Stoinia is the Capital world of the Stoinian Star Kingdom. It serves as the seat of power of the Kingdom, but still holds economic importance. Although it has a small population in comparison to other major worlds, it hosts its population in its three cities of Sinaia, Trinas and Landing. Boasting incredible wildlife, it also has high minerals deposits which are mined, but not so much as to create an imbalance. History It is the planet where the Terran colonists first landed after their centuries long journey with their sleeper ship Zamolxis. With dozens of smaller towns spread around the three main cities Landing, Trinas and the capital Sinaia. Initially the planet was named Virtue and was lead by the Council of Shareholders, with Alexandru Stoian as its President. The Council was in charge of forming a government and making new institutions for the colonists. Farmers set out to colonize the more rural lands in the Great Trek and supply the cities with food, these farms remain there to this day. As the first planet colonized by the Stoinians, the planet is held in high regard. That's why it's fauna and flora are protected, especially since it is very reminiscing of old Terra's. It is viewed by many Stoinians as a second Terra. Although it has been scarred from the War at Home, it's wounds have been healed. Though only a few ruins remain to commemorate the devastating war. After the War, the planet began a period of reconstruction and further industrialisation and eventually leading the Star Kingdom's core industry. Through the wisdom of the now new King the populace gained prominence in all aspects of civilization. Though it became clear that for the industrial production to continue more minerals were needed and with an exploding population the Stoinians set out to colonize the stars and spread Terran civilization. This process would not be without its dangers as barbaric races sweeped through the Star Kingdom, but even in the darkest of times, Stoinia shined as a bright star to all the terrors. Stoinia had become the beacon of light in the see of darkness and the Stoinians cherish this dearly. In the Velutarian War, when the fall of Stoinia seemed immanent, the Stoinians rallied under Admiral Hague and defended with ferocity like never before. For if Stoinia fell, the Kingdom would be doomed. As time has past, Stoinia has opened up to other star nations and is looking to become a central power and key player in the sector. It is to show what the Terrans are capable of and what their manifest destiny is. To the Star Kingdom Stoinia remains the shining beacon in the sea of stars. Geography Because of the planet's lush natural environment, the Stoinians decided to centralise the Stoinian settlements on one of the smaller continents. Although there are continents on both poles, the colder regions are left to the wilderness and only used for hunting. Because the settlements are settled close to the equator they have a warm climate compared to the rest of the planet. Fauna and Flora The planet holds many different animal species. Most notable are the mammalian Griresh and the Stoinian Lion. King Andrei III is the fifteenth monarch of the Stoian Dynasty. As head of both the military and government, he serves his people with considerate power over them. Although his primary goal is to ensure the protection of Mankind and the Stoinian people. Early Life With his father's , Alexandru III, sudden death while he was but a child, the reign was passed on to General Anson MacArthur who acted as his Regent. As a small child he would be educated by his mother and Stoinia's top scholars. His education was accelerated because of the Velutarian War and his duty to lead his people. Nonetheless he proved an excellent student. He was especially interested in engineering during his schooling. Because as the future leader, he was also trained in the arts of duelling, where he made close friends, Paul Winton of House Winton. Paul and Andrei grew up together for two years on Shikoku where they learned discipline and the Shintoïst values. Of course at the age of 16 he would enrol into the Military Academy, like most teenagers eager to fight the Velutarians horrible march towards the Stoinians. At the Military Academy at East Point he again received an accelerated course where he nearly always was put in charge. Of course he preferred to be amongst his lower ranking men and thoroughly enjoyed his time as Lieutenant and Captain. Not only was land warfare a must, but with recent upgrades with Velutarian technology the Stoinians were starting to have a fighting chance in space warfare. Both of these were necessary to win the war. The Butcher of Velutaria At the age of 17 T-years, he already had his first command, a Light Cruiser named Royal Rascal. He joined Grand Marshal MacArthur's push towards the Velutarian home world where he performed admirably and proved his military skills. Of course the date he turned 18 T-years old the Velutarian government had capitulated. Although the Velutarian populace was still resisting the capitulation, now King, he decided to pursue a more diplomatic approach. But when the populace had started to resort to terrorist attacks against the Stoinians, it was clear that the Velutarians wouldn't comply. High Admiral Chekov advised to bombard the planet once and for all, this way the Velutarians would never recover. King Andrei accepted this offer, though Chekov refused to take any responsibility for it and give this victory to the young King. He then held a televised speech where he was coronated on HMS Infinity and ordered the complete bombardment of Velutaria itself until no living Velutarian would be left in what he called, Holy Fire. This would later become known as the Butcher's Speech. Velutaria would be left in rumble and serve as a mark of the Stoinian Lion's wrath. This action was deemed welcome by all Stoinians who had lost 8.7 trillion of their people to the dreadful Velutarian war. ![[Image: tehoqax.png]](https://i.imgur.com/tehoqax.png) Velutaria, 19 T-years since the Butchering The Mardakii Crusade and the Cheunh Compromise With the Velutarian War over, the Star Kingdom was left devastated. In response to the new demand of raw resources for the rebuilding of the infrastructure, the newly retrofitted Navy set out to expand the Star Kingdom's border southwards. This resulted in campaigns to purge xeno pirates who had claimed Velutarian space in the vacuum of power. Amongst these were the Mardakii, the ancient species that attacked Stoinia. King Andrei immediately assembled a sizeable Task Force to eliminate the Mardakii threat. This newly declared crusade lead him to the Cheunh Ascendancy, a young star nation plagued by the Mardakii incursions. The Stoinians helped Cheunh in distress and this created a dialogue that resulted in a joint operation. With the help of the Cheunh, and especially by Admiral Vrath'olum'nuruodo, the Mardakii central command was located and forced the Mardakii to retreat to their command post at Bogo Rai. With one swift stroke the Mardakii were eliminated and King Andrei himself killed 9 Mardakii, one for each trillion Stoinians that had died. Of course the children of the Mardakii were spared and were put into the Mardakii hunting reserves. Recognising the prowess of