as the tank prepared to fire. Suddenly, as if by divine intervention, the T-72 exploded and burst into flame. George looked down at where the shot came from and he saw an M-48 tank roll away from the damage. George then crouched down and sighed with relief. "Thank, God!"

Somewhere above Catacombs:

The crew of an IDF VTOL bomber monitoring the area from altitude tracked ARC One's descent through the atmosphere. As it plunged towards the area of Catacombs the fusion core finally destabilised and began melting down, wrecking the platform and turning it into a mangled mess of melted ceramsteel. The bulk of the station remained intact, but debris began raining down on the area and surrounding nations.

With an awful screech the station impacted on what remained of the catacombs dome and the fusion system exploded. The damage suffered by the dome was too great and it collapsed inwards, almost unravelling and vanishing as it broke up. A wave of heat and light washed over the entire nation. The VTOL's instrumentation suddenly went haywire.

'All aircraft, all aircraft, this is Tango 192! The dome is down, repeat, the dome is down! We believe the domes are actually hard force fields containing some kind of matter and energy, be advised-'

The transmission abruptly cuts off and is not repeated.

Somewhere within catacombs:

After removing all technology from the dead Dervish and burning the body, Captain Fray's men moved out, the entire force moving quickly and quietly through the area. Within a short time they had reached the Arbiter's troops and linked up with the TSL force. Fray and the Arbiter finally met and discussed both the wounded and the bunker.

'Arbiter, we know that if we enter that bunker, we may not be coming back out. That's why this force of Flagellans and Dervishes was chosen. Of all the troops of the Commonwealth, these are the most likely to complete such a suicidal mission.

My comtechs have been monitoring the bunker. We haven't picked up any transmissions. This could be because of jamming technology within the bunker itself or a factor of its depth. However we know a great number of Ryccian troops entered the bunker some time ago.

The Dervishes are to be a screening force, as Flagellans are not troops for prolonged firefights. However in close combat you will find no better human and our vibroblades are ceramsteel, which cuts through most known materials with ease. We have nanotech medpacs that could speed the healing of your men-'

At that moment, ARC One burst through the cloud cover and screamed towards Catacombs. As it impacted, Fray shouted for all troops to get to cover, the entire force scattering into whatever hiding places they could find...

Enclave Bihač, Catacombs.

Iyadaran VTOLs began tracking the 'skippers' and taking down those they could intercept with gatling guns and particle beams, doing their best to assist their beleaguered BGF allies. With a rumble, Sierra 319 lifted off again, adding its considerable fire to the defensive formation. All around Bihač the Iyadaran hardpoints kept the Catacombs forces, being constantly bolstered by parasite forms, under a withering curtain of fire. Thanks to the blockades, the enemy vehicles were being shepherded towards certain areas, allowing BGF and Iyadaran anti-armour units to take them out piecemeal. Soon the approaches to the city were littered with burning tanks and fighting vehicles, making the going even tougher for the enemy armoured forces. The hardpoints allowed the BGF forces a good deal of free movement, allowing them to reinforce their positions where needed. The allied positions were holding with few casualties.

Lt-Col Lonnic and the BGF commander conferred during the battle.

'Comrade, we just received word that the Iyadaran Third Fleet has arrived in the vicinity and should be deploying further forces to Catacombs in the near future. Our spec ops troops are also closing on what they believe is the entrance to the bunker complex in concert with TSL forces. We have to hold here as long as we can.'

____________________________________________________________________________________

After dusting themselves off and waiting for their vision to clear, the Iyadaran forces not protected by faceplates slowly realised that the Catacombs dome had completely disintegrated.

'This is Capt. Fray of the Iyadaran Far-ocean recon flotilla to all Ryccian forces. We have a small force of Dervishes/Flagellans and are preparing to assault the primary bunker complex with the assistance of TSL troops. Our main expeditionary forces are under heavy fire assisting the BGF in an enclave to the North East, not far from the bulk of your main force. Can you assist them? Intel suggests there are Farengeto forces in operation in Catacombs as well as the possibility of some surviving Escadian units, though thus far we haven't encountered any.'

