[DONE] Discretionary power edit: removing repeated words
#1

Using my discretionary powers, here is the edit I plan to make:

The most recent LC Constitutional Laws amendment had a typo in Article XIII Section 2 of the Charter, where there were two "must also"'s, so I'll remove the repeated phrase.
Quote:
THE CHARTER OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC
...

XIII. AMENDMENT PROCESS

...

(2) Any amendment to the Charter or constitutional laws that directly affects the gameside community or its home governance, as determined by the Chair of the Assembly, must also must also receive the consent of the gameside community before coming into force, where the consent shall not require more than a three-fifths supermajority in a vote. Additionally, the Local Council may originate amendments to its structure in the Charter, which must receive the consent of the Assembly before coming into force.

...

Now I just have to wait three days and hope that no one is going to object to this Smile

Hang on, while we're here, why does this talk about "senior or junior" cabinet ministers? I don't think this is a thing anywhere else in the law.

Article VI Section 15 of the Charter says "The Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers may elect to appoint deputies and advisors, who will be considered junior members of the Cabinet, but will not have voting rights in any executive decision."

Probably not entirely accurate to refer to them as "senior Cabinet Ministers" then, since they'd be deputies and advisors.

You can always bring forth an amendment to change that, but this thread is for my discretion edits so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I disagree on the capitalization one. Cabinet minister is not a proper title in that instance, just a noun. It's not grammatically accurate.

I probably should have looked through all of the laws before making this oops Tounge. Anyway, the Charter uses "Cabinet Ministers", so I was basing this off of that, but the Regional Officers Act uses "Cabinet ministers" (by the way, I haven't looked through the capitalization in every law yet, these are just the two I looked at just now). This is actually a good time to decide which one is right.

For now, I'll remove the "Cabinet Ministers" change so we can discuss it Smile

I refer colleagues back to the last time I made the same correction and no-one took any notice.

I recall that Nakari did notice it and say that it could be corrected by Chair discretion
