(IC) What happened to Flight HIA 402?
#1

January 8th, 2005, 1:24 AM, Kate Walker International Airport, The Federative Republic of ZhangHai.

As the items of baggage were loaded unto the plane, and the crew did their pre-flight checks. Passengers entered the plane one by one and shuffled unto their seats. The CM 8000 jetliner was due en route to Targassona, Ceretania. It was a long flight, following the equator and crossing The South Pacifican region. The adults cosied up for the flight and the children shuffled around on their seats. Cabin crew provided hot towels and menu selections to those in the designated seats, while those in business and first-class are given their selected beverage of choice, alcoholic or non-alcoholic.

The HIA 402 took off at precisely 1:41 AM and planespotters admired the vessel that took off that day, and binoculars ready, as it flew out of sight, disappearing in the clouds of noon. The trackers were available and detected the radar as it flew over the Rainbow Islands, but off the coast of the Winston Islands, the signal was gone. There was no sound of a large crash head from Finixian fishermen that are available that day, nor any reports of a request for help. The vessel vanished, nowhere to be found. The Southern Cooperation Organization along with the Southern Socialist Organization cooperated this one time and searched the plane together across its flight zone. Every vessel, modern and traditional all looked for any sign of debris or hints, yet the plane just vanished into thin air, along with it, 140 passengers and 20 crew on board.

Many theories came across the desks of flight investigators, an anti airstrike, a hijacker, or a suicidal pilot. None came slightly above complete speculation, although the intelligence community knew of one thing. There was "Treasure" in the plane, one that will change the region. Indeed, the plane had carried a large number of bank reserves, and finding them could make any seadog rich beyond belief. But some speculate of another type of treasure, one theory was that plans of a biological weapon existed inside a hard drive, and the theorists speculated such because one man held the code like a nuclear football, a transaction was supposed to be made by an unknown party until the plane was missing. Another speculation lies in the data of a certain journalist, set in a briefcase which entails every single illegal offshore bank account filled with money from tax evasion by the rich and powerful.

These are all speculation, no one knew what the treasure was, if any, and the fate of the missing plane as well as what happened to the passengers. Until one morning.

Two scientists sat in their office overlooking the beach, it would be a nice day out had it not been disrupted by the immense satellites and radars that plagued the beach. The Valkyrian government had used them as Anti-Missile radars, but admitted that they were mostly done to check the weather. The radars kept the Valkyrian enemies in check, and it was either a missile launch in the north of Cordilia, or a typhoon. The two men shuffled around bored, they had already done their report, but are told to stand by. What is there to stand by? Everything is automated already.

A final glance at the monitor had them stunned, before looking again. There was a signal off of Christie's trench, and lies a signal. A lone signal in Christie's trench that's normally identified as the black box, could it be? It can't be! That's impossible!

Within the hour, the news spread, and with it the search and rescue expedition can finally begin. To search for the wreck, to recover anyone that might still be alive, and to search for the elusive "treasure"

For the one that claims the treasure, whatever it may be, shall be powerful unmatched by their own peers.

THE HUNT BEGINS!

Rules and Objectives:
Here's a Rundown of the Objectives:

1. Dive into the deep sea into Christie's Trench.

2. Find the HIA 402 by patching any clues found regarding its disappearance (Every clue would unlock a flashback regarding the plane crash, and a new objective)

3. Find out what happened to the HIA 402 and whether or not there are any survivors.

4. Locate the "Treasure" and figure out what it is (You may speculate on the nature of this treasure)

5. (Optional) Claim the treasure as your own, and only your own. Sharing is unnecessary and sabotage can be an accident Wink

6. Promote your nations foreign policy.

7. (Optional) SAVE THE ANSERISAN HELICOPTER CREW They are alive, and waiting transport

8. (Optional) NEUTRALIZE THE SCRAMBLER USING COUNTERINTEL Countered by Tin

9. Save the Crew of the Jolly Roger and The Rombold

10. Help The Peonic Paramedics Transport the Anserisan Helicopter Crew

11. Rescue the HMS Sonny to the Peonic Docks

12. Find what caused the destruction of the Izaakian RV Yellow Submarine

Further objectives will follow

Here are the Rules:

1. For every action your nation makes, I will be rolling a D20. I will only roll once per action. No redos, no retakes. An example of an action is "I send my nation's troops here." You can have multiple actions per post, but, do not expect all of them to succeed.

2. The events resulting from those rolls will be posted here.

3. Actual Roll results will be posted on the OOC thread.

4. Have fun!

December 4th, 20XX, Pendragon Port, Valedilene Island, Peonic OT Zhanghai

As the Peonic Expeditionary Forces arrived from rounds from The South Pacific Special Forces, a new expedition was made by the Peonic Navy. The RPNV Raika was a research ship that was tasked in mapping out Zhang Hai, the island nation needed more space to grow and perhaps artificial land development may be the key for further economical opportunities.

But with the recent finding of the HIA 402, which was a Peonic airliner, the government of Huawan spared no expense in ensuring the plane is retrieved. Huawan Intercontinental already had two major crashes in the span of 20 years, one of which took the crown prince's life, and the CEO, Lady Pa Ling, knew that any impact on the company is irreversible, but at least she can finally make things right.

None of these came to mind on the captain and expedition leader, Captain Denning Ko of the Peonic Salvation Corps, he needed to know what happened, no matter what, even if it would drag him down to the deepest oceans.

