"None thus far.  The Imperium been a source of lucrative trade and protection for countless worlds within our borders for thousands of years.  The closest thing we have had to a secession in has been the various megacorporations making claim to asteroids or locations on habitable worlds to build corporate retreats, and even those follow our business and labor regulations."

"Ah... Interesting behaviour" Teemas nodded slowly.

"Throughout the long Drakari history, have any worlds been annexed by force?"

The skycar drew ever closer to the palace as the two conversed, the pilot listening to some xeno pop music on a low volume.

"There has only been one that we had brought into the fold by force, and that was only after they forced our hand:  the Kri'ghal Empire, who's crimes stand as a cornerstone of our military's duty as peacekeepers and enforcers of justice, even after nearly two thousand years since their defeat."  Julianus let out a bestial growl as he spoke.  It appeared that the name of that species was enough to bring forth a righteous anger in the young man.

Two thousand standard years ago? The Treecuu Empire was barely two hundred years old. The Drakari civilisation was indeed old. Yet the two empires seemed comparable in technological development. The Drakari must have stagnated somehow, thought Teemas.

"The Kri'ghali crimes must have been truly heinous, still affecting the Drakari. How old is your empire?"

"The homeworld unified under a single banner roughly 12,000 years ago, with the discovery of Warp Space occuring roughly five hundred years later.  Our most recently colonized sector was founded just under a millennia ago, centered around the Typhon system."

"The age of your empire is impressive, emperor. Twelve thousand years ago, my species basically still lived in caves" Teemas smiled humbly.

"However, a spacefaring civilisation spawned on our homeworld hundreds of thousands of years ago. They soon destroyed themselves, but a few of them managed to survive on a neighbouring planet. My species evolved in their place, and when my ancestors achieved space flight they travelled to them. They formed a close friendship. Together, we call ourselves Treecuu."

"Ah... it is fortunate that you had a brother-race born on your world, even if the ages had kept you apart for so long.  A clan should never be kept apart from one another."  The young monarch smiled in understanding, the skycar coming to a halt before descending to the ground below.

"A delightful tour, emperor" said Teemas as she noted that they were about to land.

"Just like the view from this vehicle suggests, you preside over an empire with a rich and ancient history. I am glad we got the chance to discus its history and its place in present Drakari society."

Julianus smiled at his guest as the skycar landed and adjusted himself towards the door.  "It was my pleasure to show you around the capital, Emissary.  I look forward to further discussions with you inside the palace."

After the engines were deactivated, the pilot opened the door with a press of a button, causing them to slide open to reveal an honor guard on either side of the avenue leading up to the palace entrance.  The guards stood as still as statues, clad in blue-colored, beautifully decorated combat armor and appeared to be carrying what seemed to pole-arms of advanced metallurgy and care.  Upon closer look though, the Treecu ambassador would see what seemed to be an energy weapon projectors above the blades.

"Knights Imperator, present arms!"  At the roaring command of their captain, the assembled guards tilted their weapons forward ever so slightly, blade first, towards the avenue.
