Support Dreadnoughts:
Support Dreadnoughts are a special class of ship. These ships are designed to support ground battles while still having enough punch to fight in space. These ships are essential to ground invasions. They also hold on board factories which can produce new equipment after mining operations have succeeded. This feature, idealised by Regent MacArthur, heavily increased the military's independence. However this also meant that in theory a battle could not run out of resources with these ships. It is estimated that at least 100 of these ships are needed for capturing a Stoinia sized planet.
These ships also hold modular facilities which can be deployed for firebases to deploy on planets for both military and mining operations. These could then also be retracted back to the ship, effectively bringing small military bases with them which could be deployed on planets to key strategic areas.
The first Support Dreadnoughts were refitted colony ships such as the Phoenix-class, but later larger ships were made to sustain more isolated fronts. These ships proved insurmountable in maintaining battles during the Velutarian War. Now however, many of these ships have been shifted to supporting Exploratory Fleets.

Special Forces
The Stoinian Star Kingdom's Armed Forces sometimes need more specialized troops for complex tasks. For this reason the Special Forces exist with different branches specialized for different tasks. Although the ranks of enlisted men are standardized, those of Commanding Officers are flexible and fluid compared to other branch like the Army and Navy. This is to suit the needs of each subbranch of the Special Forces with their needs.

Spartans: Elite Super Soldiers genetically augmented to become one-man armies and fight off the strongest enemies of Stoinia in 4-man squads. Results from Regen MacArthur's reign they served as Mankind's Last Defence in the Velutarian War. There is a distinction within these group. Spartan-II and Spartan-III's. Spartan-II are the first batch of large scale genetically augmented super soldiers. Trained from childhood to be the best and last hope. Spartan-III's have the same goal, but were a response to the growing front in the Velutarian War and were the more affordable option to the Spartan-II's. Over time Spartans have been streamlined with the same gear. Their primary role is to support Infantry and execute the most extreme and dangerous missions. Aside from their augmentations, they also are equipped with specialized armour designed for each generation of Spartans.
Spartan-II's now use Mjolnir-II Armour, an upgrade of the previous Mjolnir-I Armour. Meanwhile the Spartan-III's used SPI Armour, but in the meanwhile have also switched over the Mjolnir-II Armour. This armour is the best engineering the Stoinians have and has multiple layers each with their own tasks. It is connected through cybernetic with the Spartan's body and is capable to absorb both projectile and energy based weapons. These armours also have chargeable shields and capabilities to absorb massive kinetic energy. This combined with being vacuum-rated, they can survive direct drops from space to a planet combined with built-in thrusters. Their armour also recycles their fluids and prevents loss of nutrients in dire situations. As well as a hibernation mode for when retrieval can take a long time.
Their weaponry and armour varies wildly as they are free to modify it as they please, though they largely use the same weaponry as Marines and soldiers. Their amour may vary according to their preference and mission.
Spartans have become somewhat of a legend from the Velutarian War and are currently a mystery to the public. Only the fact that their suits will self-destruct near any governmental building is known. This is to prevent a military coup through the use of these super soldiers.

Cheunh Covert Special Ops: Covert Ops of the Star Kingdom tasked with gaining intelligence, assassination and creating turmoil with political effects. Most members are of Cheunh origin since they have a natural affinity to covert operations as they prefer to move behind the front lines. This pared with their armour specialized in stealth makes them perfect soldiers for covert operations. Terrans also join this Cheunh dominated department, but Terrans are mostly in charge of operations. Their armour is a direct descendant of the Spartan-III's SPI Armour, but tuned to more stealthy specifications. Though these can stand against kinetic and energetic projectiles, their capabilities are less so than SPI Armour. Instead focusing on scrambling devices throughout their armour. Even the coating and paint of the armour is designed in such a way to absorb wave based signals as to not reflect them. With these specifications, hit and run tactics are a norm with the Cheunh Covert Special ops. Most often than not, Operators execute their missions alone and rarely join up with others for a mission.
Their weaponry varies depending on their missions and are one of the few that have access to the prototype plasma based weaponry. Ranged weapons often have suppressors on them and other modifications to keep their stealthy nature. Specialists in ranged weaponry have become expert snipers and these snipers often support the larger armies in their operations. Melee combat is also an important focus in this branch and Operators can often be seen wearing knifes or other melee weaponry.
They wear signified black berets, though very few see these as they are kept as far away from the public as possible and don't share the pride of participating in parades.