Fray then turned to the Arbiter. 'Our time is running out. Catacombs is throwing everything at Bihač, giving us a chance to find the bunker. I'm going to give the order to move in once your men have had nanotech healing...it will take a few minutes to work, but the tissue regeneration is flawless.'

At the Rendesvous Point

Thel watched as two large, purple, and very circular pods fell from the sky. One appeared to be much larger then the other. He knew what they were. One was a Locust-Class Fortification Destroyer with a powerful plasma beam that could melt through a meter of steel almost instantaneously. The other, was filled with a dozen "Centurions", experimental combat suits that rivalled the Mjolnir Mk. V suits. Thel watched as his troops started to grab their gear. Fully healed and decked out with these suits, Shadow Company would be deadlier then ever.

Ten minutes later, Thel and Shadow Company strode towards Captain Fray. Each Sangheli was clad in thick, grayish-green body armor. It appeared to have multiple overlapping plates of some organic looking metal. There was no circuitry visible on the armor, yet the sound of machinery was heard coming from the suits. Each was outfitted with a very strong personal shielding system, an anti-grav jetpack, and a cloaking device. It also had a deployable energy shield attached to the left arm, and a small, deployable energy blade attached in the under the wrist on the right arm. To sum it all up, Shadow Company was ready and willing to obliterate anything in their way. Thel then spoke to Captain Fray.

"Captain Fray, we are ready to move. With the dome shattered we have recieved ordanance from the T.S.L Harbinger, and can call in air support from them as well. When are we moving out?"

Fray activated his own personal shield, with the rest of the Flagellans following suit. Behind them, the blank-faceplated Dervishes also pressed studs on their articulated armour. At a nod from their squad leaders, every soldier readied his or her firearm.

'Now, Arbiter. We move now. I recommend we infiltrate via the large maintenance shaft here on the schematic. It looks wide enough to admit vehicles, so it should suffice. I am choosing a small squad of Flagellans to use the alternate route through the air filtration system. It looks just big enough to admit an unarmoured and unburdened human, so they should make it.'

Allowing the TSL troops to set the pace, the entire EDF force moved quickly and quietly through the ruins towards the ruins of the military site that hid the bunker entrance. As they got within a few hundred metres of the site, a dozen of the Flagellans detached and moved away, quickly vanishing into the rubble in the direction of the air filtration hatch.

"Hello, is there anyone out there?"

Military Commander, Jacques Iden believes that now may be the time to conduct another strike.

We need to work quick, for it would be a great dishonor to have the elders arrive and find the mess we are in. We will be equipped with standard spec-ops gear, along with long range recon gear. We will not be receiving air support on this mission. Keep radio silence as much as possible, unless we need to work with the humans. Are we clear?"

"By the blood of our fathers, and the blood of our sons, we shall stop Dictator Black!" All twelve members of Shadow Company said in unison.

" Now, prepare for infiltration!" Said Thel Vadamm.

Aboard T.S.L Sentinel

"Thel, we have recieved your transmission, and are moving to rescue the Iyadarian forces on their weapons platform." Said Rtas Vadamm. "Vaht! Prepare the weapons! We have missiles inbound!"

"Plasma lances are deployed. Missiles down." said Vaht Vadamm.

"This is Rtas Vadamm of the T.S.L Sentinel, we are approaching your ship and are preparing to board. We will be armed, but are here to evac you off of that platform."

"The parasite! It has infected them!" Thel screamed. "Captain Fray, keep your squads together! The area is infested with The Flood! They will most likely try to infect your Dervishes and try to commander them. This parasite is very adaptive. Make sure no high ranking officers fall to them! I'm not certain, but I think they might have enough mass to create a proto-gravemind. If they do, then it will most likely be in Black's bunker." Thel then noticed a large amount of the fallen enemy soldiers were starting to squirm and convulse. "We have infection Flood inbound, prepare to defend yourself!

