I disagree with your viewpoint since if you kill half of your voters, then your opponents will win the election.

Not quite. If there are 16 votes for my opponents and 17 votes for me, there will be 8 votes for my opponents and 8.5 votes for me, and the universe will be perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
