[DEBATE] Amendment to the Judicial Act (Plea Bargains)
#21

Could be a "rotation" of judges be the answer? I mean, each 3 months, our region the South Pacific could vote for choose new judges, maximum a judge can be chosen twice in a row and won't be eligible for others 6 month's (minimum), in case of attempted abuse of power etc, the judge will lose all his/her juridical privileges, and him/her can't be a judgeat least for 1 to 2 years.

Hi President of Vox,

Thank you for the suggestion. It’s always wonderful when we have new Legislators contributing their fresh ideas to the discussion Blush

Unfortunately, I’m not entirely confident that rotating our bench is the best course of action. It is rather challenging for the Cabinet to find qualified and (often more importantly) willing individuals to serve on the Court. I’m afraid of the possibility that we may end up with a lot of empty positions if we begin rotating.

May I ask, what is the reasoning against plea bargains? I am in support of this resolution but I want to know the motivation behind this ban.

Prime Admiral Amerion, now what you make me think about it, yes there's the possibility of end up with empty positions if you begin rotating, by the way from the Republic Of Vox, we'll support any legislation we consider import for our region the South Pacific.

We had elected justices for years. We scrapped it years ago because:
  1. There were generally few candidates.
  2. Political election campaigns just made everything worse.
  3. The quality of candidates that did get elected were often lacking.

Don't bring it back. It belongs in the pit it was buried in.

Is this idea cancelled? Since what Farengeto was referring to was electing justices, not the ban of plea bargains.

That's a good point. I believe this has been motioned to vote and seconded?

Also, I still don't get what is the main argument against plea bargains.