Eliminator and Recon Covert Armour, the most used armour types within the Cheunh Covert Special Ops.

ODST Corps: Elite Drop Shock Troops that operate behind enemy lines in 6-8 man Squad. They are used to support the Infantry and execute more difficult and specialised tasks. In essence they are more affordable Spartans, but are dropped from orbit in Drop Pods behind enemy lines to wreck havoc and disorder. They are the airborne troops of the Star Kingdom and have specialized armour. Their armour is more resilient compared to that of the Cheunh Covert Special Ops, though they don't have shields like Spartans do. Because of their airborne nature, their armour is rated for every kind of medium. Be they cold or warm, ODST's can face anything and even to a limited extent vacuum. They carry backpacks with ammunition and rations to keep them going for as long as they need for their missions. Like the Covert Ops, their weaponry have suppressors on them to somewhat hide their presence. ODST's also carry multiple combat knives in different sizes for when they are forced in CQC situations. Their visor has many functions and has a HUD interface that help the ODST's keep track of their mission tasks as well as their squad members.
All citizen races of the Star Kingdom join the ODST Corps and gain an admiration for such an accomplishment. For ODST's are seen as super soldiers second to Spartans themselves. They have become the poster boys of the Special Forces and are wildly seen on propaganda and recruitment posters as a method to raise morale. Due to their reputation, they are often the highlights of military parades and rightfully so.

[Image: 1.png][Image: 2.png]
An ODST in his armour and drop pods used by the ODST's.

Stoinian Commando Corps: Overt Special Forces of the Star Kingdom who support the main Infantry through front-line reconnaissance, sabotage and demolition. However, they are also used for counterterrorism operations and hostage extractions. They operate in Squads of 4 members and have a focus in urban warfare, though they are capable in all types of warfare. They serve as a more streamlined force for what the Spartans used to do in the Velutarian War as they are kept only for the most dire situations against technologically superior enemies. For this reason the Stoinian Commando Corps has gained more popularity and has significantly grown in number after the Velutarian War. In the First Mardakii Crusade they became famed for their actions and bravery and have gained a similar reputation to that of the ODST.
Their armour is a descendant of ODST Armour with a focus on projectile reflection and less withstanding against thermal resistance. Their armour may not be vacuum-rated, but they have built-in filters to protect them from poison as their mission might require. Their weaponry is more sophisticated compared to standard Marine issued weaponry, though unlike ODST and Covert Ops, they don't have a focus on stealth. On the contrary they are known for carrying heavier weaponry on the open battlefield.
They are the famed green berets of the Star Kingdom and are known for bravery on the battlefield who never back down. Due to their new reputation they have a friendly rivalry with the ODST's often challenging one another off-duty.

Office of Public Affairs
Propaganda
The Office of Public Affairs is in charge of public relations within the Star Kingdom. They uphold the image of the Stoinian Military throughout civilian life with grand posters and frequent recruitment posts seen on metropolitan worlds and cities. TV adverts are also common and Stoinian enterprises have capitalized on this too, marketing their products as if made for the military and semi-military looks. The military is omnipresent on every planet to some capacity, even the rural areas. While the military only of 0.5% of the active population, many reservists serve as well in Planetary Defence Forces and this exact number puts the battle ready fighting force to roughly 5%. This pared with the extensive adverts by the Office, makes the military a popular choice for consideration. Taken into account that most Stoinians keep their physical routine from schools, where they are drilled like soldiers in physical education, many young men join the military to some extent as reservists or full active members.
Propaganda posters often boast about how the military is a centre of masculinity and where a man can stand out amongst other men. This narrative is kept even towards female recruits, but this doesn't fade their interest. ODST's and Commando's are often used as poster boys for recruitment. In times of war of attrition, the Office fully uses Spartans as propaganda tools to keep morale up and prove that the Stoinians won't lose their fight. This has proven an effective method during the Velutarian War as Spartans are never reported KIA. Even within the Cheunh Ascendancy, propaganda is used to forge a bond by arms between the two species and smoothen relations.

