[IC] Stories from the Global Games
#1

Castiana, Ryccian Federation

Crowds cheer. The roaring multitude longs for myself to finally do so. How tense!

I am Hans Volkrem, the long jumper for Ryccia in this contest. Those people await my sprint towards victory, or defeat. They are my fellow breathen.

I cannot let them down.

"Hans Volkrem, from the Ryccian Federation...Hans Volkren, fåst Førbandetka Rissia"

I go first, as the host nation does. It makes it even more nerve-wrecking, as other contestants might surpass me.

Let's go.

I start my dash. I run, run, run...then...

I take a leap of faith.

THUD

As the judge raises the white banner of success, I obtain my result.

"Pass! 8.65 meters!"

"8.65 meters!...8.65 metren!"

Not too shabby.

Minutes later...

I did not win a medal. Athletes from other nations have succeeded. The Gilander got first place, followed by...Qaweritoyu? Where's that?

Our brothers across the sea, Kyrini, reaped a bronze medal from this event, and the Irykian collected the steel medal.

At least I did well for my country. At least I am here.

The scoreboards were up for display, and I saw the results. It was quite irritating to see it. Indeed, the Peocracy shant be content with just bronze, and her olympians certainly did not train for so long about it.

Athlete after athlete with their longbows and their sharp skills, only one managed to get into first place. The others had to be content at getting third. Being a nation where the way of the arrow is instilled in the deepest roots of the Peocracy, what a shameful result to be seen.

I could imagine being told off by the minister, he wont be pleased with the performance of our athletes. I know that because the calls from Bow Master Shinomiya has been nothing but pure loathing towards the athletes. Old geezer.

Soon is the next games, and upon returning back, I see our olympians crying in the breakroom. I can understand, of all the fields, why here, in a field where we are seen not as those that perfected the art, but the ones that contributed much to its development.... I hope we can rebound soon, I am sick seeing these bronzes.
