[IC] Eggrarian Tensions
#1

Intranationalə - 3rd District - 14 Jan 2020
[Image: boston-ma-1200.jpg]
Thousands crowd the streets of the city. The Presiding Minister currently is taking her time to prepare for a speech for the people regarding her plans to keep the international body intertwined with the affairs of Eggraria, hoping for a new future. However, among that crowd stands hundreds of other national leaders. In three days’ time, the Presiding Minister will give a speech to the larger international body.

Hundreds would begin to cheer as the Presiding Minister began to ride down the street, preparing to give an important announcement to the people. Almost ceremoniously, she steps down and gives the people the Ceremonious Salute, a hand fully raised within the air. Nearly everyone returned the salute.

While her public showing was solely to enter the office of the Committee of International a Relationship to meet with Octavian Smith, she had a special charm among her citizens. Entering the building, she began to enter into the proper office. Once both of them were in place, they prepared an electronically mailed notice to all nations that would be so kind to reply to:

Eggrarian Committee on International Relations

To whoever it may concern,

Hello, nations of the world! We are highly honored to have recently been added to the list of observers within the World Forum. We wish to host a speech followed a Summit on Eggrarian Integration within our great, multicultural city of Intranationalə. It would be of Eggraria’s highest honor to invite the nations of the world to send delegates to the nation of Eggraria to discuss the matters of our integration into the larger international community. Having been isolated from embassy for our national lifetime, we wish to make our integration our primary discussion, but would like the concerns or wishes of other nations to be addressed as well. Your delegates will be treated with the greatest welcoming and the comforts of our nation, we may assure you. Improving our relations with our neighbors is our primary wish.

Best Regards,
Aria Promethə
Octavian Smith

It took the two a while, but they had suspected something was wrong. Likewise, Octavian phoned in the district electronic line.

“Aye, this is Octavian Smith, Third District. A letter was sent to the world leaders’ list we obtained from the World Forum, how come it hasn’t gotten any replies yet?”

Soon after, Octavian got a reply. “It’s not sending,” the man on the phone said. “The Fourteenth blocked it up.”

“Damnit,” Octavian snarled under his breath. He hung up and turned to Aria. “The Fourteenth blocked our lines.”

Aria responded. “What do you mean? They can’t do that; the Ministry has control of the lines-“

“Look at the news.” Octavian and Aria looked to the TV.

FOURTEENTH DISTRICT REBELS, PROTEST TAKING THE TECHNOLOGICAL PENINSULA

On the screen shows police forces of the province fighting back alongside protestors against the voluntary national militia. Hundreds gather in the streets and barricade the borders of the province. An image of the representative of the Fourteenth is shown, while the news anchors would debate about the situation and their reasoning.

“I need to get back to the Capital”, Aria said, still somewhat shocked by the events going on.

“Let me go with you,” Octavian spoke up.

Hundreds stand outside of the Committee building, demanding answers while the scarce governmental guards hold them back. It’s become increasingly harder to get to the Capital with all of these people outside. Even within the building, citizen workers are confused and scared of what may happen, considering their office had shut down due to the outage.

“Phone the energy office of the Third District,” Octavian said. “We need to establish an emergency internet line within the district.”

Octavian would continue to lead his own office in a small panic, trying his best to keep the order within the district enough for him and Aria to get to the Capital. An emergency meeting of the Eggrarian Representatives became even more necessary.

EGGRARIA IN PANIC

Hundreds have taken to the streets for answers. Currently, the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th, and 13th districts are at a complete halt trying to subdue the constant movement of people and trying to hold order while representatives wade through the citizens to the Capital. The 14th district border is being fought off continuously, hoping to keep Eggraria far from other nations. Supposedly, Eggrarian districts have begun creating emergency internet lines throughout the government buildings in order to establish necessary connections.

Octavian and Aria hurried toward the back of the building, looking to leave through the emergency exit in order to avoid the large crowd. The emergency exit directly leads to a covered route out of the building to various transportation areas, most notably, the bay. However, since the two didn’t need to be going through a coastal area, they opted in for a shuttle.

On their way out, on an elevated surface, the two caught sight of the crowd in front of them:

“My lord,” Aria exclaimed, “how could there be so many?”

“Sometimes people just look to government in moments of crisis,” Octavian reassured. “You’re new to this, aren’t you?”

“I was only ever elected recently. I may be Presiding Minister, but that doesn’t mean I’ve gone through governmental crises.”

“First rule of solving a crisis: don’t wait. Let’s hope that other nations are waiting for your addressing of the situation.”

16 January 2020
Ovlandə Fōrtetscentae Agentum
The day's young. I was sitting in my office, watching the chaos unfold on the news. Any moment now, the government would have to come to me to solve their little conundrum within the Fourteenth. After all, someone's gotta solve this. The people are going crazy without their internet.

Let me explain this to you in simpler terms. I'm writing this out to you on a special line that the Intelligence Office made themselves. That's how I'm getting this out. It's also why I'm going to be the primary proponent of talks once this mess begins to clear up.

