International news | Valkyrian company promoting socialist revolutions abroad
By Devin Brooks
Thursday, 25 April 2019

Stockholm (The Macais Journal) — On Thursday, a non-profit organisation called Unrestricted Voice leaked internal documents from the Valkyria-based private military company Vorsica, which show the company smuggling weapons into regions such as Bruuma and Reizen and providing them to socialist organisations such as the Worker's Party of Reizen. The company, which is owned by Alessandra Rhys, a member of the Valkyrian Socialist Party, denies that it is doing what is alleged in the leak. Responding to the leak, Opposition Leader Nicole Chancellor has called for the arrest of Rhys and pondered whether weapon smuggling is the only crime that Vorsica has committed.

The Chief of the National Police states that, even if the leaks from Unrestricted Voice concerning Vorsica were legitimate, the government has not designated the Worker's Party of Reizen as a terrorist group. Therefore, Vorsica cannot be prosecuted by the Valkyrian government.

Valkyrian politics | Stella Kaufman is the leader that Valkyria needs
By the Editorial Board
Monday, 3 June 2019
Published by The Vancouver Times

Conservative leader Stella Kaufman

For more than three years, Qvait and then Valkyria has been led by Margaret Harrison and the Left and what has been their most significant accomplishment? The legalisation of cannabis? The legalisation of coca production? It would seem that Harrison and the Alliance turned Valkyria into a narco-state. When Harrison campaigned to become President of Qvait in 2015, her campaign slogan was "peace, freedom, and democracy". Peace? During her leadership, Harrison has rarely utilised the Valkyrian Defence Forces to maintain peace in the world when the world is burning as evidenced by what has happened in Sereva and Reizen. Freedom? During her leadership, she has engaged in political repression against those who oppose her by pushing the narrative that a right-wing cult exists in the Silesian province. Democracy? During her leadership, Harrison did not promote democracy in the Frost Empire and turned to inaction while Bruuma has been spreading revolutionary communism and tyranny throughout the South Pacific. Where is this peace, freedom, and democracy that Harrison promised us and the world?

The Leader of the Conservative Party, Stella Kaufman, won the party leadership in December 2018, defeating former Qvaitican president Jonathan Victor in what many would say was a complete shock to the system. Since then, she has gained favour among those in The New Right, including Opposition Leader Nicole Chancellor, and those in the Centrist Democratic Party. In April 2019, Kaufman and Chancellor agreed to form the New Conservative Coalition as a viable counter to the Alliance of Social Democrats. Now, the Coalition will need the support of the Centrist Democratic Party to be able to effectively challenge the Alliance, which will not be a difficult task now that Victor Cutter, who adamantly opposed any coalition involving Chancellor, is no longer the leader of the CDP. The right-wing of Valkyrian politics, which was so divided after the breakup of the United Conservative Party in 2016, is now more united than ever. When Kaufman was elected Leader of the Conservative Party, she said, "A clash of personalities—not ideologies—is the reason why a new United Conservative Party cannot be formed. I am here to change that." She did, in fact, changed it.

If Kaufman succeeds in becoming Chancellor of the Valkyrian Republic, she said the first order of business would be passing the Expansion of Security Powers Act, a bill that would give more unrestricted powers to the Intelligence Directorate-General and form what she calls the Strategic Intervention, Emergency Guard, and Enforcement (SIEGE) Component. In Kaufman's words, the purpose of SIEGE would be to "oversee Valkyrian intelligence, military, and police activities that are considered essential to the security of the state". When she served as the Shadow Secretary of Intelligence, Kaufman warned that the "integrity of the state has been compromised by malicious actors, both foreign and domestic". The Conservative leader warned that "radical socialists have infiltrated the government" and foreign countries such as Hystaiga, Bruuma, and Reizen only serve to harm the security of the state, thus necessitating the creation of a government agency with powers to detain and possibly even kill those who threaten the security of Valkyria.

On the issue of Valkyria's membership in the World Forum, Kaufman has stated that she "[does] not care" whether Valkyria remains part of the organisation and promised to hold a referendum in 2020 on the issue. However, she also said that she would not wait on authorisation from the World Forum to take military action in Reizen, "Harrison said that she would not use the resources of the Valkyrian Defence Forces in Reizen unless she had the approval of the World Forum. I won't follow this policy. Valkyria is a sovereign nation and we will exercise our sovereignty whenever and however we wish. We have a right to self-determination." When asked in March 2019 about the Worker's Party of Reizen, Kaufman said she was willing to "cut the head off the snake" by using the Valkyrian Special Services.