Music
Music is also a tool used by the Office to maintain morale and propagate their militaristic narrative towards the Star Kingdom at large. Each branch has their own band, but the most famed ones are the Royal Army's Merited Choir, King's Own Symphonic Orchestra, Marine Corps Band, Royal Naval Band, Commando Corps Fanfare and Shetland's Drum and Bagpipe Corps. These bands travel throughout the Star Kingdom to hold concerts for both public and military personnel. Often they perform the music for military parades during festivities such as King's Day, Victory Day and MacArthur's Day. The style of marches performed by these bands is often uplifting and have a bombastic characters. it is often said that a true Stoinian March has a section where the bass section has a blast. The music has become synonymous with the Stoinian military and have become an example for all bands and orchestras of school and universities, who often emulate them. Being in these bands is highly prestigious and synonymous with being one of the best musicians in the nation. Its songs are often known well by the populace at large which can be quite a culture shock for more peaceful nations.

The Joint Stoinian-Treecuu Exploratory Fleet
The Joint Exploratory Fleet is a result of cooperation between the Treecuu Star Empire and Stoinian Star Kingdom and the continuing cooperation between them. Initially the fleet consisted of scrambled ships from both sides, but Admiral Garibaldi had been put in charge of the production of a new line of ships that will help explore the sector. The emphasis of strong military vessels has shifted towards a more scientific orientation and has positions for civilian scientists when mission call for them. This has created some uproar with some military officials on both sides as this program has a more scientific focus compared to the traditional military. The program is seen as a first step into a stronger cooperation between the two star nations.
However the production of these new lines of ships haven't been as smooth as some official media outlets may say. The Treecuu still haven't committed any cloaking technology to the new ships or their superior warp cores. The Stoinians have allocated many resources towards the construction of the ships and have been critical of Treecuu design. Eventually middle grounds were struck, the form of the ships were a blend of both nations, while the interiors were built in traditional Stoinian fashion where honeycomb structures form the basic structure of the ships. Meanwhile the Treecuu have offered more trivial technologies such as holograms to the program. Even in terms of weaponry there were problems resulting in some frictions. The Treecuu use antimatter warheads which spread explosive matter-antimatter chain reactions upon impact, this model has been toned down and now explode in a more controlled manner. These lines of missiles have become known as the new Eradicator Antimatter Missiles and their use has been disputed within Stoinian military circles.

Command
Command of the Exploratory Fleet lays with Admiral Graciano Marino Garibaldi who acts as the Chief of Staff of a Joint Officer Staff of both Stoinian and Treecuu Officers. The Joint Chief of Staff consists of the following members: Admiral Graciano Marino Garibaldi (Exploratory Fleet, Operations), Vice Admiral Thaam (1st Fleet Division, Logistics), Vice Admiral Ratko Vujić (2nd Fleet Division), Vice Admiral Thool (3rd Fleet Division), Vice Admiral Cristina Lupei (4th Fleet Division), Rear Admiral (Lower Half) Icit't (Intelligence and Security).
The current headquarters of the Joint Fleet is located in the Kuatis Drive Yards on the planetary ring of Kuatis in the Stoinian Star Kingdom. Here the new lines of exploration ships are produced and are expected to complete production in seven months.
As of the moment ships are split between each nations, though a mixed command structure is used. This has proven an effective compromise for both parties and the new lines of ships are expected to operate with a mixed crew as well.