The RPNV Raika set sail off the coast of Monteros, Winston Island, where they shall meet others for a brief

Being so close to the Christies Trench and wanting to assert its presence in the region, it was decided by the Republican Commission to command the Anserisan Navy and its flagship, the Geese-class, 1500 tons FAA Princio-Stéphano I, a 100-metre patrol ship equipped with a helipad to help the international effort in locating the plane and hoping that whatever lied within the plane could help reinforce the economical position of the small nation in the world.

Stationed in the port of Libério, the ship, after its mobilisation, started its journey to Winston Island.

The Kingdom of Izaakia sends a flotilla of imperial navy search and rescue ships including deep sea research vessel known as the Iceberg.
Additionally the IAF have sent planes from Montacia to scan for wreckage and any remaining signals.
A private consortium of Izaakian businesses has also been hired to search for the plane, with remit to act independently from the government.

Turn 1: A nice day for a sail

The tides were with them, a smooth sailing by the RPNV Raika has gotten the Peonic Expedition allowed for fast journey. The expedition is set to meet the others in Winston Island in 4 days time.

The Anserisan navy sailed along, also supported by the weather. The Anserisan expedition will arrive at Winston island in 2 days time.

In the Kingdom of Izaakia, surprisingly many private corporations decided to check the plane and a swift permit from the Izaakian government was given. "No expenses spared" and the Private consortium are given a hefty amount of cash from crowdfunding to search for the missing plane, they were allowed to sail their expedition and are expected to arrive in 5 days time. The imperial flotilla has sailed two days earlier than the private consortium but was exposed to a couple of strong winds and tides. They will arrive at the same time as the private corporation, due north to Winston Island.

Meanwhile, the planes are launched from nearby Montacia to scan the wreckage, they uncovered that the signal is truly the HIA 402, the wreckage sunk deep, located in the undersea. A couple of scans reveiled an undersea terrain as well as the place where the signal is strongest. They receive a map of the scan which shows the signal, but it is unknown whether or not the Izaakian government would share this vital piece of information....

Rainbow Sea, 4th of December, 20XX

(Play music for effect)

[Image: viruses-hijack-deep-sea-bacteria-at-hydr...140501.jpg]
As the RPNV Raika sailed past, Captain Ko looked at the weather from the stern. It was nice, the seas were pushing them along, and not against the ship. He saw the seagulls that fly past and the dolphins that jumped along. It was a good day. Sailors were looking at the sea while chatting with their loved ones, it would be a while until they are sent home. The standard issue tablets was certainly beneficial for this, and sailing by the rainbow islands provided enough signal to communicate home.

The Captain closed his eyes and felt the breeze of the sea of the South Pacific. The smell of wet seaweed, salt and the air of winter. Dancing around him to welcome him back from the trecherous waters outside the region. He tries to enjoy the moment, but to no avail, his mind clouded on the expedition and the effort they would have to do.

Christies trench... The deepest point in the South Pacific and home of the unknown. The high and mighty volcanoes of the Rainbow Island was birthed from this very point, the most volatile subduction zone. He remembered the colossal impact it had in Erinor years ago, how the mighty Erinorian capital crumbled to rubble due to the high velocity of the zones. The area is a bed of earthquakes, tsunami and typhoons, so one needs to thread lightly.

Captain Ko expected that the winter would also prove a problem. Icebergs from the north pacific may slide unto the area and halt the expedition. Icebergs seem small but they are monoliths that submerged down in the depths. Needless to say, these are harsh and fierce waters. Not to ignore, the creatures that lurk beneath the trench.

The South Pacific is a region that's defined by the sea, and if any Paeonisian seafarer would know, is that the sea is kind and ruthless, unknown and certainly surprising. Not even the Sedunnic cartographers or the Brutland and Norden oceanologists could fully data the creatures down under, and legends from FiHami certainly makes it a chilling tale.

The ship continued to sail, carrying the two sonar drones to locate the signal of the black box. The researchers inside the RPNV Raika continued to work through the night piecing together what's known once more.

The Royal Eareamian Space Agency (RESA) is government owned. The Eareamian Government has thought about using it to aid those searching for the crash. We have temporarily borrowed B.U.P.S. to search for the wreckage.

Action 1 IAF fly helicopters from IAF Montacia to each of the islands in the search area in order to land troops to search for parts of the wreckage.

Action 2 IAF airdrops bouys across the search area to monitor the ocean currents.

IAF promises to share information with the international community and the consortium of Izaakian businesses within a few days once prevailing current data is available.

After the news of Anserisan plans to "assert its presence in the region" reach Holy Free, not to be out done. His Majesty King Trinal IX has allowed the H.M.S. Sonny of the Royal navy to depart to Winston Island. Her Majesty Crown Princess and Heir Presumptive Tailna wishes the crew with good luck in a speech. The ship is now heading for Winston Island.

With the presence of navies around the Rainbow Sea to find this one wreckage, the Ministry of Transport is interested.

The Ministry of Transport, in conjunction with the Besernian Civil Aviation Administration, the Health Sciences Authority, the Besernian Navy and the Besernian Coast Guard decides to launch a search-and-rescue operation, named "Operation Ivliria".

BCGS Tarinia, BCGS Nordphalle and BCGS Gottfried, all 3 which are Adravia-class1 patrol vessels and BS Ostrovia, an Ostrovia-class helicopter destroyer2 departs and are now heading for Winston Island.

Meanwhile, the Besernian Civil Aviation Administration are working together with Brient Altfilrus University to locate and investigate the sunken plane with the information they have, including a map census of the sea floor of the Rainbow Sea and direct access to what the ships and carrier detects.

Private companies are also interested, and with permission from the government, one of them has headed for Winston Island.