As the boarding craft docked with ARC One, the commander ordered her small crew to the airlock for evacuation. As the doors opened, revealing their rescuers, she faltered a little but soon brushed it off. These people were here to get them away from the stricken platform.

Rendezvous point:

The Ryccian Troops had seized victory in 8 towns by now, when suddently...
BOOM!
"What was that?" said a soldier.
"I don't know, but we better find out" said an officer.
Then they encountered some troops from another army, but it wasn't Catacombs. It was probably Dervishes.
Hiding, a Ryccian soldier said: "What are they doing, sir?"
"I don't know" replied Commander George "but we don't know if the Dervishes are allies or enemies, so we better shut up and see what happens".

January 26th, 2014.

"Thel! We have rescued the Iyadaran troops on the weapons platform. We are preparing to purge it. Once we have sliced through the platform the beam will hit the dome over Catacombs, we are not sure whether it will slice through the dome or not." Rtas said.

"Rtas! Do not purge the platform! It may break the dome when it comes down. We will deal with the infestation on the ground if it does. Otherwise the parasite will be destroyed on impact with the dome." Thel said.

"By your honor Arbiter"
Thel then changed his COM channel, " Captain Fray, We have wounded. I suggest we don't assault the bunker until they are healed. These are my only troops on Catacombs, I want to make sure each and everyone of them comes back. They won't take long to heal. Only a day or two with the proper treatment. We can discuss how we assault the bunker then."

"Still, we must be brave and ask them, no matter the cost". Minutes later they sent a paper containing these questions:
Are you allies or enemies of Catacombs?

The Ryccians, after reading this, sent another letter saying: "We'll help them". Minutes later, they moved out of the bunker and began to say it to the other troops in the last town that was took over by the Ryccian Army.
"We'll move now. Go go go go!" said the General.
3 hours later they had found the place that they were supposed to help the BGF Troops. They began to fire at their enemies at cold blood. "How could we let these troops find my bunker!" Valentine Black exclaimed. "Who is in charge of the scouts?!?" A tall, skinny man steps foward , trembling.

Valentine Black then reached into his pocket and pulls out a small container. Inside appears to be a small, tan ovalish creature with many tentacles underneath it, a Flood infection form.

"You have failed me. You shall join the Flood."

After he says those words Valentine Black unlocked the container, and the infection form inside leaped towards the failure of a Leuitenant. All of Black's Leuitenants turn away as a disgusting, fleshy sound is heard. Then came many screams. When they turned back the failure of a Leuitenant was gone, and he was replaced by an abomination. His body appeared to be stretched beyond what would seem possible. The abomination stood around 15 feet tall, barely fitting in Valentine Black's meeting room. His arms were replaced by long, whip like tentacles and his feet appeared to be hooves comparable to those found on an elephant. Coalition Barracks, Kresnica, Catacombs.

In the barracks while the others had lunch, George Labe-Assimo was sitting in his room and pondering to himself the events that had taken place within the past few months. The events were returning to him: the capture of Bihač, the siege, the temporary victory, and eventually, the fall and destruction of the city to the Flood. He thought to himself, "Why did I let so many die?" Images of soldiers and civilians alike dying in the streets caused by the Flood reemerged in his mind again. George shuddered at the memories. "How did I end up in this mess?!" He stood up and, in anger, kicked the chair besides him. He sighed and laid himself on the bunk bed, contemplating what his next move was. It was after 20 minutes that George then sat, stood up, and said to himself, "I know what I must do." He walked out towards the command center, thinking about his decision he had just made.

Coalition AirHub, Kresnica, Catacombs.

The Coalition was preparing for a counter-attack against the virulent hordes of Flood mutants and needles. Months of preparing, re-supplying, and training had led up to this very moment. The offense against Bihač was to be in two days and the soldiers in the barracks were tense. One thought rang out in the minds of the men: "what would happen?"