Tactical Doctrine
The Exploratory Fleet has a focus on scientific exploration. The Pathfinder and Gagarin-class ships are the main science vessels of the fleet, though they still are considered top of the line warships by both sides. They do most of the charting and studies of unexplored space ad their combat style is more Stoinian orientated as they are equipped with new generations of MAC cannons, the MAC-II. These MAC cannons are more efficient and require less length for the same velocity with which their projectiles are fired. Because of this weaponry they tend to fight at longer distances than Treecuu vessels. The Tac Candacteec-class cruisers are more combat orientated and focus on closer combat in traditional Treecuu fashion. The Tac Candacteec ships serve as a rapid response force within the fleet for when hostile forces are encountered and use retaliating force to assist any of the fleet's vessels in need of assistance. These ships have a more laid back role and tend to stay more behind and coordinate the other ships. They also serve as a central point for communication to and from the fleet.

Miscellaneous
The vessels are built in such a manner that they form a synthesis of Treecuu and Stoinian design. The overall shape has also been streamlined and no separate saucer sections are present. The interior structure is build by honeycomb structures which help with structural integrity, this Stoinian design has spread throughout all Joint Fleet vessels.

The Stoinian Foreign Legion
Th Stoinian Foreign Legion is a military service subbranch to the Stoinian Royal Army and is the newest branch of the military. As the Stoinian Star Kingdom engaged in commerce and trade with other star nations, it became clear that peace with xeno nations wasindeed possible. During the King's visit on Constantinople in the Ryccian Empire, he heard tales of the famed warrior race known as the Mandalorians. The Foreign Legion has been highly motivated to attract them into the Star Kingdom, but also serves as a way to get information on species which other governments might not be too keen to share, mostly medical files. Its main goal though, is to allow most foreign citizens, xeno or not, to fight for the Star Kingdom. It especially recruits people in impoverished conditions and those who wish for a new start. As a reward for their actions they can gain Stoinian citizenship and become integrated into Stoinian society.
While the Stoinian Foreign Legion is young, its Commander, Lieutenant General Keenan Koeremoer, is determined to make it an elite fighting force of shock troops for the Stoinian Star Kingdom. However there is an oddity considering this Legion. Legionnaires don't swear allegiance to the Stoinian Star Kingdom, but to the Legion itself. This doesn't mean they aren't loyal to Stoinia, but it is seen as a process of becoming Stoinian. To earn the right to be called Stoinian, one must make sacrifices as a foreigner and this is reflected into their oath of allegiance to the Legion.

Logo and mascots
The logo of the Foreign Legion is the Dead Man. This reflects the idea that every legionnaire is already dead when conscripted and have to retake their life through battle. Their conscription also serves as a new start in their life and in their training they are reborn as new persons. The Dead Man also holds a knife in his mouth to express the ferocity of the Legion in melee combat. This knife is also shorter than the standard issue to the Royal Army and Legionnaires boast that they dare to get closer. This logo is often worn on their helmets and khaki berets as an intimidation factor. With time this will become an essential element to the legionnaires' life and become a feared symbol on the battlefield. Legionnaires from criminal backgrounds even imprint this idea on them by tattooing the Dead Man on their body alongside their Regiment's number. This practice has also spread throughout the many ranks. Behind the Dead Man, a pattern of deep red and khaki green is used. These colours represent the blood that each Legionnaire is expected to shed for the Legion and the forgotten past most come from.
The Foreign Legion also uses an animal as its mascot, a Nuvrean Bearhound called Styx. Styx is an official member of the Foreign Legion and as he serves in combat missions as well. Each Regiment has its own Bearhound and all of them have a certain rank. Styx for example maintains the rank of Sergeant, though these ranks are largely ceremonial and as a challenge for legionnaires to surpass the mascots in rank. They also have become synonymous with the Foreign Legion as they are important elements of their parades.