the Cheunh, he decided that having them on his side would prove extremely valuable. Of course he was only receptive to the idea, because the Cheunh were very similar to the Terrans. With some speculating that they had been a lost Terran colony. The King offered the vassalization of the Cheunh Ascendancy with special status for the Cheunh. This lead to an internal debate in the Cheunh government which eventually resulted in the acceptance of the King's offer. This was due to the fear that the Cheunh Ascendancy might be attacked by the Stoinians if they didn't comply. The King himself also specified the terms with the Cheunh government as to ensure a smooth transition. Now that the Cheunh have been into his service for over ten years they have became a respected people in the Star Kingdom and are deemed equals to Terrans. Political Views His foremost duty is to protect the Stoinian people. This also includes to protect Mankind wherever they may be in the distant stars. This notion has been instilled in him from birth. Every action he takes as a monarch must reflect that. However when it comes to politicians he can be ruthless, as he is a strong supporter of the anti-corruption institutions. He also has very little patience when it comes to politicians who abuse their power. In such cases he advocates for sever punishment. When it comes to foreign policy, he is the main maker of it. As is the practice in the Star Kingdom. However, unlike most Stoinians, he isn't eager to find new foes in the stars. On the contrary, he wants to ensure secure borders for his nation. This is why he may appear to some as weak when it comes to xenos. This is very apparent with the Cheunh Compromise, where most of Congress would have declared utter subjugation. As when it comes to the Lords, he views that some of the outer sector nobility have lost their way and regard their sectors as their own mini kingdoms. He has been vocal about opponents in Congress like Lord Ethan Thorne, who clearly demands more empowerment. Strategos Douglas William Hague is the head of the Stoinian Armed Forces right under the King himself. He acts as his right hand, running the military of the Stoinian Star Kingdom. This not only consist of parades and military operations, but also mining and construction as the military is run entirely independent from the civilian government. Early Life As a young child he grew up as the son of a Royal Guardsman and a nurse. He grew up in his middle-class family in Sinaia itself. And even learned the aristocratic languages: French and Romanian. This is a common practice in Sinaia as it is the King's city. As the oldest son in his family. he too felt the call to serve his country from an early age. Though he initially wanted to enrol as a Guardsman, he later decided to enrol in the Navy. He attended a military school where he was drilled into the ways of the military. Of course, just after he had began his academy training, the Velutarian War had begun. Luckily his father had fell ill and wasn't posted on the ship that killed King Alexandru III. From there on his duty only grew stronger. East Point After a successful high school career he enrolled into East Point Naval Academy, where all Naval officers start their career. During his time there, the Velutarians pushed further and further into Stoinian space. Though he never doubted his Terran strength and even helped others succeed with their studies. With MacArthur's reign, the military was empowered and MacArthur made sure that his future reforms would have a solid basis. Hague was part of the first military generation trained in extensive logistics. This would later come in handy with MacArthur's reforms. With the Velutarian War taking the lives of 10 billion within its first six months, the Academy proceeded to speed up the learning process and put officers onto the battlefield as fast as possible. Hague finished in 3 years and was given command of the MacArthur, a small cruiser in Admiral Cole's fleet. Velutarian War The War had costed many comrades and under Admiral Cole's guidance, they were forced to retreat from a lot of engagements and leave the nearby planets vulnerable for invasions. Hague didn't agree with it first, but after a hefty discussion with Cole, he came to the same conclusion as him. For now they had to preserve whatever ships they had and give the Velutarians hell on the planets. Of course, some planets were completely wiped out due to plasma bombardment by the Velutarians. Hague vowed to kill every last Velutarian for this. For the next nine years they focused on hit and run tactics against the enemy and Hague rose through the ranks. Eventually becoming one of the youngest High Admirals and taking command of the 5th Star Corps. However the Velutarians had pushed deep into core Stoinian territory near Triton itself. It was here where Hague and his newly adapted starships made their stand against the Velutarians in the battle of the Line. With his new starships he tried a more unorthodox approach, testing his new ships and this proved to be a great succes. These new tactics had struck the Velutarians by complete surprise as they weren't able to adapt. This lead to him gaining the title of Hero of the Line. After that, he continued in the offensive and fought at Velutaria itself. His forces were part of Velutaria's butchering and brought an end to the dreadful war. The First Mardakii Crusade After twenty decades of patrolling and fighting space piracy while expanding the Star Kingdom, Hague had earned himself the rank of Grand Admiral. But when a Mardakii stronghold was found in Cheunh space, the King declared a Crusade against them. Hague gladly answered and was at the front of the campaign. With new support from the Cheunh they made a swift campaign against them, only lasting six months. Hague worked closely with Chekov and Admiral Vrath'olum'nuruodo with whom he both enjoyed friendships. This Crusade marked a new era of Stoinian warfare. One pioneered in part by Hague. During the Crusade he never personally killed any Mardakii like other officers liked to do. For the first time, they actively employed Velutarian tactics of bombardment, all be it with MAC cannons instead of plasma weapons. Shortly after the Mardakii had been dealt with, Strategos MacArthur fell ill and later died. The Council decided that they needed a new leader of a younger generation. One who had grown up with MacArthur's reforms and was willing to set this progress further in stone. This resulted in the Kings approval and achieved the rank of Strategos at a far younger age than MacArthur had. With his new job he excels and is more severe than MacArthur when it comes to gaining raw resources. Regardless of his new job he was able to befriend the King and even learned about the political mechanism which were completely foreign to him since they were absent during MarArthur's War reign. John Phillip Sheridan is the third of eight siblings and currently serves his second term as Chancellor of the Stoinian Star Kingdom. He previously held the positions of Representative, Governor and Legate. Early Life Born in Sinaia itself he was the son of a journalist and a make-up artist. Although they lived in Sinaia they were on the lower end of the middle class, amongst the poorer of the