Aga For Prime Minister
#11

Can you please describe your past or current service in the South Pacific Special Forces or other work promoting our defender values, or, if you do not have such qualifications, can you explain why you have chosen not to participate in the Special Forces? (This can be as simple as mentioning a timing issue.)

In the past, you've said that you agree with the statement that "raiding regions is not that big of a deal". You've also said that if forced to choose, you would be a raider over a defender, but that in general you despise R/D ideology. How do you reconcile this belief with your intention to hold an office which, this term, will be principally responsible for developing and pursuing our still-new defender identity that the Assembly has mandated?

Your proposed "small step" in the post above -- forming WA blocs for the General Assembly -- would possibly give us more "experience", but it would do absolutely nothing to take charge of our defender identity (after all, they'd be GA blocs, not SC blocs). What are the small steps that you would make towards leading the defender sphere -- or do you believe that we should not be embracing defenderism yet?

How will you encourage ministers to do the clerical work? Your entire campaign, it seems, is about how you will do the clerical work -- how will that solve the issue you have presented here?

An important part of the Prime Minister's responsibilities is being able to strike just the right tone and handle the delicate balance between too much and too little action when a crisis occurs. How would you handle a high-tension regional event -- e.g. the MoRA split debate? What do you think the PM's role is? How would you have handled it the same, or differently, from Roavin?

How do you think TSP could better live up to its values?

In reading through your campaign, I'm inclined to agree with Glen. I see a lot of perfectly good things that the PM should be doing. But I don't see a platform. This reads like an app developer's list of planned updates for the next version of the Cabinet software. Some good bug fixes, some minor improvements on features, some work on increasing efficiency or a smoother UX. But it's not an inspiring plan for the next generation of the software that makes me believe it has a strong future. Plus it's missing any mention of what I, and I think quite a few of us, think is the most important needed addition to this software: a vigorous pursuit of defenderism. We have the opportunity to add that to the next generation of TSP. Minor bug fixes aren't enough this term.

I cannot always make minor and major updates. I'm usually asleep at 5am in the morning, and I am usually working at 17:00 in the evening.

I have, and will always seek to prioritise TSP's beliefs and opinions over my own in the positions that I hold, even if I may disagree with those opinions personally. During my term as Minister of Regional Affairs, I ran a consultation into what the region wants freom the MoRA towards the end of my term in an attempt to listen and change while still in my position. I have also spent the last four months trying to build up a democratic World Assembly program whose role it will be to seek the regional opinon and judgement before writing a recommendation about the WA resolution in question. I have always advocated and worked for democracy, and if elected as Prime Minister, I would seek to follow what the assembly tells me to do.

I think we should start embracing defenderism, but it is impossible until we have the workforce and people needed regionally. We need recruit more people into the SPSF to provide a larger update force, as the SPSF seems to have a relatively small presence worldwide. We should boost numbers in the SPSF through recruitment, and get people more engaged in the regional culture for defenderism in TSP to truly succeed. If we do not do this, then TSP risks becoming an armchair defending region, where we just send out flashy statements about being defender, and not actually participating in the major liberations and defences as much as we could.

I would encourage ministers to do clerical work by participating in the cabinet, discussing and participating in cabinet procedures, and to assist in the recruiting to their respective ministries by answering questions. I would also encourage all ministers to engage with the region, through the RMB and assembly debate.

I think that Roavin handled the event rather well. Basically, my strategy would just be to investigate; get people involved in a discussion around the table about how to get rid of what is causing the tension, and then present a list of changes made to the assembly.

I think the Prime Minister's role has traditionally been reactionary - the Prime Minister only comes out when there has been a major crisis or debate. While that is a good thing, I think that the position of PM should go further. I want whoever the next Prime Minister will be to take an active role in creating collective cabinet agendas; recruting for all ministries and to get experience for TSP so that we are fully prepared to continue our journey to embrace defenderism.

I don't think that being defender is about making flashy statements and showing off defenderism to GP. It should be about getting citizens to readily embrace the defender cause by recruiting people; finding people to work our defender military and boosting interest in defending while gaining experience we need to manage larger voting blocs and defender voting organisations. A region cannot live up to its values if there are only a few people who actually do the things we want them to to actually live up to our values.

In the previous Cabinet election, you mounted a respectable showing. It seemed to voters such as myself to be a real endeavour but afterwards, you told members that it was a joke campaign which was not at all apparent to those who voted for you. What is to say that you are taking this election and the possibility of becoming the head of government more seriously this time?

I don't think that the last campaign was a joke camapign ;p, I merely used the campaign to promote what I think the cabinet should work like, and what I would have liked to see in the campaign. I didn't run to win, but to make some change into how the cabinet works. If I would have felt like I couldn't take on the position, I would have pulled out, like I did in the delegate elections.

I can assure you that I am making this campaign with the utmost seriousness, and, if at any point I would feel like I am not ready to take on the position, I would pull out of the elections immediately. That being said, I do feel prepared to take on this position, which is why am I presenting myself here today.

Anonymous Question time!

AQ1) What responsibilities will you have in other regions if elected? And, how do you anticipate balancing that?

AQ2) You've stated you want to take a break from TSP, what changed your mind?

AQ3) Having had a breakdown or two over the last two terms and mentioning that you were going to leave due to what you felt were personal slights against him, how are you going to handle the very public role of PM and the issues that arise from it?

AQ5) As someone who was involved in the recent MoRA situation and a prospective Prime Minister, how would you have dealt with the issues of last term if you had been Prime Minister?

Edit: Another question!

AQ10) As the editor in chief for The Rejected Times, you are tasked with running one of NS's more prominent newspapers. How will you ensure that you can devote the time required to be an effective Prime Minister? Furthermore, will this create a conflict of interest with respect to the promotion of any kind of media effort in TSP?

Seeing that the PM race has now changed with another candidate in the Election, I hereby withdraw from this election.