Recruitment
Recruitment is done in all star nations the Star Kingdom has diplomatic ties to. However, not all species are currently allowed to serve as they prove hazardous, a logistical nightmare or due to political reasons. Current species that are barred from service in the Foreign Legion: Aryyt't (and/or other Treecuu subject species), Cariscoid (limited time), Fegnau, Kaminoan, Logiquartz, Loo-Yee, Mardakii, Marcavani, Qoxex, Sosan (limited time), Uraktiksak, Velutarian, Venterran. This means that plenty of other races, typically those with more Terranoid form, who can still serve within the Foreign Legion. The minimum age requirement varies, but the minimum for Terrans is 16 T-years and the maximum is 45 T-years. This age group is respective over most species. This lower age requirement is so to enlarge the pool from where recruits come from and often will target slum/impoverished areas in other star nations. It should also be noted that the Foreign Legion also accepts petty criminals and indebted people and start a new life with a clean Stoinian record. Drug users are also given rehabilitation upon recruitment, but if they continue their usage, they are shipped back to their nation of origin. This applies for anyone who practices military misconduct according to the Legion's Law, though an option for a firing squad is also given. This is however not advertised on recruitment ads and is rarely used.

Training and Armament
Before their recruitment, a pre-emptive physical test is held on the planet of recruitment. If they succeed, they are selected to apply for the Foreign Legion and will be subject to more extensive training. This is done through a rugged selection week on the Legion's planet of TaiSinh. Here both physical and psychological endurance is tested and is often perceived as very hard throughout the many species. While there is no distinction between male and females of a species, there are a different parameters for the many species. If they fail they can either train further in the Foreign Legion's Cadet Corps until they succeed or return home. If they fail to pass the next selection week, they are returned back home. The Foreign Legion's Cadet Corps only accepts those with enough willpower to make the sacrifices needed to improve oneself. They proceed to train the initial failures for the next 2 months and then proceed to train for a Legionnaire. The Legionnaire is put through 6 months of extensive training to become elite warriors. They are split into multiple Regiments with the species mixed over them. Each member is broken down to a Dead Man and have nothing left to live for but the Legion, this idea is reinforced in the Legion's culture and doctrine. Often the Drill Sergeants will use racial slurs to degrade every new member until they themselves have broken their ties with their past. Any sort of hair is cut as a symbol of their new beginning regardless of sex. Females are allowed to grow out their hair afterwards, but males are expected to keep a clean shaven face at all times. Recruits are also taught to shave themselves with their combat knife to grow familiar with it and very proficient with their control.
During the 6 months long Legionnaire training, the recruits are issued a standard battle armour, a dress uniform, a combat knife, an M28 Magnum Pistol and and M65 Assault Rifle. These weapons may seem archaic to some recruits, but they are a new generation of weapons enhanced with MAC-technology. Meaning that the bullets are accelerated at very high speeds and can even do more damage than plasma bullets in some cases. They learn to maintain and keep their belongings proper at all times. From there basic training starts with the climbing of mountains to shore invasions. Parade drills, parkour, fist combat, shooting, knife combat, urban combat, ... Nearly every aspect of ground combat is seen during training and are expected to be mastered to some degree. All recruits are put through the same tests regardless of species, race or sex. This is to strengthen their bond as new brothers and sisters in arms. As they do their basic training the overseers will look for character traits for leadership and promote recruits accordingly. They will even instigate fights between recruits to see who comes on top and how they react. This creates a clear hierarchical structure nearly identical to the chain of command and is highly respected by all recruits. As they progress through their training, they may specialize in different styles of combat and even familiarize themselves with new weaponry. After their training, the recruits become full Legionnaires and can even start training to become an officer within the Foreign Legion.

