Check. Adjust. Onwards- Omega for MoFA

Howdy! For those of you I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting, I am Omega, your current Minister of Foreign Affairs here in TSP. For those of you do know me, thank you so much for your support over the last four months. I know we accomplished a lot this last term, but I know there is still a lot of work to do. Furthermore, I feel like the Ministry is currently in a state of transition and it would be irresponsible for me to leave it in its current state.

My campaign this cycle will have three themes: Check, Adjust and Onwards

Check
This last term two things have been great, and I think it is worth celebrating both of those. First, is the completion of our diplomatic alignment with the Defender sphere. While the Assembly Resolution adopting our alignment was passed in July of last year, not a lot changed initially. I am proud to say that in this last term, we became full allies with 10000 Islands, perhaps the most prominent Defender UCR. This alliance has strengthened our Defender bona fides and, as our festival with them demonstrated, strengthened our cultural ties to the defender sphere. That is why I am so proud of the passage of the Southern Islander Treaty and I look forward to our continued work with our fellow Defenders.

Second, we received a lot of positive feedback on the way our Ambassadors worked to have genuine interactions with the members of the regions they were assigned to. This has only strengthened cultural ties with those regions even when we may not be having festivals with them. I know that attending UCR-Con and the Europia Yule Ball was not only fun but also allowed me to engage with counterparts I may not have otherwise seen. Ambassador Qaz has also become a favorite of the Lazarene people in how pleasant and kind he is to them. I hope these positive experiences will aid in the recruitment of new ambassadors and help us to strengthen our cultural ties.

Adjust
There is one glaring thing I know I need to change in the Ministry. My system of having very few ambassadors is not sustainable. It is simply too great a burden t put on those ambassadors and so I have decided I need to adjust (see what I did there) the staff structure within the Ministry. Here is what I expect the new staff to look like along with the roles I intend for them to have:

Minister: I will continue to be the public face of the region by attending events as is recommended to me and issuing statements on major foreign events. I will also represent TSP in all negotiations. Finally, I will be sure to be a reliable point of contact for any foreign government, ally or otherwise.

Advisory Council: this group will include the Cabinet and Cabinet Advisors along with any other people I wish to have aid in shaping our foreign policy. These people are designed to be the sounding board for me and to keep me accountable.

Secretaries of State: These staff members will oversee a group of ambassadors to a group of regions. They will also attend events in those regions and help me to keep track of what is going on in those areas of the game. They will also alert me to any developing or major events in the regions they oversee. I plan on having four Secretaries of State with two overseeing GCR portfolios and two overseeing UCR portfolios.

Ambassadors: Each Ambassador will be assigned to one (maybe two) region(s) and will be the boots on the ground for the Ministry. They will be expected to relay news about TSP to their region(s), attend festivals and events in their region(s) and keep their Secretary of State updated about developments within their region(s).
It is my goal that be employing this structure not only can we cultivate a top-notch diplomatic staff, we will also have an easy time staying up to date on what is going on and how best to approach foreign regions.

The other, minor thing, is that I have changed my belief in joint festivals and do plan to utilize them in the next term.

Onwards
Moving forward I know one thing to be true: we are already a great region; we just need to show it off. I hope that in doing so, TSP can become a city on the hill for other regions to aspire to. We can build a strong culture among the Feeders, GCRS, and Defenders and become great in the eyes of all. I know that my experience from the last term will allow me to, as my band directors always said, check and adjust. Then, I know I can take us onwards toward a bright future.

REQUIRED COI DISCLOSURE:
I am only involved in TSP except for my involvement as a writer for NationStates Today.
In the past, I was a senior government official in Lazarus and a minor FA official in Osiris.
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

I think the fact that no one is asking questions states a lot about the fact that you’re great at what you’re doing and people want you to continue doing it. Also, Recognizing that there is an issue and making adjustments to fix it for this term is fantastic. High praise and full support.
