[Re-Discussion]Commission of Inquiry Act, 2020
#11

Hence there is nothing useless of the act

I still don’t understand what’s the need for a law on commissions. Your main argument seems to be that they could be used for anything, but by that token we could also give the Prime Minister the power to make decisions on anything...or just let our government institutions do their work as they normally do. You still don’t explain how the region is benefited.

It would create employment and like I said earlier govt can make commission on any reason of public interest.

But why? If we want a history project the MoRA can set one up. If we want to investigate a crime the Court can handle the case. If we want to settle a post-liberation dispute the SPSF can consider the matter. What makes your idea of a commission special? What’s the added benefit that can’t otherwise be obtained?

See the Law Standards Act gave standard on how to write laws and this bill is giving standard of how can the govt form commission, how can govt make sure that a commission is closed [CTE]. What are the punishments if someone abuses the civil-servant working in the commission [for a decision of commission]. And many more standard are provided under the act. Also I give a 100% guarantee that hardly any members would join this project of writing history.

But somehow they would join a group simply because it’s called a “commission”?

No one is going to vote for it. You've got several decades worth of collective TSP experience here explaining to you why this is a flawed idea, including multiple former heads of government. You might want to try listening to them rather than insisting that you know better than everyone else.

While I do think that some sort of way to have a special investigation rather than the High Court, especially for GP matters when you'd want results ASAP, could be discussed, this bill is too wide ranging and, like Omega and the Chief Justice said, reads like a solution looking for a problem.
Whole India, I'd recommend you stop trying to push this bill and instead look for other areas of issue to be legislated upon. Or, if you're really interested in this idea, talk to people like Omega, Roavin, and Kringle. I am sure they could help you.