Legionnaire Culture
The Foreign Legion has grow to have its own distinct culture. Because of the troubled nature of the recruits, infighting is common with new recruits. However the Stoinian Code of Honour is held in the Legion and contrary to the rest of the military branch, duelling is common and a way to standardize infighting in a controlled manner. Knife or melee combat is the most widely used duelling combat in the Legion as they prefer to get up close and personnel during quarrels. Only wounding the opponent is allowed and killing him through any form results in the killer being put before a firing squad. Betting on these duels, although in a grey area in military life, is accepted by the Legion's Command. The Legion also receives shorter knives, in part to be more proficient when shaving, but also to train the Legionnaires to fight up close. This has resulted into a superiority complex as they dared to come closer than the Royal Army at large.
A strict doctrine of anti-racism against member species is held in place and any physical actions based on racism is handled by corporeal punishment. If members continue their racism and refuse to adhere to the Legion's Code, they can be put in front of a firing squad. This has been a problem in the beginning as Ryccian Terran supremacists didn't conform, but this was made clear as roughly 200 of the supremacists were put in front of a firing squad as they were instigating acts of violence based on racism and refused to conform to the Legion's Code of Conduct.
As new recruits start to integrate, they will often clash with older Legionnaires who will try and instigate fights with them by using racial slurs and physical intimidation. This is to test the courage of new recruits and even if they lose a battle, they gain the respect from veteran Legionnaires and come closer to be considered brothers and sisters in arms. This process may seem brutal at times, but it is very distinct for the Legion.
Order is a highly valued aspect of Legionnaire culture and those who disregard it are often shunned for their views. Going against it or undermining it is dealt with through corporeal punishment and for the most extreme cases even a firing squad. The Legionnaires know this as this signed a contract when they apply and are often taught Legionnaire Disciplinary and Honour Codes throughout their training. War crimes are often taught to the Legionnaires and scolded for thinking otherwise to prevent them from doing it, however the collection of war trophies isn't prohibited by the Legion.
However, the most important aspect of Legionnaire culture is their undying loyalty for the Legion. They have all grown new lives as Legionnaires and have risen from their Dead Man state. This aspect is omnipresent in the Foreign Legion and most noticeable on their badges and logo, but also in their creed before they go into battle. Here, the idea of them being a Dead Man is reaffirmed and only regain their right to live after they have claimed victory for the Legion.
Creed: "As of this moment, we are all dead. We go into battle to reclaim our lives. For the Legion, our brothers and sister. This we do gladly, for we are Legionnaires and victory is life!"
This indoctrination with achieving victory, has lead the Legionnaires to become ferocious shock troops who will stop at nothing to gain their right to live again. This loyalty for the Legion isn't without its critics however. Many claim that this nature of the Legion doesn't guarantee the Legions loyalty to the Stoinian military, but this is debunked as the Legion is under command of Royal Army and the highest officers are indeed members of the Stoinian military and required to take that oath.
When the Star Kingdom goes to war against another star nation, the Legionnaires will be asked if they wished to return or remain and continue their path towards a Stoinian citizenship. More often than not, the Legionnaires choose to stay as they have been indoctrinated in their new way of life and often have nowhere also to go in the first place.
The Stoinian military also provides the Legion with their own entertainment. Most commonly cigars, but also infrastructure to make their own magazine, hunting privileges on TaiSinh, cooking courses, fishing pools, bar games and even financial bonuses at times. Alcohol is mostly reserved for special occasions. In many ways the Legion functions self sufficiently with members rotating different duties such as cleaning, cooking, patrolling, ...
However, a large chunk of the Legion consists of Ryccian Mandalorians and their culture has influenced elements within the Legion's culture. This is due in part of their rapid rise through the ranks, only topped by the 15 Seridans. While the official anthem is indeed To Serve the Legion!Mandalorian culture has given an unofficial anthem as well. This unofficial anthem is called Vode an, a popular war song in Mandalorian culture meaning brothers all. The lyrics have been adapted somewhat to fit the Legion, but it is always sung in traditional Mando'a tongue. This song is sung by the Legionnaires before going into battle and reaffirms their shared bond as brothers and sisters in arms.
Even the Mandalorian sports game Get'shuk has become a favourite pastime of the Legion. Get'shuk is a more aggressive form of football as players are allowed to handle other players limbs other than their feet while also allowing aggressive manoeuvres like in rugby. It seems that this Mandalorian culture is there to stay within the Legion.
This rise in Mandalorian culture within the Legion has also had its conflicts as they wanted to wear their traditional Beskar armour. Because of this the Legion allows members to keep limited personal objects to keep a tie with their natiom of origin. If this armour is pure enough in Beskar, the Mandalorians have the option to use it in battle as is as long as they incorporate insignia of the Legion or reforge their armour into a more traditional Stoinian form. Off-duty they are free to wear their tradition and often wear it when duelling and sparring.

