Whistleblower Protection Act
#21

It looks like either discussion on this bill is dead, or it's good as is.

So I'll motion this to a vote.

ugh I was going to reply in detail how much I hate this as written but forgot to do so. so here's the TL;DR:
  • Definition 1 is bananas, because we can just call them "officials of the Coalition" in line with other laws.
  • Definition 1 is double bananas because as stated it doesn't include peeps like LegComm or the SPSF Generals or even the Court, which is massively problematic for hopefully obvious reasons.
  • Definition 2 "preformed". hah. Ironic typo.
  • Why does definition 2 restrict reporting to a person in power? What about reporting to the assembly? What about reporting about person in power, which is really what this bill should be about?
  • We tend to use "individual" rather than "person" in laws
  • 2.4 is redundant. Because, uh, ... obviously if you do something illegal, it goes before the Court.
  • .... other things ...

Might whip up a draft later.

So, I'll just go on record here to say this never addressed many of the issues raised about this legislation.

It remains largely unenforceable and unneeded and is likely to weaponize anonymity.

I encourage all legislators to vote against the current proposal.

Oh, well, here's the opposition. That worked well.
I'll motion to cancel the vote. I'll re-motion once the Assembly is in agreement with everything (if they will be)

If I didn't know you any better, I'd think you were waiting for someone to second the vote and then bring forth this ground breaking evidence.

I've changed the draft to be in line with Roa's suggestions, but I'll post it here too.

Considering Roa said he had "other issues" with the previous draft, I'll encourage him to name them so I can fix the new draft.
