A Swifty Chair

Well, I did a thing. So, here is my campaign. I'd tell you to read it but I can't tell you what to do. So go ahead, and do whatever you fancy, wether that is read this or go back to reading something else which is probably more interesting than this. Anyway, I'll try and be swifty and not take up too much of your time. Jokes aside, here is my campaign (ps: pl0x vote for me thx):

Who, am I:
Well, if you don't know me, I'm a new and up and coming TSPer. I joined NationStates in May 2020 (a little under 4 months ago) and have been active ever since. I go by the name "swifty" hence my discord username (SwiftyGamer#9602). I am active in every ministry including OWL (Office of WA Legislation) and the SPSF. I am active everyday on the both discord and the forums. Although I don't post all the time on the forums, I never go more than a couple hours without checking them (except during the night because i am sleeping smh ._. ).

Reliability and Transparency:
After having been appointed as Cabinet Advisor to the current Cabinet for the rest of their term and having worked first hand with both the Prime Minister, Prarie and the three other Ministers, I've seen how important transparency is. It is important for the citizens and people of the South Pacific to know what their government and what they are doing and not for them to be left out of the loop. Having read Prarie's Prime Minister campaign multiple times and seeing how much he stressed the importance of transparency I've really come to see how isolated and restricted the Assembly is. No weekly updates, no agendas, no detailed plans, no nothing. So, the first thing I will do if I get elected, will be publish an agenda laying out my plans and what I will do in great detail during my term as Chair of the Assembly. I will go into more detail regarding some of those things in the section below. This also leeds me to my second point, Reliability. What is reliability? Reliability is keeping your word, it's completing things before or on your deadline consistently, it's constantly changing your plans and adapting to the situation in a way that people can trust you to do well. Well, when being the Chair of the Assembly, reliability is arguably the most important thing. Being able to consistently keep track of things and not forget anything, monitoring proposals to see whether they have been motioned to vote, regularly updating the Assembly spread sheet (more details below), keeping track of new proposals, the list goes on and one. I have experience with all of these things because as a Senior Staff member of The Office of WA Legislation (OWL), I had to regularly monitor the the WA Forums, looking for new proposals and opening OWL votes on them. This can be compared to monitoring for new proposals and making sure that a proposal is legal. I also had to regularly check the OWL region's RMB and update the OWL votes sheet with the votes and opinions from TSP citizens. This can be compared to updating the Assembly spread sheet as well as updating the law archives. And finally, whenever a new proposal reached the WA floor, I had to put together a recommendation compiling opinions and analysis and post it a quickly as possible. This can be compared to monitoring for proposals being motioned to vote and opening new votes on proposals as soon as I can. Reliability and Transparency will be 2 of my keys points if I become Chair of the Assembly.

What will I do:
Well, now that I've talked a little bit about that, what else will I do? Along with the regular jobs of the chair, here are a couple of things I want to achieve during my term as Chair:
  • Legislators Digest
So, at the beginning of @phoenixofthesun14 's term, she tried to do something called The Legislator's Digest. Although she had to stop it for personal reasons, I would like to bring it back and have future Chair's also make their own. My plan is to have short recaps of all the Proposals that were introduced during that week, a quick mention of any proposals that were voted on during that week as well as some stats regarding the Assembly during that week such as (feel free to suggest more):
    • Number of New Proposals
    • Number of Total Posts
    • Number of Illegal Proposals
    • Person with the Most Posts and how many
and then compare them to previous weeks and see how things have changed and evolved.

  • Updating and Maintaining the Assembly Spread Sheet
Personally, when I first became Legislator, the first thing I did was look for some sort of archive of all the votes because I was interested to learn about the voting process. That's when I found the Assembly Spread Sheet and I was all happy and eager to learn. But then I saw that it had not been updated since early 2019. So one of the things I will do as chair is update and maintain that spread sheet because I think it is a very valuable resource.

  • RMB Assembly Updates / RMB Integration
After having seen the whole debate on the discord about integrating the RMB , I've come up with an idea. My plan is to post Assembly Updates on the RMB as well as including a link to applying for Legislator Status and promoting the advantages of being a Legislator. This way, people on the RMB might be like: "Hey, this assembly thing looks cool. Imma go apply!".

  • Chair "Twitter" Posts
Having helped write some of the Cabinet Twitter posts and seen how good of an idea they are, if elected, I would like to post these "Twitter" posts as Chair regarding the publication of The State of the Assembly, the publication of a Press Release, the publication of an edition of The Legislator's Digest, a new proposal being submitted and the opening or closing of a vote. It will be a new and fun way to publish announcements regarding the Assembly.

  • Bringing Back Press Releases
Another I'd like to do is to bring back press releases. Like half way through Phoenix's term as Chair, press releases were kinda just abandoned and none have been published ever since (Assembly Press Releases obviously). I'd like to bring these back and use them for important announcements such as Appointments of a new Deputy Chair or Advisor, new milestones or the endorsement of a proposal. These releases are a good way for legislators to see what is happening in the Assembly.

  • More thorough and detailed State's of the Assembly
Last but not least, I would like to set a new standard for the content and release of The State of the Assembly. I think that the current State's of the Assembly's are very plain and short. I'd like to write a little paragraph on that month in the Assembly, basically a summary of that month's happenings, I would also like to have something similar to what I would do with the Legislator Digest and have some monthly stats about the Assembly such as (feel free to suggest more):
    • Total Posts
    • Total Proposals
    • Number of Proposals that have been voted on
    • Number of Illegal Proposals
    • Most Voted Proposal (The Proposal that received the most total votes)
    • Number of Passed Resolutions
    • Number of Failed Resolutions
    • Who authored the most proposals and how many
    • Most Active Member (Who posted the most times during the month)
    • Most Active Proposal (Which proposal had the most posts)
    • Total Legislators
    • Number of New Legislators
    • Number of Leaving Legislators
and compare them to previous months.

Conclusion

Look, at the end of the day, your the one who picks who you vote for. So just vote for whoever you want, just keep in mind that if you vote for me, you won't regret it.

As Chair, would you commit to maintaining outward neutrality on regional issues?

I will neutral however if I do have an opinion regarding a specific part of a proposal, I will voice my opinion although all of my duites as chair will come first.

Chair is probably the most taxing job in TSP, and you're a newer player - how confident are you that you can handle all the work it takes to be a competent Chair?

What do you see as a strength in each of your opponents?

Personally, I am extremely confident that I will be able to handle all the work that comes along with being elected chair. My reasoning is that I've been working with OWL for over a month now doing many tasks that are very similar to the tasks that the chair needs to do. I've outlined this in more detail in my campaign in the second half of the Reliability and Transparency section. Feel free to re-read it. And for the workload, I am doing online school which will give me alot of free time to do my chair duties and at the beginning of my term, to ease the workload a bit, i'm planning to take a 2 week LoA from OWL to help me settle in.

Regarding the strengths of my opponents:

Purple - From both her campaign and knowing her prior to this election, I think her strengths that she is very kind and nice, and that she is very good at welcoming new people, teaching them the basics and making them feel included in the community.

WI - In my opinion, I think that WI biggest strengths are that he is always proposing new legislature and is eager to participate as-well similarly to Purple, he wants to help newer legislators fell more welcomed.