Lyrics of To Serve the Legion:
The regiments are like a wall,
Marching straight and tall,
And the banners rustle proudly.

Commander and private,
We share the same fate,
We're all in this together!

Serving the Legion,
Our common destiny,
Serving the Legion,
Our brand new family,
They fear us for our success
And fear our war cry.

Shoulder to shoulder
March we Legionnaires.
May the road get harder and ever slower,
But we will, by winning every victory,
Serve the Legion!

We fearlessly attack,
And honour the Legion's flag,
And our brothers and our sisters.

And if trouble's near,
Then we will volunteer,
For we know what we're fighting for!

Serving the Legion,
Our common destiny,
Serving the Legion,
Our brand new family,
They fear us for our success
And fear our war cry.

Shoulder to shoulder
March we Legionnaires.
May the road get harder and ever slower,
But we will, by winning every victory,
Serve the Legion!

The regiments are like a wall,
Marching straight and tall,
And with us is the whole Legion.

And he, and you, and me -
The Legion's family,
And that is why we're strong!

Serving the Legion,
Our common destiny,
Serving the Legion,
Our brand new family,
They fear us for our success
And fear our war cry.

Shoulder to shoulder
March we Legionnaires.
May the road get harder and ever slower,
But we will, by winning every victory,
Serve the Legion!

But we will, by winning every victory,

Composition
The Foreign legion takes its composition and command structure from the Stoinian Marine Force as they wish to emulate their status. This means that a clear command structure is always present and heavy usage of experienced veterans to guide the officers. However, most officers of the Legion come directly from the lower ranks and the need of experienced veteran soldiers is somewhat downplayed. The Foreign Legion is currently fully operational and counts 42.848 active members consisting 10.153 Mandalorians, 26.870 Ryccian Terrans and 1.860 Ryccian xenos (856 Velpus, 436 Vonmisans and 568 Vurbentans) from the Ryccian Empire, 962 Limavu, 733 Teetac, 1.256 Drakari Terrans, 524 Drakari and 472 Yapatha. The Ryccian Empire is by far the most dominant presence within the Legion compared to the rest of the star nations. This has made the Foreign Legion the most diverse unit within the Stoinian military. Most officers are still Stoinian members of the military, but as the Legion lives on, it will be made solely out of foreign volunteers. This has been spearheaded by the Ryccian Mandalorians which have started to fill many officer positions only surpassed by the 15 Ryccian Seridans, the first volunteers who have climbed the ladders and all have an officer position. Together they form a prime example for recruitment propaganda in other star nations.

Stoinian Citizenship
The reward for each Legionnaire is a full Stoinian citizenship after a 5 year term. After that, they can start a new life as free citizens in Stoinian society and receive a lifelong pension (~ $1.850/month for the lowest rank and increasing with each rank) for their service. If they are wounded in battle, they gain the right to apply for citizenship as they are worthy citizens by blood. If however it is revealed that this has been faked, they are put before a firing squad and disgraced of rank. Other Legionnaires will also look disgusted at those who do such things and no longer consider them their brother or sister in arms.

The Stoinian Royal Army and Royal Marine Force
The Stoinian Royal Army is the ground warfare component of the Stoinian Armed Forces. It serves as the main line of planetary defence and planetary invasions. While the distinctions between the Royal Army and the Royal Marine Force seem blurry, there is a clear distinctions between their focus. The Royal Army serves on both offence and defence, being the brunt of planetary warfare. The Royal Marines are used as elite shock troops who specialize in offence. This take on offensive specialization is due to the fact that the Royal Marines are subject to the Royal Navy and are frontline soldiers. The Marines are also used for boarding actions in certain cases.
Typically the Royal Navy will penetrate a planet's outer defences and eliminate primary targets through bombardments. It's then that the Royal Army and Marines are sent in to seize the planet and take control over it. While the Royal Army will be used to hold control, the Marines will more often than not, be carried away to help with the assaults of other planets. This has lead to some tensions between the two fighting forces, though this rivalry is friendly and not at the same agitation as with the Navy.
The Royal Army's mascot is the Stoinian Lion, while the Marines have the Neerian Bulldog. This is in part with their perceived ideology. The Royal Army will fight as fiercely as a Stoinian Lion and the core of Stoinian bravery. The Royal Marines have a different and more aggressive approach to all aspects of life. It's therefor told that when going in combat, they fight as unwavering Bulldogs who will stop at nothing until they claim victory.
Planetary Defence Forces still do exist in the largely centralized Royal Army. These Planetary Defence Forces are mostly filled with reservists who train once every two months and maintain a battle readiness for defensive purposes. While this appears as little training, they rely heavily on the Stoinian Physical Education which teaches Stoinians to maintain a general fitness and general knowledge on weaponry. Planetary Defence Forces aren't normally used outside their own planet and are dedicated with the protection of their planet. The reputation of these PDF's does vary a little, but still are on par with the Royal Army as their Commanding Officers are semi-retired Officers from different branches.

