Huge defeat for the Red-Blacks, won't be part of the semi-final
Yesterday the Ligua do Pespila Anserisana started its first match of the playoffs, with the 4 best teams of each division competing for the championship.
Within the East division, both Concordia and Brantavilla, the two best teams of the division made it to the semi-final with only one goal each against their opponents. Brantavilla still have a shot at winning the championship again this year, after a huge victory last year.
Withing the West division, things didn't look so good for the best team this year, the Chevrona Red Blacks, which lost their game 1-0 against Alisa Sporting Club. Alisa was not even sure of making the series, for a loss at their last game would've put them out of the playoffs. As for Vexilla, it was a huge one-sided game with a 5-0 victory over FC Vergobreta, which never stood a chance to win this match.
The semi-final is played tonight with a day-break tomorrow before the final on 30 June.

Alisa Sporting Club wins the championship over reigning champions Brantavilla FC
The Brantavilla FC was going to the final as the favourites, being last year's champions, they faced a team that was only one defeat away from not making the playoffs, the Alisa Sporting Club.
In what was a total surprise, Alisa Sporting Club defeated each of their opponents, especially the Chevrona Red-Blacks, the best team of the league during the last season, and made their way to the final.
Thousands were gathered in the Constantina-Cornélium Stadium in Concordia which had been chose for the final last year. Many more followed on screens especially in front of the giant screen installed in Republic Park in downtown Brantavilla.
While the first half of the game saw some action from both sides, Brantavilla had the best chance of scoring with a fantastic play which went just a few centimeters away from going in. Later a good save from Alisa's goaltender, Placido Pillum maintained the score 0-0 heading into the second half.
The second half saw the only goal of the game scored by Christiana Clémençum following a pass by captain Léonido Ouéldium. The crowd went silent, for not many Alisa fans had bought tickets but in many bars in downtown Alisa, cheers were heard. The goal was scored at the 79 minute, leaving little time for Brantavilla to make for their 1-0 deficit.
The team fought hard and started making mistakes with one brilliant save made by goaltender, Donatiano Daladium which kept the score from going to 2-0 in favour of Alisa. The game ended with a 1-0 victory by the Alisa Sporting Club, new champions of the LPA.

Virginia Vogélium elected as World Forum Speaker
The choice was not easy with only two candidacies, Anserisa and the Frost Empire. What could've been a new battlefront on the Anserisa-Frost relations related to the blockade remained very civil, in the spirit of the World Forum. In what was a tight race, member nations of the World Forum opted to elect Anserisan's representative, Virginia Vogélium, for the position of Speaker of the Assembly. She becomes the 5th speaker and the first from the Rainbow Islands.

I strongly believe in diplomacy, that's why I am here in this Assembly and I know we may have our differences, especially on the sensible matter of the blockade, but that should never mean that we can't work closely together. I hope they accept the nomination and that we can start to work together.

Prior to being Anserisan's representative to the World Forum, Vogélium was Commissioner of Energy and Commissioner of Justice during the Septimum administration before resigning on 29th February to become appointed as World Forum Representative.
She also founded the Anserisan Accessible Justice Group in 2005, and was a public defendant in Geneva from 2003 until 2008 and worked at her own law firm from 2008 until 2014.

False start for the Red Force in the 2020 FWC
The Anserisan National Team is participating for the first time in the tournament, after failing to reunite a team deemed worthy to participate in the prestigious tournament before, some might say that the team is still not prepared to face off agains't the world's greatest football teams.
Football is still a "new" thing in Anserisa, it is gaining in popularity but still remains a somehow marginal sport in the nation. Our domestic league is only starting to gain traction with only a handful of international players like Mauquibian veteran José André, player of the Brantavilla FC. Thus, our team composed mostly of Anserisan players is still not used to playing high quality football.
That being said, a 1-0 loss is not the worst result for a first-timer nation like Anserisa, there are still a few more games to be played and everyone hopes that our players will be able to at least get one win in this year's tournament.
President Columbo Septimum is expected to travel to GI-Land for the next game, he will be travelling with Commissioner Paulina Moussum, Commissioner of External Affairs and the South Pacific and with Virginia Vogélium, Anserisan delegate to the World Forum and actual speaker of the World Forum.