Star Kingdom. However they still were plenty at home and formed a strong family bond. From a young age he was fixing parts of the house with his father and his older brothers. Although he excelled scientifically at school he had difficulties with mathematics and languages. So he took extra courses at school and even learned the aristocratic language of Romanian, the King's language. After his High School he enrolled into Sinaia's Institute of Technology and Sciences as an Ships Engineer student. Engineer Career After a slower program of 6 years instead of 5, he got a job at AriesCorp at Kuatis. He was responsible for the framework design on the gravitational ring on the Alton-class luxury cruiser. With the cruiser line being a succes he made quite a fortune and was even promoted for his dedication and hard work for the project. Military Career Only 5 years into his engineering career the Velutarian War broke out. It hadn't taken long before his oldest brother had died in the initial wave of the Velutarian advance. This prompted him to enlist as a Military Engineer. He had to enrol into East Point, but received a speed course of two years. After his military studies he was put on a team of engineers to improve the Stoinian warships and adapt Velutarian tech in any way shape or form. This proved a very slow process which took over 12 years to even get to a functional prototype. With this new succes he was put in charge of making the new production site on a planet the military had claimed a new mandate on: Ceria. Effectively making him a Legate. This was first against the wishes of his superiors as he had no proper officer training for Legate duties, but the Velutarian War had taken a lot of Terran lives and capable men were getting scarce. So Sheridan convinced them to do his best and if they weren't content with him, he would resign. However not willing to waste resources, his superiors agreed with him and he got the rank of Legate. This method of gaining a Legate title was never preceded before and wouldn't happen again in but very few occasions. During the Velutarian War he lost three brothers and a sister who gave their lives for Mankind. His family was heavily affected by this, especially John himself as he was close with his brothers. Legate of Ceria As the new Legate of Ceria he was not only responsible of the construction plans for the Military, but also the planet itself. He was the Ceria's Military Governor and thus came a lot of responsibilities. He proceeded to expand the construction sites and ensure raw resources, effectively concentrating it all in one place at the equator. With the newly warships with adapted Velutarian tech, Ceria became an important hub for military warships and it thrived at it. However in 1600 PD the Velutarian War had ended and his non-war time Legateship would begin. He wasn't trained for this, but decided to give it a try nonetheless. In the next six years he gave Ceria a space elevator and expanded its mining operations. He made an immigration office to attract new people to the planet and prepared it for civilian take over.

Governor of Ceria At the end of his Legate mandate he decided that we wanted to further develop Ceria as he had grown attached to the place. He ran for Governor and won it with 70,6% of the votes. As Governor he would further expand Ceria City and healthcare institutions, his money came from the immense sum that AriesCorp had given him for exclusive rights on ship construction around the orbital element of the space elevator. He accepted and this was critiqued by some, but it was money within legal bounds and he would spend it wisely. Amongst the populace he became known as the Builder. He also provided subsidies for agriculture as that industry had never really been expanded during his Legate Mandate. However this attracted over 10.000 people to start new farms on Ceria. Amongst them wounded veterans from the Velutarian War and their families. His four year term went smoothly and with excellent approval ratings. However he wanted to go further down the rabbit hole of politics, which he found to quite like. The next terms he ran for Congress and again won to be the single representative of Ceria. Representative of Ceria As the newly elected Representative of Ceria he enjoyed his new job at the People's Assembly. He performed his duties and aligned himself with the Centrist Party. He was always present at votes and even was recommended to be majority leader. He accepted this as this would lay down a good beginning for his next political step. Chancellor With the help of the Centrist Party he was elected by 55,3% of the popular vote. In his campaigning he promised to further strengthen outer colonies and repairs for the damage sustained by the Velutarian War. In his first term he mainly focused on the newThousand Colonies initiative set in motion by his predecessor. This initiative planned to colonise around 2.000 new worlds to solidify the Stoinian Star Kingdom. He made sure to strengthen colonisation procedures with the Military and also expand businesses to the outer colonies. He also gained a second term with 65,8% of the popular vote and focused more on the ship manufacturing corporations to give them more flexibility. This proved successful for the market. Now that the King is looking to expand influence into other Star nations such as the Treecuu, he is looking to expand Stoinian businesses into other star nations as well. Not only should they dominate xenos militarily, but also economically. Political Views Although he was raised in the Capital, he still holds the outer colonies in high regard. This is contrary to most politicians in the core who would rather focus on the core's financial sectors and keep the outer colonies in a lower standard. Sheridan is proof that it can work differently than previously thought. He looks to bring the rich lives from the core to the outer colonies. As such he is a strong supporter of healthcare, but also a strong proponent of economic prosperity. That is why he made the bill which gave pregnant women special status in businesses. As the population needs to recover from the devastating Velutarian War women need to be ensured that they won't lose their job due to pregnancy, while promoting repopulation. That's why no pregnant women can be fired after two years of giving birth, but at the same time businesses pay 40% less taxes for the respective person. He also is a strongman for policies which give engineers more freedom and subsidies. This is due to Velutarian technology that still needs to make its way into the Stoinian market. That way Stoinia will hopefully know a new technologic golden age. Unlike politicians from the outer colonies he isn't for more power to the local Governors and Lords. He has voiced his concerns that this is making Stoinia dysfunctional and is a strong opponent of Lord Ethan Thorne and his Traditional Party for Colonial Empowerment. As for the progressives, he views them too drastic as they wish to ban things like the Great Hunt, which have become synonymous with the word Stoinian. Nor is he a proponent of more democracy or to make a Stoinian Republic. He also gutted Congressional staff members, which he deemed unnecessary as a means to save taxpayer money. He also isn't fond