Recruitment
The Stoinian Armed Forces' Office of Public Affairs is present on all planets through propaganda as well as recruitment posts. Typically a large amount of posters with heroic deeds on them is showed. As 85% of the Royal Army consists of males, the recruitment ads heavily emphasize that the military is where on proves to be a true man. More often than not, the brutality of war is also shown to further drive the narrative that one truly becomes a man in such an environment. This also applies to the Royal Marines, but they are shown with a more elite status where only the strongest survive.

Training
Once recruits join the Army, they are transported to East Point. East Point is the military academy planet of the Stoinian Armed Forces. Here recruits will face a two week initial training period to divide them into recruit regiments. Recruits from all over the Star Kingdom are mixed together and all males are required to be shaved bald. This training is challenging, even for Stoinian standards, and is a meticulous process. Once a recruit fails, he can be discharged, though they are given options to join other support branches for the Army.
After their completion of the initial training weeks, the recruits are officially conscripted and given the rank of Cadet. Then a rigorous training program of around 8 months is followed by the Cadets training with all the armament of the Stoinian Royal Army. This training also focuses on combat in multiple environments, making sure that Cadets achieve the status as elite warriors. Royal Marines follow the same path, though their focus is on space combat as well and have a more rigorous training regiment.
Officers and other ranks also require training on East Point, the training times do vary from 10 months to 4 years.

Armament
The standard issued armour of the ground forces, otherwise known as Stoinian Combat Armour, is an advanced armour. It's primary goal is to protect the soldier and this is done through multiple layers. The outer layers of the armour are designed to deflect any sort of kinetic weaponry like bullets, shrapnel and even blades. The inner layers of the armour are designed to absorb and disperse any sort of energy, thermal and plasma weaponry.
Stoinian weaponry is diverse for all combat situations ranging from energy beams to combat knives. Stoinian weaponry is however still heavily based off ballistic weapons. While this may appear archaic, looks deceive. By now the Stoinian military has adapted MAC technology to smaller weapons and as a result the bullets achieve much higher speeds well over the speed of sounds. Every soldier is issued a combat knife and an M28 Magnum Pistol with their uniforms. Soldiers of the Army receive the M65 Assault Rifle, while the Marines receive the X55 Battle Rifle. Depending on the training and combat situation, soldiers can switch to more specialized weaponry like machine guns, submachine guns, marksman rifles and shotguns. The M41 SSR and M6 Nonlinear Rifle serve as anti-vehicles weapons. The M41 SSR uses rockets which can lock unto target, while the M6 uses a large plasma beam and was introduced with Spartans and thus gained the nickname of "Spartan Laser".

Usage of animals
While animals are often used as mascots, the Royal Army still uses some animals for cavalry warfare. Most notable cavalry animals are horse, Suph horses, tauntauns, varachalls and kybucks. The cavalry has become largely a ceremonial branch since the Armoured and Mechanised Forces have taken over their field, but in rare occasions they still are deployed.
Other animals are often used directly in combat to detect bombs or even as combat elements themselves. These jobs are largely done by hound species such as the Neerian Bulldog and the Nuvreon Bearhound.
