[PASSED] A1907.01: Omnibus Package — Military Alignment

I like your amendments, Somy, but have some concern over the inclusion of 'Totalitarian' - is there a way to write this to rule out consensual RP in this area? I think we would only be opposed to totalitarian regimes which are actually oppressing their natives against their will in some way, right?

Good point. Maybe we could say "those regions which espouse hateful ideologies, have totalitarian regional governments, and..."? Or we could just replace the use of "totalitarian" altogether-- "those regions which espouse hateful ideologies, oppress their residents against their will, and...". I'm sure there's a more eloquent way to write it.

"those regions which espouse hateful ideologies, oppress the out-of-character freedoms of their residents, and..." ? Or rights instead of freedoms? Or deny instead of oppress?

Personally, I think that if it regards the rights, use "deny", while if it regards the citizens, use "oppress". But it's up to you.

And why not "rights and freedoms"?

I don't think that a GCR going defender is the right way to go-and here's why.
GCRs are naturally regions people spawn (is that the right word?) in when they make their nations. As a GCR, we have to be as welcoming to those nations as possible. Saying "you have to be x ideology or else you can't make a difference here" is NOT welcoming, and that is my main region for not supporting declaring ourselves defender.
A defender-leaning cabinet that enacts defender policies? Sure, so be it. But if the people of TSP want to see a change? That would be hard to do if being defender is written into law. And even if TSP wants to make a change, that might not happen, because anyone who isn't full W&S-Glen defender would leave, and we'd become an echo chamber of political ideals.
If you want to join a defender region, then join XKI or TGW. But we shouldn't force an ideology onto new nations who happen to be created in TSP.

One, shouldn't this be in the other thread?

Two, haven't all these arguments been refuted in that other thread already? I'm not going to rehash that here. Still, it's good you have a clear position, I guess. I respect that, even if I disagree

That argument is rather flawed. I’m pretty sure we’ve already established that there are many ways to make a difference in this region.

If we go defender officially and you're unaligned/independent, you have virtually no chance of becoming MoMA, MoFA, PM, or Delegate.

I don’t see how that would be true.

Who cares if it is true?

There are a lot of things you can't exactly be in TSP — homophobic, racist, a predator, etc. That's why there are oodles of other regions out there. As a GCR we can politely explain to them where they landed and offer them a rundown on the NS landscape — as we've been doing for years already.
