My Grandeur

My Grandeur

Howdy y'all! If you are someone who knows me and knows what I'm about, then you can mosey on down to my big plan, but if you don't, then let me enlighten you on who I am. Though I have been on NS for three years, and have done a few things in TSP, I recognize the true time at which I began my path in TSP's government is January of 2020. From that time to current I have gone through so many positions, met new friends, lost old friends, and met up with folks I haven't talked to since I started. With that in mind, I present to thee my dream of MoM.

TSJ World

This is my grand project for MoM. What it will do is bring the foreign news of other regions to the people of TSP! That way, the people of TSP can get their world news without having to frustrate themselves by attempting to find the location of said foreign news.

Similar to Llama-Drama, it will be concise and to the point detailing only what is necessary to understand the events that have transpired. However, while Llama-Drama had an unbiased view of events, TSJ World will have a defender-bias. This is because

a) we are a defender region
b) it's no secret that we are defenders
c) 'cause we 'fendas

And since this is world news, I will be actively working with the MoFA, whoever that will be, to retrieve the information using our ambassadors.

This is more to put it out there: TSJ World will not replace the monthly TSJ. The TSJ will always have its regular, monthly publication detailing regional news, events, cooking, and the like.

In summary, TSJ World is bringing foreign news to TSP and allowing for different Ministries to work together on a project!

The Inactivity Issue

It isn't a big secret that MoM currently doesn't pump out articles at high speeds, but it isn't because we don't have enough members; in fact, we proudly sport 15 members. One of the issues is that we don't have anything to write about. All who are in MoM are capable of writing an article, but they're just not that many regional stories to cover.

In opposition to this, my TSJ World plan should solve this crisis of inactivity. Not only will we have plenty of stories to choose from, but we will be bringing activity to the Ministry of Media!

Now, I know someone is going to say this: are you sure it isn't RL issues that are causing the current inactivity rather than a lack of coverage, and how will I make sure that it doesn't affect MoM this time?

In terms of the former, you are right. RL did play a factor in the inactivity issue. This was one of the reasons why the recent TSJ Monthly took so long to get out. However, what I did notice is that the monthly issue seemed to be put together within a week before its due date rather than being planned all throughout the month. So it's not necessarily RL that got in the way, but poor project managing. To put it all together, the poor planning of the issue resulted in its creation being right up against the due date; and with the pressure from RL, it got subsequently delayed.

And no, it's no fault to Islas. Islas set that date of publication in order to get it out before the month's end, which is the norm. What caused the poor planning was the transition period between Farengeto and Islas where the writers of MoM didn't know what to do. And, if you are wondering why the individual members didn't take the initiative and check the due date on the Ministry Trello board, which is what the Ministry uses to set due dates for articles, it was bare on that matter. As such, we didn't have a clear goal that we could have independently worked on, and we couldn't really set it on our own since that job was/is designated to the MoM.

So here's what I will do differently:

a) The Trello Board will become the go-to if a member does not know what to do
b) Due dates will be promptly placed on the Trello Board so that everyone will see it
c) All articles will be placed on the Trello Board with their due dates well in advance (as in immediately as the story is heard)

In terms of the latter of the question (it was about how I will prevent RL issues from coming affecting MoM), I said this last time and I will say it now: I can't. RL comes up and flares up in ways where I can't completely deflect it; and as a Minister, I accept that. However, I hope that my above points will help prevent RL from becoming too large of an issue in my Ministry.

MoM and SPINN

I'm going to make this short and simple: SPINN is independent and MoM is the voice of TSP.
There will not be any conflict between the two, and we will work together to better each other and our goals. Period.

Statistics

I will be continuing statistics in MoM! Y'all can expect bi-monthly surveys covering what the people of TSP think about the Cabinet, the Ministers, the Delegate, the Chair, the direction of Cabinet, and the LC! These survey dates will of course be posted on the Trello Board.

Real-Time

Okay... Real-Time during both Farengeto and Islas was a major bust. Practically no one was talking in that channel; no one knew what Real-Tim was; no one had any ideas for a topic, and no one knew what was happening.

I will try to keep an open-mind if I were to restart Real-Time, but until I see a way where I can effectively manage it and keep up & running and staff-ed, I will not make any campaign promises for it.

I would question the assertion that there's nothing regional to write about. There are many debates going on in our community right now that could be written about: regional theme/identity (swirl vs traditional), Cabinet accountability and transparency, World Assembly reform, etc. Any time there's a debate in #legislator-lounge, maybe someone in the Ministry should be flagging it for a possible article, for example?

On to a different question....

Currently, there are no posts at all the Ministry subforum. The January TSJ release was never posted in the TSJ's subforum, either. It's actually pretty hard to find! How would you improve on organization and distribution in the upcoming term?

A) True, I apologize for my mistake of making such a broad assumption of regional affairs. However, as a remedy to this, I would have multiple people assigned to monitor the legislative debate and see what can be written on it.

B) I will make use of our newfound Wiki and have a designated section for all TSJs ordered by date. However, until the Wiki is fully operational, I will create a thread with the links to all our TSJ dispatches that we have done so far. I know this may seem controversial, but I don't plan on using the Media thread for much else except posting the links to our TSJs since MoM has a whole channel they can use.

1A. Islas gets the job done.
2A. Islas gets the job done; but during the construction of the recent TSJ publication, I noticed that he/she/they didn't accept my help in the formatting of the publication despite my asking. Plus, the Ministry has a severe lack of specified deadlines, which causes confusion whenever we have to choose whether we should cover this new story or cover the one that we have been previously doing.