Opposition Leader Nicole Chancellor

With Kaufman's field of expertise being foreign security policy, she would likely delegate domestic security policy to Nicole Chancellor. When it comes to immigration, Chancellor could look to place limits on the number of people who migrate to Valkyria and institute her long proposed zero-refugee policy. For years, Chancellor has criticised Harrison for allowing an unlimited number of refugees into Valkyria and promised to deport them if she became part of the government. With the Departments of Immigration, Intelligence, and Justice merging to form the Home Office, Chancellor could very well opt to take the role of Home Secretary and control over the national security apparatus. While the Alliance claims these policies to be "xenophobic", it is an incontrovertible fact that Valkyria is for Valkyrians.

When the Home Office opens in August, the National Police will come under the jurisdiction of the department and the potential control of Chancellor, who would immediately close the Office of Cultist Movement Investigations. The Leader of The New Right has repeatedly stated that the notion of cultist groups existing in Valkyria is "a fiction pushed by the Populist Left in order to repress people who don't share their political views". Instead, Chancellor hopes to open the Office to Counter Political Repression in order to investigate cases in which people are being discriminated based on their political or religious views. The creation of the OCPR will help conservatives in Valkyria live without being denied service or being assaulted simply because of their political or religious views. The Harrison government decided to ignore conservatives and Chancellor could end this.

On the issue of agriculture, Chancellor wants to provide more subsidies to farmers and ranchers to help the industry in Valkyria. She has stated in the past that the Populists of the Left were ineffective in serving the electorate that they represent. The New Right leader also promised to provide more funding to agricultural education in schools and universities across Valkyria, especially those in rural areas. In April 2019, Chancellor said that "industrialisation has led to the government forgetting about the agricultural industry" and reminded people that it is the agricultural industry that produces the country's food.

While Kaufman would likely be willing to delegate various other policies, trade policy will likely become a contentious issue within the Coalition. The Conservative Party has historically supported free trade with other countries and Kaufman has made several statements endorsing it as well. However, The New Right does not share the same view with Chancellor expressing views in line with protectionism and economic nationalism. Several prominent members of The New Right would very much like to see various existing free trade agreements repealed and tariffs enacted on different imports. Trade policy is an issue that would need to be resolved during post-election negotiations if the Coalition wants to seize the government from the Alliance.

Centrist Democratic leader Bradley Murphy

If the Coalition is to have any hope of winning the election, it will need the support of the Centrist Democratic Party. After Victor Cutter resigned as party leader to campaign for President of the Valkyrian Republic, the party elected Bradley Murphy as its new leader. While Cutter was hostile to the notion of forming a coalition with Chancellor, Murphy has been generally quiet on the possibility and the party's support for either the Alliance or the Coalition could go either way in the election. The support of the Centrist Democratic Party is important because it is the largest party in Parliament that is not a part of any coalition and polls show that the CDP could be make or break for both the Alliance and the Coalition. Since the CDP is naturally a conservative party, it would be more inclined to join the Coalition.

The reason why it would be difficult for the Alliance to convince the CDP to join their ranks is because of the Socialist Party, which is too far to the left for their liking. The CDP is closer ideologically to the Conservative Party and The New Right. The CDP shares many views with the Conservative Party, with the most prominent exception being the privatisation of important government services, which the CDP generally opposes. This is likely going to be the second contentious issue in negotiations after the election but is easier to resolve than trade policy. Given current polling, the Coalition (with the inclusion of the Centrist Democratic Party) stands a better chance at winning the election than the Alliance, rightfully returning the country to conservative hands for the first time since 2016.

The editorial board of The Vancouver Times is proud to endorse Stella Kaufman, the Conservative Party, and the New Conservative Coalition in the upcoming election.

Valkyrian politics | Margaret Harrison has led Valkyria into greatness
By the Editorial Board
Tuesday, 4 June 2019

Valkyrian Chancellor Margaret Harrison

Peace, freedom, and democracy is something that does not come overnight. On Monday, the editorial board of The Vancouver Times published an article attacking Valkyrian Chancellor Margaret Harrison and endorsing the Coalition. While there was little substance in their article, it was very insightful on showing us where they stand and what they actually believed. They showed that they now believe in the lies and distortions fabricated by The New Right. They have abandoned the intellectual leaders of Valkyrian conservatism—Victor Cutter and Jonathan Victor—who previously served as Presidents of Qvait. The article proved that The New Right was successful in pushing an anti-intellectual brand where truth is not only trivial, but is even malleable. However, we at The Sydney Times will never accept that truth is malleable. Truth is important.