I'm Erikə Malak. Eggrarian native, Head of Special Operations within the Eggrarian Intelligence Office, a specialized office made independent from the government. Due to certain policies about corruption and whatnot, the legislators decided it would be best if some of the bureaucratic functions were made in separate entities, entirely unbound by the Eggrarian government, but still susceptible to punishment if anything were found out. As a SpecOps head, I've had to go on several missions myself, and I've had to do a lot more than just simple actions for the government. Sometimes I'd be commissioned to plan full insurrection busts on my own. I'd show you my face, but I'm afraid for the time being it'd be safer if I didn't.

Likewise, just as I expected, Smith came running into the doors of my office.

"Need something, Smith?" I asked, hoping to get this show on the road.

"Y-Yes," he stammered, "I'm sure you've heard about it-"

"I've heard all about it, Mr. Smith. You probably want me to solve this whole situation, huh?"

"Well, not quite. We've a plan to gather intel to understand how the insurrection has begun its process. So far, we've only gotten a response from Sedunn, with other nations lacking any sort of response-"

I couldn't help but laugh. "You mean to tell me you think the solution of solving an isolationist insurrection to keep us away from the other nations by calling on other nations is going to help us?"

"Well, I mean-"

"Tell you what. Sedunn's offer was to hold peace talks, right? As mediators? Keep that in your back pocket for now. However, the fight's going to have to be won within our own borders. It's a really tricky situation to ask other nations to come spy on our civilians for us, and you're not doing our reputation any favours."

Smith quietly agreed.

"Let's get to work then. If I remember from the transcripts, there's an opening on the northern shore, huh?"

He nodded.

"Let's grab the stealth boat. I'll come on in wearing the emblems of nomadic peoples and get close with their leader and find out who they are."

"Let's hope this works," he sighed. I walked him out of my office as we headed closer into the bigger actions of the situation.

Erikə found herself on the shores of the Fourteenth's Technological Peninsula. She had a justifiable permit to be there, due to the Fourteenth breaking the General Charter, but of course, they wouldn't listen
The purpose of her being there was to settle the issues and figure out exactly what was going on.

She stepped off of the cargo ship that she was given access to. Of course, she didn't go alone; thanks to the Intelligence Office having several agents with ties to the shipping agencies, she was able to arrive with plenty of undercover security agents. The land was a mess; the dock hardly functioned as a dock, clearly intended to barricade. In front of her was several police officers stationed in the Fourteenth. However, they turned around to find her, and they pointed their standard issue rifles at her.

"Stop right there! This cargo ship was not an authorized entry!"

Erikə put her hands up. "I'm here to give you a message from another nation. I'm on your side." She stood there calmly, despite the cold from the ocean giving her chills.

The guards looked at each other for a second. "What nation?"

Erikə came up with something off of the top of her head. "Valkryia. They sympathize with your case."

The two guards ushered her to move forward. She would be escorted to an overtaken government facility, only a block away from the source of the nation's internet lines. If she had a shot to get to them, it would be then.

The remainder of Erikə's team remained on the ship, prepared to help her back to safety if needed.

She found herself walking into a circular council building, full of various delegates and other important people, including some company representatives. And at the top of it all, the representative from the Fourteenth, leading the cause.

"Mr. President," one of the guards said, "the Head of Intelligence has sympathized with our side. We present to you a representative from Valkyria."

"It's now or never," Erikə whispered under her breath.

The council began to settle down as Erikə took a seat. She started a concealed audio recorder to record the council's meetings in order to return to Eggraria with information regarding the issue.

"Thank you, most honourable delegates who have come to discuss. We have two primary foreign interests now: Teokratika and Valkyria. It is an honest pleasure to have your support," the Representative began.

One of the other councilmen spoke up. "It's of our honest belief that if we are to stop the vile plague that is the intervention of other nations into our lives it needs to be done with the support of sympathizers! If we do not seek out your utmost military assistance, we are to be eventually arrested and executed."

Erikə naturally had to speak up. "If I may ask, is it not illegal to execute public officials? At least, in my understanding of Eggrarian law."

"Do not think those vile Eggrarians are being true followers of their own laws. They have loopholes," the Representative said. Erikə knew this to be a complete lie. At worst, the Representative would be exiled and barred from running for public office ever again. "and they're not afraid to use them."

"There exists one concern of ours, Representative," the Teokratikan representative spoke up. "We are not formalized under a nation yet. We wish to be, so that the Eggrarian scum may understand us to be a threat."

"Not yet, my dear ally," the Representative lauded. "your nation will exist shortly, but it must be done under specific circumstances. Once the revolution is complete, your annexation of us will have to prove that my own work alongside this council gets rewarded."

"If you may, I must truncate my being here," Erikə sharply and quickly asked, turning off the concealed recorder. "I must attend to a business within my own nation-"

"Are you not from Eggraria?" the Representative spoke up. "I've worked with you."