of the press putting themselves where they shouldn't. That's why he keeps his children away from the spotlights. He is a strong supporter of privacy and has expressed concerns of the press misusing the right to journalism to infringe on peoples privacy and in some cases smearing people's reputation for news. As for recent contact with other nations, he is especially interested in making economic ties. As he wants to ensure the Stoinians not only have Military power over them, but also Economical Power. Of course this is very different towards fellow Terran nation, whom he sees as brethren and doesn't want to dominate them in any shape or form. Thosok was the last Aristocra of the late Cheunh Ascendancy. Now he serves as Aristocra of Csillia and the Cheunh Sector in the Stoinian Star Kingdom. Early Life Thosok was born in a family of middle-class Cheunh who had a good living on the planet of Crustai. Although his old uncle was a known and respected politician. His family bond was less than most Cheunh who have the same family bond as Terrans. After coming of age he joined the Military Academy on Crustai and became a naval officer, becoming the Phalanx Commander of Crustai itself. After a successful military career he joined his uncle and became his political apprentice. Political Career in the Cheunh Ascendancy Thosok was a new face in the political landscape of the Cheunh Ascendancy who had kept an isolationist stance on their 14 worlds. He on the Governorship of Crustai with his old uncle's help and began his political career at home. However this wouldn't last as he would later run as Senator for Crustai. In Parliament Thosok together with younger political generation wanted to further expand the Ascendancy. After they gained a majority they proceeded to expand the Ascendancy and later he would become Aristocra, head of state of the Cheunh Ascendancy. However this would prove to be a difficult task as they had encountered a Mardakii conglomeration east of their borders. Mardakii Incursions and the Cheunh Compromise The Mardakii started to invade the Cheunh Ascendancy and take their peoples as slaves and food. Thosok was put under a lot of pressure, but he opted to make his stand and the Cheunh stood their ground valiantly. That was until the Stoinians rescued some of their people and this created a dialogue later known to the Cheunh as Saviour's Hand. The Cheunh agreed to cooperate with the Stoinians on their crusade against the Mardakii. The campaign was a swift one, only lasting four months. With these "saviours" helping out the Cheunh they gained their respect and some even wanted to start an alliance with the Stoinians. However before anything formal could happen the Stoinian King had sent the Cheunh an ultimatum on the 10th of November 1604 PD. Join the Stoinian Star Kingdom willingly or be annexed. Over the next week the Cheunh debated heavily, but King Andrei III was open to talk to them and give them special status as they had proven themselves in combat. The King also thought like many Stoinians that the Cheunh are a lost colony of Terrans. For this reason as head of state of the Cheunh Ascendancy he negotiated personally with King Andrei III. Cheunh technology was to be put on the market solely by Cheunh Corporations over the next 20 years. The Stoinians would also help medical development and ensure they wouldn't be fully annexed. They would keep their title of Aristocra and their current borders with expansion zones would be made into the Cheunh Ascendancy. They would keep their name, but be under the Stoinian banner from now on. Thosok convinced his people that the pros heavily outweighed the cons and thus a referendum was held and the Ascendancy had voted to join the Star Kingdom. Although his initial years as a Stoinian Aristocra would be heavily criticised, the Stoinians held their part of the bargain and proved benevolent overlords. The Cheunh were treated as equals now, though elements from both parties weren't too comfortable with that. Batahn Aristocra of Csillia Though the title was kept, it had a new function. Essentially it had become a royal title now and Thosok was now an Under-King to the Stoinian Monarch. As Batahn Aristocra of Csillia he oversees the integration of the Cheunh Ascendancy into the Stoinian Star Kingdom. This includes all aspects of life: militarily, politically, economically, ... Although he wielded much more executive power now than before. Over the past decade his reign had proven smooth for the Stoinians and the Cheunh as well. Ultimately the Cheunh were beginning to think that the Compromise wasn't the end some proclaim. Political views Thosok now holds the Stoinians in high regard and is looking to improve the unity between them. Such as further integrating Cheunh politics and reusing old Cheunh Royal titles to mimic the Stoinian system. Some might view this as cultural adoption, but he makes sure to make these changes as Cheunh as possible. He opposes irrational cultural take over. The Stoinian Terran ethnicities had kept their cultures and so should the Cheunh. As a former military man he knows the importance of a central command. With the Cheunh ships standardised and structure adapted to Stoinian standards they have nearly completed military integration, though he is vouching to keep the Phalanxes, which are planetary naval defence forces. Born into the Royal family of House Thorne of Tozoria as son of Grand Duke Robert and Grand Duchess Elisabeth Thorne. He now serves as the head of the Tozorian Sector in name of King Andrei III. He also is the head of the Traditional Party for Colonial Empowerment and is a strong support of his cause. Early Life As the heir to Grand Duke Robert, he was instilled with many traditions and responsibilities from an early age. He received the best education Tozoria could offer and later studied social sciences as a means to further help him into his political career which he wanted from an early age. After serving 8 years in the military his father died due to rare health conditions and was given the Grand Duke's mantle in 1582 PD at the age of 31.The young Grand Duke was met with critique and was part in several scandals. But he would wear his military uniform again when the Velutarians had rang the bells of war. Velutarian War Because of Tozoria's location they wore the brunt of the initial Velutarian offensives and suffered heavily from it. Lord Thorne took command of the 7th Star Corps and fought with guerrilla tactics during the war. When word has spread to him that MacArthur and O'Connell were squabbling with one another, he suggested to the Royal Court that he should be put as regent, however MacArthur quickly dismayed it as a mere political manoeuvre to gain more power, which Stoinia didn't need right now. Nonetheless his sector took the brunt of the Velutarians, while he lead his forces. Though some accounts have stated that he was a subpar High Admiral when it came to his confrontational tactics, wasting valuable resources on battles he didn't have a chance. Thorne stated that if Central Command wouldn't protect his sector he would. Well into half of the Veluttarian War he had to evacuate one of his military bases due to being overwhelmed and had left the King's Colours behind. However the young heir to the