[PASSED] A2007.01: Amendment to the Elections Act
#1

Yo!

A motion for an amendment to the Elections Act has been seconded.

The voting period will be for five days, since this is an amendment to a constitutional law, concluding on 8-4-20, or 4 August 2020, at 21:17 pm UTC. Since this is an amendment to a constitutional law, it requires a super majority of three-fifths to pass.

The debate thread can be found here.

Vote by poll if possible. If you can't, post either "aye," "nay," or "abstain" in this thread. Doing both will have your vote discarded.

The proposal:
Amendment to the Elections Act Wrote:
Elections Act
An act establishing elections for office

...

Vacancies of Office

...

(2) A special election will be held for vacancies arising within the Local Council, if more than half of the term remains. If less than half of the term remains, or the position is vacant due to nobody running in its election, the Delegate may appoint a replacement until the next regularly scheduled election.

(32) Should the office of Delegate become vacant, the next person in the line of succession will become interim Delegate until the next regularly scheduled election. If no person qualifies for the office, then a special election will be held.

Also, since the amending of this constitutional law would affect the game-side, as it would put the power of vacancy regulation back to the LC, who are the 'home governance' of said game-side, it would need to be debated and passed by the game-side if this proposal is passed by the Assembly.

Since this law past through the Assembly, it will have to be submitted through the game-side to officially become law.