GI-Land and Anserisa leaders meet before important match
The Anserisan delagation1 met with their counterparts from GI-Land2, in Fabris earlier this morning, just before the important match between Anserisa and the Frost Empire. At the end of the first meeting, President Septimum reaffirmed the relationship between Anserisa and GI-Land and how nations like Anserisa and many others rely on strong economies and stable nations like GI-Land.
Further talks concerning the World Forum happened later with only the ambassadors and the heads of state. Talks included discussions on the situation in Landland, especially on a multilateral strategy to be put forward in the World Forum.
A photo-op and small meeting was also organized between outgoing Speaker of the World Forum, Christian Strunk and actual Speaker Virginia Vogélium. Sources say a small meeting concerning international security policies happened shortly after, but it has not been confirmed.
The Anserisan delegation also tried to bring forward their agenda to remove the blockade of their EEZ by the Frost Empire, coincidentally, opponents in the following event, with the hope to try to secure more support to their cause.
The joint talks ended just before lunch with the two delegations going to watch the match together.
The match turned out to be tense with the real-life tensions between Anserisa and the Frost Empire. You could sense the tension among the security personnel on site watching over the closely seated fans of both teams. No major incidents have been reported from the game.
The same cannot be said for the game which saw a strong domination from the Frost Empire and a really undisciplined Anserisan side which brought the game to a 4-1 victory from the Frost Empire with the only goal for the Red Force being scored by Ferrutio Tallérium.
The Anserisans are still not out of the tournament yet. If they crush Transsuneria, they might have a chance to make into the next round.
As long as the Frost Empire loses, Anserisans will be happy.

Final day of the regular season of the A50L
Today marks the last match day of the regular season of the Anserisan 50 League, the domestic List-A cricket league in Anserisa. With many teams neck to neck, everything can change and all will be decided today. 3 teams are tied for the first place and two teams by winning can eliminate the other from the playoffs.
Libério v. Chevrona
Libério is the strong favourites here. Even with a win, Chevrona are already eliminated from the game with only 2 wins in 9 games. The Libério Cricket Club won the Championship last year and are expected to do good this year. Tied with two other teams for the first place in the standings, it will be an interesting game, although an almost certain victory for Libério.
Brantavilla v. Concordia
These two teams are tied for the first place alongside Libério. Brantavilla would be first in the standings if they had not lost against Chevrona earlier this week, a really hurtful loss, mostly because they were facing the worst team this year. Brantavilla has something to prove today and will try to do it by clinching a good position in the standings. Considering Brantavilla already has a win against them earlier in the season, it will probably be a victory for Brantavilla.
Vexilla v. Céruléa
Here is the most exciting match tonight! Céruléa is only 2 points behind Vexilla and only one of the two teams will make it to the playoffs. Although, if it is tied, it will come to the runs differential, and for now that is at the advantage of Vexilla, so not only does Céruléa needs a win but a strong one. It will be interesting because Céruléa already has a win against Vexilla in this season. There is going to be a lot of action in this match and whoever wins is probably going to head to the playoffs.

Great first day for the LCA
Yesterday was the beginning of the LCA, the most exciting cricket league in Anserisa and the teams delivered for their first day of competition.
Everyone had their eyes on the Céruléa Dukes, two-times winners in both 2018 and 2019 and are in hopes of being the first team to win the trophy three years in a row. They faced off against the Statera-Verbéra Roses. Opting to bat first, the team was able to establish a respectable 195 with only 2 wickets. They were challenged by the ST Roses but were able to get 6 wickets restraining their opponents to only 176 runs, winning by 19 runs.
2017 winners, Chevrona Aviators faced off against rivals Vexilla Knights both teams two-times winners of the trophy with the Knights batting first and establishing the mark at 134 which was easily beat by the Aviators winning by 5 wickets.
The most one-sided match of the evening was the match between the Concordia Seafarers and the Brantavilla Guardians which saw the Seafarers establishing a good 154 runs in their innings and taking the entire team of Brantavilla for a small 86 runs, taking a huge win by 68 runs.