And so, what exactly is the truth? Here's the truth: when Margaret Harrison campaigned to become President of Qvait, her campaign slogan was "peace, freedom, and democracy". Where did this slogan come from and why did Harrison choose these words to represent her campaign? The truth is that there was no peace, freedom, or democracy in Qvait heading into the 2016 presidential election. Under Conservative leadership, the Qvaitican government was one of the most corrupt in the South Pacific. Backroom deals and the occasional murder plot perfectly summarised the culture that Conservatives fostered in Qvait. Why else was President MacArthur Knight, a Conservative, was assassinated in his sleep by one of his own people in Executive Qvait? Why else did Qvait plot the invasion of Sporaltryus?

After Harrison was elected the mayor of Darwin in 2005, she faced government corruption on a daily basis. A culture of violence that existed in the city was perpetuated by a police force that took bribes and whipped out their batons if a person looked at them wrong. In 2007, Harrison was the target of assassination when several members of the police force nearly shot her. This is the truth and reality that The Vancouver Times was unwilling to share in their endorsement article. While they ask, "Where has peace, freedom, and democracy gone," we can tell you the cold, hard truth that there was no peace, freedom, or democracy to begin with in Qvait. It was a country that began as an absolute monarchy, turned into a fascist dictatorship, and could anyone seriously expect such a damaged country to be one of peace, freedom, and democracy?

When The Vancouver Times says they want to "[return] the country to conservative hands", this is what they mean. In all reality, they don't want peace, freedom, and democracy—they want to turn back the clock. So, what is it that they want to reverse?

Populist Left leader Taeler Shaw

After the Labor Party won control of the executive and legislative branches of government in the 2016 Qvaitican elections, the government passed the Social Democratic Reform Act 2016, a wide-reaching piece of legislation that affected every facet of Qvaitican life. With one signature, life in Qvait changed so suddenly that it sent a ripple across the country. All of a sudden, all of the following things happened: trade unions where given the right to collectively bargain, same-sex marriage was legalised and anti-discrimination measures were put in place, felony disenfranchisement and capital punishment were abolished, and many immigration restrictions were lifted. With the SDRA, Harrison and the social democrats successfully passed everything that the right-wing staunchly opposed.

However, the SDRA is not the only legislation that the Conservatives hope to repeal. There are several National Health Service Expansion Acts over the years that have been a thorn in their side. After the unification of Qvait and Winston Island, Harrison and the social democrats constitutionalised several popular aspects of the SDRA to make sure that the only way for the Conservatives to undo them was through referendum. Another move that Harrison made was Referendum 2 (2018), which legalised physician-assisted suicide, an issue that the right-wing also staunchly opposed. With its passage, the right to die was the next thing to be constitutionalised. Harrison made sure that the only way that Conservatives and The New Right could reverse everything that she accomplished was through the vote of the people.

As President of Qvait and later as Chancellor of Valkyria, Harrison brought routine audits and transparency to the national government and cleaned up the corruption that had existed. To hold the police force, Harrison nationalised them to come under one umbrella—the National Police. Since then, corruption in the police force has been nearly unheard of with the audits, body cameras, and gun safety legislation. Crime statistics have shown that the country is more peaceful than it has ever been in the past and that was caused by taking guns off the streets and shifting our criminal justice system toward rehabilitation. The government is no longer locking convicts up in solitary confinement and making them forget what ordinary life looks like. Instead, the government is actually teaching them how to be better people. Recidivism is dead.

Socialist leader Amalia Rollins

In the article that The Vancouver Times published, they asked for Harrison's accomplishments. Well, look no further. In 2016, Harrison saved Qvait and now Valkyria from Conservative malfeasance. She was the only one who was bold enough to alter the status quo and bring peace, freedom, and democracy to Valkyria. The people of this editorial board believe that we and the rest of the country owes Harrison a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid. Like a phoenix, our country rose from the ashes into something beautiful and this was accomplished under the leadership of Chancellor Margaret Harrison and we believe that she deserves another three years as the leader of our country. Margaret Harrison is not an ordinary person—she is a stateswoman and the greatest world leader of this era.

The editorial board of The Sydney Times endorses Margaret Harrison, the Labor Party, and the Alliance of Social Democrats in the July 2019 general election.
