Auditor General Act
#11

I really think this is not necessary simply due to how contextually driven these types of issues can be. To just slap an oversight committee on like a bandaid seems somewhat lazy and inefficient. Sure there will be time where a committee should be formed and will be needed but there will also be times when other solutions are more ideal. I believe retaining the freedom to approach these issues case by case as an assembly is the ideal way to ensure the best action is taken on issues in the future.

Dear Legislators

I originally considered that any current sensitivies may be salvageable and that an auditor would have been a useful mechanism to avoid similar situations (based on the original MoNC) arising again in the future.

Whilst an 'official' Auditor, in my view, still has merit, given the ongoing situation and the general consensus i am happy to withdraw .

Dear Belschaft et al.,

Thank you so much for your questions and comments.

In particular to Belschaft, i am sorry. Particularly if my response caused you frustrations (which i fully understand). Given the sensitive nature of the current situation and the genrally accessible nature of where the proposal was placed, I did not want to offend anyone or breach any protocol - i do hope you understand. I gratefully appreciated your questions and feedback.

I thank the Assembly for it's time.

@Beepee - you didn't frustrate me. It's always good to see people sharing ideas and participating in the Assembly, especially those new to TSP.

I make a point of trying to treat everyone in the same manner, regardless of their time in NS or TSP - and that means subjecting their proposals to the same level of scrutiny, should I feel it necessary.

Your draft was well written, readily comprehensible, and appeared legal - that's more than many people achieve, even after years in NS & TSP. I didn't think it was a great idea, but that's no reason to be discouraged - you should have a look at how many of my ideas have come to nothing over the years, or been brought to vote and then rejected by the Assembly.

Agreed with Belschaft. While I disagreed with the idea, I think it was a really well-written proposal, and clearly came from a well-meaning place. It's always great to see newer members getting involved in the Legislature, and especially when they're drafting things up themselves!