Duke of Pretoria of House De La Rey, Koos had gathered his Company and went into the Velutarian crossfire to get the Colours back. Koos succeeded and left Thorne disgraced. He was spared for it, because the Stoinians couldn't afford to start killing each other. After 16 dreadful years of fighting, the Tozorian Sector was battered and for this he created his new political party. Traditional Party for Colonial Empowerment Because he felt betrayed during the Velutarian War he proceeded to form a new party. More militant than any party before in Stoinian history. This party was for the right of the outer colonies and grant them more leeway as to govern themselves. He has served as the head of the party from its first days and intends to keep it that way. This party is seen by many outer colonists as their true party as Lord Thorne isn't afraid to oust their problems into Congress and fight for them. Although in the initial years they barely got votes, with their mandates they won they made progress and steadily won more votes. Now they are in a position to gain new voters in the southern belt from Charia to Qingdao. Public Opinion and Scandals In the Core and northern sectors he is seen as a disturber of peace. Nothing more than an old child who hasn't grown up. His words are viewed as toxic, but they have a certain truth to them so he gets the southern voters. His policies are also viewed in the core as just paper stuff with nothing substantial in them to get work done, while the southerners see him as a man of great promise. As a young Grand Duke he was also spotted to bring several young ladies into his palace, though he evaded the press quite well. Rumours from the palace even say he had affairs with kitchen staff, even well into his marriage. Some speculate that he views himself a god above the law because of his family heritage. After the Velutarian War had ended he wore his uniform constantly while getting fatter. It was viewed as disrespectful as almost all officers, even the high ranking ones, do their best to keep in shape and honour the military life. In the Core this is viewed as decadent and dishonourable, while in the south he is viewed as a martyr who proudly holds his military legacy. The fact that Lord Koos De La Rey had taken his Colours instead of him has also diminished some of his military prestige. Metagaming Facts House Thorne has vowed revenge on the monarchy as King Carol the Mad had accused them of attempting a coup. However because of his rash actions against them, he was quickly apprehended by the military. Carol knew of this because his lover was the daughter of the Grand Duke of Tozoria, whom he had an affair with and told him of the Grand Duke's plan. She knew of certain plans the Grand Duke had that would further strengthen their grip on the smaller houses in the Tozorian Sector. Carol interpreted this as a coup and gave the smaller houses in the Tozorian Sector financial support to gain more power and granting some families a higher noble rank. This set back the Thornes and thus Lord Ethan Thorne vowed for revenge against House Stoian for this injustice. Centuries have past and the Thornes have regained their grip they once had over the smaller houses. This was also done through criminal activities and is unbeknownst to anyone, except those involved. Thorne is planning to gain more power until one day challenging the King himself for the Throne as compensation for the crimes the Royal House of Stoian had done to his. Strategos MacArthur who became the hero of the Velutarian War and the Regent of the Stoinian Star Kingdom in it's most desperate hour. He reshaped the nation and its military into their current form. Early Life Born as the son in a farmer family on the farm world of Ossia in the Core, he grew up in a poor but stable family. Amongst his family and friends he was always the most sportive person and was always looking for physical challenges for himself. That's why he was fascinated with the military from an early age when he first got in touch with it at school. Although he was expected to continue the family tradition, he wanted to serve his nation and "to protect this very way of life" as he told his father. The family eventually accepted his wish and he left for East Point Royal Army Academy to become an officer in the Army. Military Career As a freshman at East Point he was thrilled with the military life that had just opened up to him and soon became top of his class. He completed his studies after 5 years and took his first command of a Troop as First Lieutenant. From there on he would be tasked with patrolling different planets and train in all-weather combat. From the beginning of his career, he took a keen interest in the logistics as to ensure his troops could function as long as possible with as little as possible while ensuring optimal performance. Over the next four decades he would rise through the ranks and eventually gain the highest Command, a whole Army Group as a Grand General. Velutarian War and Regency With King Alexandru III's death by the hands of the Velutarians, the nation was left in turmoil. The Royal Court didn't know what to do as there were no suitable candidates for the regency due to old age or illness. However Chancellor O'Connell wanted to strengthen his powers as to ensure a strong leadership during the coming war. However MacArthur wouldn't have it. If the nation would be thrown down in a war, than the military should instead take control. His rhetoric challenged the civilian politicians who didn't have a clue of warfare or how to plan reasonable offensives. MacArthur spoke publicly in Sinaia and gained support of the populace though O'Connell still held the upper hand constitutionally. Nonetheless Lord Thorne of Tozoria also joined the squabbling though he was largely ignored by the Royal Court because of his reputation. After weeks of ineffective civilian command, the Royal Court saw only one solution, name MacArthur as the Regent. MacArthur accepted and addressed the nation shortly after and promised that no Velutarian would survive this war. The Gagarin, Charian and Tozorian Sector had taken the front of the beating and some planets were suffering from glassing: the scorching of a planet with high yield plasma beams. The Navy stood no chance as the Velutarians were too technologically advanced and shattered the Navy's Fleets. So MacArthur proposed to reduce ship personnel and focus on Magnetic Accelerator Cannons (MAC) and mount these on ships. This new technology was promising and when it eventually came into service after four years these cannons only were able to penetrate smaller Velutarian ships. This was possible thanks to a timely scientific breakthrough which was able to create rather inefficient shield generators on certain parts of the planet. These shields were able to withstand glassing attempts and forced the Velutarians to invade the planets. Here the Stoinians proved to have a fighting chance and MacArthur did his best to keep the odds in the best shape. The populace which had been trained in basic military operation, from kids to women, joined the ranks of the Army in Militias. Though there were a lot of efforts made to evacuate the children, it wasn't uncommon to see 16 or 17 year-olds fighting in the Army. As a means to strengthen ground forces, he tasked ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence) with the further creation of super soldiers in the SPARTAN-III Program, lead by Dr. Robert Grant. The initial Spartan-II's were holding off the Velutarians, but their numbers were too small. A more mainstream line of supersoldiers was needed. For this they sought candidates for genetic augmentation, however due to the stigma that came with tampered with genetics, many refused to cooperate. There were however souls eager to fight back the Velutarians at all cost. ONI contracted surviving orphans and genetically augmented them to become super soldiers.. It took six years to complete training and augmentation of the second generations of Spartans. Once they were deployed, the Spartans proved worthy of their name. The ODST Program was also launched as a more broader version of the Spartan Program. This meant that they had acces to better gear which was created in tandem with the Spartan Program. Many of Spartan Technology was first used by ODST's. Orbital Drop Shock Troopers were meant to strengthen planetary forces by dropping with drop pods behind enemy lines and create chaos and diversion. Although he enjoyed the scenery, he was disgusted with certain political manoeuvres which aimed to strengthen corporations and the economical elite. MacArthur therefore disbanded Congress and assumed authoritarian control well within his constitutional rights as Regent. He also employed a new function: the Legates. These acted as Military Governors in absence of their civilian counterpart and acted in MacArthur's name. This was met with criticism, but the populace embraced this as they had found the politicians didn't understand what this war was costing them. In the first year alone 800 billion Stoinians had died. Because of the scarcity of resources with the War, he also changed from where the Military gained their resources. Rather than buy them from corporations and be influenced by the market, he opted to gain them independently. Military men became miners and engineers. This rewrote the logistics of the Military and uncolonized planets were now claimed by the military to gain resources and optimize ship production. After twelve years of slowing down the Velutarian advance, they had managed to set foot in the Core itself. If they didn't stop the Velutarians at Triton than Stoinia surely would fall. High Admiral Hague was put in charge of this battle with his newly retrofitted ships. This proved to be the turning point of the War and the Stoinians finally started to push back the Velutarians in their new operation: Lion's Wrath. After three years the Star Kingdom was free of Velutarians, but MacArthur had made a promise. One he intended to keep. It was only a matter of time before the young King would take the mantle and MacArthur pushed towards the Velutarian homeworld. Killing any Velutarians they met on their way. Eventually he secured Velutaria with extensive use of Spartans and ODST's and the Velutarian government capitulated. However as the mantle had now fallen upon the young King and the Velutarian populace resorting to terrorist attack, the King made his first official act. The Butchering of Velutaria. A fitting end after sixteen years of war and at a cost of 8.7 trillion Stoinians. Because MacArthur had changed the nation around, the young King wanted to preserve some of his work and put it in the constitution. These reforms became known as the MacArthur Reforms. MacArthur was also granted the title of Duke of Ossia for his actions, replacing the previous dynasty which had perished in the War. The MacArthur Reforms: Reshaping of the Nation The Reforms were clear. The Military had to become independent from incompetent civilian command. Men as O'Connell weren't fit to lead an army when it needed it most. Instead the Military should run separately as they know best. However to keep the Military in check it would have it's own extensive judicial system and protocol codes. One example is that Spartan Armour self-destructs within a 10 km range from any Royal or Congressional building. The Military would also claim any colonised planet for the first ten years as to ensure a rigid defence system. This would be the new task of MacArthur's Legates. The Military had been empowered, but with fail safes in place. The monarch would also be the leader of the Military and serve as a bridge between the civilian government and the Military. The role of Strategos was also create. It served as the Supreme Commander of the Stoinian Armed Forces in tandem with the King as to ensure none of them would abuse their power. These reforms reshaped Stoinian society and maintains the new order of things to this day. Strategos MacArthur, the First Mardakii Crusade and retirement As the first Strategos he focused on training the new generations in logistics and operating operations which gained raw resources for the military. Although the media wanted to interact more with, he mostly rejected any interviews as he saw them as a waste of time. His logistical work had just begun after all. The expansion was a necessary step for Stoinia to gain new resources. Thus he sent Expeditionary Fleets to the west which eventually lead to the First Mardakii Crusade and the Cheunh Compromise. MacArthur however didn't participate in any of these operations, letting the young King experience his new command. Death In 1606 PD, two years after the Cheunh Compromise, he stepped down as Strategos and retired to Ossia due to his deteriorating health. Three weeks after his birthday, he died on his death bed amongst his family in 1609 PD. When the news spread three rounds of gunshots could be heard on every planet for the next week. It was a sign of respect for Stoinia's hero. Legacy Because of his actions which are viewed by many to have saved the nation, he is often found to be the Second Father of the Nation. Not only did he save it from ruin, but he also reshaped it so that it wouldn't crumble again. Numerous monuments are named after him and no Stoinian doesn't know his name. A Military Medal was also named after him. After his death however, the origins of the SPARTAN Program were revealed to the public and many critics jumped on the opportunity. However the Spartans themselves did several interviews, saying they volunteered for it. Nonetheless it created a scandal and questioned genetic enhancement and the ethics of the military, which continues to this day in Congress. These same people try to frame MacArthur as a military demagogue, though few share the same point of view. High Admiral Prescott Cole is a hero from the Velutarian War and was responsible for many new tactics the Stoinians used against the Velutarians. He also created the Cole Protocol, which ensured that the location of Stoinia and their technology wouldn't get in enemy hands. Early Life Prescott Cole was born as the youngest of 10 in a mixed family on Corillia. Regardless these mixed marriages were common on city planets, especially on Corillia. His family was of middle class and gained a lot of respect for their hard work. When it was time for him to go to college like all his siblings before him, he wasn't sure where to go to. But when he visited a recruitment office, he was convinced to join the military. And went for East Point. Military Career Because he hadn't been in a perfect condition initial training was hard, but eventually he persevered. He became a ship pilot and after 3 years he got his post, HMS Concord. After serving 10 years, he was recommended for officer training at East Point which he accepted. After two years of officer training he received his first command, HMS Kimono. The next two decades he would rise through the ranks and gain the respectable rank of Commodore. He gained a lot of experience commanding junior officers which would prove helpful in the Velutarian War. Velutarian War Because of the initial civilian command over the military which proved ineffective, nearly all of his superiors died. This meant that he soon received on of the highest promotion jumps in Stoinian history, from Commodore to Admiral. However because of his unorthodox tactics, MacArthur had made him High Admiral in a short amount of time. It was here Cole excelled at making new tactics for the Stoinians. In cooperation with his colleagues he made the Cole Protocol to slow down the Velutarian advances. He was a key figure in this process, for which he received many medals. During his command of the 20th Star Corps he worked closely with Douglas Hague who had become a sort of military son to him. He later even thanked him personally for his successful defence of his home world, Corillia. Once Hague had made his stand at the Line, Cole joined the offensive and focused on the western part of the Star Kingdom, while MacArthur headed south towards the Velutarian home world. It is in these parts Cole is viewed as a great hero and statues of him aren't uncommon. For his actions he was given royal titles, but he refused as he saw such a thing as glory seeking. Resignation After two years of instructing the last of his junior officers, he announced his resignation at East Point during a speech towards cadets. He resigned as he had felt he had done his part for his nation and now wanted to rest the remainder of his life and remain close to his family. When the King heard of it, he was saddened, but still wanted to give Cole a final gift. This gift was a ranch on a rural world in the parts he helped liberate: Côte d'Est. Originally from Terra, Alexndru had a dream to spread humanity out to the stars and ensure that its cultures would endure the tests of time. For this reason he made a fortune out of his engineering company and came into contact with essential people to realise his dream: an independent human colony. He would go down in history as Alexandru I, first King of Stoinia. Early Life Born to a middle class Romanian family, he lead a comfortable life. Growing up he took a keen interest in engineering and would later become one in ship manufacturing. Eventually because of the succeds his company he could realise his dream. He sent out recruitment posters around the whole world for traditional people looking to preserve their way of life. Eventually he didn't get quite enough for his initial plans and started to recruit families from lower income class as well. This lead him to around a total of 100.000 colonists. With help of these new colonists they put all the money they had to create their sleeper colony ship the Zamolxis. Of course they would also need a destination. For this they choose to go beyond Earth's influence and would need to scan for nearby habitable planets. This all under the supervision of routine check ups, it is worth noting that during one of these check ups an error occurred, but was later corrected. Of course he would also maintain his promise to maintain the traditional ways of life in small towns and villages. These would slowly pop up around the cities when their foundation was laid down. Slowly but steadily the colony was becoming self sufficient. A police force was instituted to maintain order. At the very top was an oligarchic council of the major shareholders, lead by Alexandru. Companies arose and made the fundaments of the Stoinian Economy, with the Virtue Dollar as its currency. The War at Home After a decade of prosperity, the colonists would be faced with a terrible test. The Mardakii, a nomadic gorilla like mammalian alien who invaded Virtue. Although their numbers were into the few thousands, the technological discrepancy proved too much for the Stoinians. For this reason they retreated into the rural towns. Amongst the traditionalists were swordsmiths who taught the refugees to make weapons and train them in fighting. Alexandru himself would also participate in this as he felt the invasion was partly his responsibility. The Chief Police Officer Kurt Flannigan acted as the head of the Virtue Armed Resistance, the resistance Alexandru would join and eventually become a high ranking officer. As the Mardakii had taken control of the major industries, the colonists had to turn to traditional methods. Sword fighting was the only option they had. The Japanese were largely responsible in training the majority of the new soldiers as their methods were the most effective. Although they had brought horses with them to Virtue, there weren't enough for everyone so a cavalry was installed to support the troops. By fortune or luck, the Mardakii had preferred to fight in melee combat. Some speculate it was out of respect or that this was a way of toying with their prey. The combat was also held in the three main cities: Sinaia, New Brussels and Salisbury. It would take two years to fully reclaim the planet and eliminated Mardakii central command. The Mardakii had turned from the hunters into the hunted. The colonists now eager for revenge hunted down the remaining Mardakii and would later put them into the Mardakii Hunting Reservation where the Great Hunt would be held. The War was also a very costly on 36.000 colonists had died and scars were left on the planet. Most importantly it left the colonists forever scarred. The xenophobia would rise to unprecedented levels and human supremacy would reach a peak. Society would also strengthen the importance of children as to ensure their survival. Nonetheless the War had made Alexandru into a hero. He personally lead the cavalry charge on Sinaia and slayed down the Colossus, a giant Mardakii presumed to be the leader of the Mardakii. Alexandru killed him on the place where King's Square would later be put. Because of the rise of human supremacy, they treated the Mardakii as animals and used their bones and pelts to make clothing and weaponry. These have now become important symbols for the Stoinians and form a core part of their identity. These items would only been further accessible through the Great Hunt or Mardakii Crusades. It serves as a constant memory to the crimes the Mardakii had done to captured colonists: molestation, torture, disfigurement and even eaten. He wanted to reform society into a monarchy, lead by Alexandru who has proven himself through spirit and combat to be a worthy leader. The people voted yes and thus the Kingdom was born. When Alexandru first heard of this, he held a speech. This speech would later solidify Stoinian identity and became known as the Lion's Speech. It cemented the colonists their Terran identity and renamed them into Stoinians and gave them their motto: May they be worthy of the name. Later the planet was renamed to Stoinia, after the Stoinian Lions which inhabited it, and Alexandru made its first King. The Lion's Speech:
"Brothers and sister. I have just seen the results of the referendum. There are no words for the humility I feel. Never have I thought to be a ruler over people. Especially one showing such striking qualities as this one. These Mardakii have scarred not only us, but our planet as well. Let it be known from now on that this planet belongs to its people, who fought as valiantly as the Stoinian Lions of this planet. From this moment on, this planet belongs to us. Stoinians, daughters and sons of Terra herself. Let us never forget where we came from, but also what forged us into what made us here today. I accept the duty you have given me and I will be your King. But let there be not a single doubt, that I will only act in the betterment of the Stoinian people and ensure Mankind's survival in the stars. March on Stoinians, we have a Kingdom to build and may thee be worthy of the name!"
Reign
In the later years of his life he struggled with his health. Eventually he would succumb to a fever. His corpse was paraded around Sinaia and thousands mourned his death. He also received full military honours from the newly formed Stoinian Army and served as a role model for the future Stoinian Kings.As the first monarch he was largely responsible for rebuilding and industrialisation efforts, here his former engineer skills further came to use. He also installed a new law where citizens would have to pay less taxes or receive support if they had more children. This set a trend of having multiple children in motion. Of course this also meant to have the necessary infrastructure for the coming populace. This was taken care of through extensive planning of cities, each with their own architectural styles. He was also a man of the people and would often be seen on the markets. In cities and rural towns. He also sent his first son, Andrei, to live amongst the Shintoïsts for a year as to a competent military strategist later on. He would also be a staunch supporter of religious reforms joining the Stoinian Orthodox Church, while maintaining good relations with all the other religions. Never discriminating against them and showing tolerance and respect. Death Legacy After his death he became a role model for future Kings and would earn a special spot in the hearts of the Stoinians. He would also received the nickname of Father of the Stoinia because of his massive contributions to forming the nation. King Andrei I was the second King of Stoinia and the first King born on Stoinia itself. He may not have been the greatest war hero, but he certainly was crucial to Stoinian doctrine, both religious and societal. Because of his well thought doctrines, he gained the nickname Philosopher King. Early Life As heir to the new Stoinian Throne, Andrei received the best education Stoinia could offer. While at the age of 16 most of the Stoinian expected him to go to a newly build military college, he was instead sent to live amongst the Shintoïst enclave in a rural area of Stoinia. Here Andrei learned of their discipline to perfection and certainly had an impact on him. He joined in many of the local conversations there and got a good insight of their meaning. Regardless of religions, he was also trained in sword fighting. The Stoinians hadn't forgotten its importance during the War at Home. After his two year stay at the Shintoïst enclave, he enrolled into the Royal Military Academy near Sinaia, where he excelled due to his Shintoïst training. He made the basic rules of sword fighting training for the army, his techniques used to this day. However rather than serving his time as Crown Prince in the army, he opted to visit his Kingdom and learn more about the planet. He also invested a lot of time in philosophies from different groups as a means to create an overarching Stoinian philosophy, eventually gaining him his nickname. Reign When his father died, he gained the Throne at the age of 38. It hadn't taken a long time until his views would come into play. He gathered the heads of each Church or a strong representative of them, to further detail his overarching philosophy. Of course when he asked the Shintoïst to bring their representative, they told him they had granted him the title of ikigami, the living Stoinian Spirit. And as such became their head of church. Mankind had become central in this too and all religions accepted the importance in Mankind's survival. Tolerance and respect amongst each other were of importance now too, as they couldn't afford internal skirmishers with xeno threats looming around. Because of their isolation from Terra, new heads were appointed to each church where this applied. As a result the Catholic Bishop became the new Stoinian Pope and the Orthodox instated the Patriarch of Sinaia. Although his first act was a religious was, it wouldn't be his last. He would form together with the high ranking officers the Book of Stoinian Warfare. This book contained the military protocols for how to act in nearly every situation. Teaching the Stoinians how to deal with different xeno soldiers to maintaining a good mental health. The Army wasn't becoming just an instrument, but an institution with its own philosophy. Regardless of ethnicity or religions, they were all sons and daughters from Terra. And as such they will stand united in war and in peace. Squabbling between ethnicities became at an all time low, though of course it lived on in jokes and comedy. Now though, no one would be offended by it as it was clear now that it was all in good spirits. Because of the different traditionalists that lived he also discussed with his heir, Iulian, to ensure that each way of life would be preserved. As this was the promise his father had given to the people. He also set in stone that monarchs could only marry commoners. With different noble houses, he was afraid that intermingling between them would lead to the downfall of Stoinia. Thus his wish became law. He would later also send his sons to live amongst the Shintoïsts as well, setting a tradition in motion which would go for every Stoinian monarch. King Andrei had also realised the importance of a healthy and strong populace. That is why every school has a compulsory 8 hour sport program where gradually, students learned to shoot with guns and learn of the military life. This was created together with his son, who had become a proficient career military officer. Also duty, respect and honour were instilled in these lessons to create a populace who understood the military well. This became a mile stone in Stoinian history as it ensured a populace ready for a fight. He also further industrialised the cities to begin the foundations for ship construction. He knew he wouldn't live to see it, but he dreamed to realise the philosophy that had brought them here. Spreading Mankind to the stars was a must to ensure its survival and Andrei would lay the first brick. Death King Andrei I died in his sleep due to unknown causes. Regardless of this he was held in high regards by his people for his type of rule and respected him. He made the crucial parts of Stoinian philosophy, which would become an essential part to their identity.
