[IC] - The Southern Gate Festival 2021
#1

Karl Feldberg, the organiser of the Southern Gate Festival, takes one last look at the stage, where soon the winners of this year's film awards will be announced. The stage is closed off by a red curtain yet, but it slowly opens, when he gave the order to do so.
"Alright! Let's test the lights, let it flicker.....", the lights start flickering. "Now focus on the canvas and show me that animation for the winner announcement....Perfect!"

He was content with what his team has done. "Start the AC and get some fresh air in here, then we can start! Are the journalists out front already?"
"Yes, Sir. All the important newspapers and TV channels are standing at the side of the red carpet and are awaiting the arrival of our guests", one of his assistants answers.
"Well, well. It's only a matter of minutes until the first guests arrive. Let's get outside, so we can greet them with a glass of champagne after they survived the flickering lights of the media!"

He chuckled as he was not sure, if he missed standing in the spotlight or whether he hated the paparazzi and journalists enough to be grateful that he is "just" an organiser of the biggest cultural event Pacifica has to offer in recent times nowadays. He walks through the Gottschalk Theatre to the front entrance of the building, getting out his golden keys and unlocking the doors. When he opened them up wide, he already saw the first limousine halting at the front of the red carpet. Between the actor/actress or director and him is just a stretch of 200 m, a wall of advertisements on the right, a crowd of journalists, paparazzi and screaming fans on the other with a bit of security everywhere keeping everyone in check.

Now it begins - the film festival of the Southern Gate Festival 2020!

Everyone was here, all hands were shaken, everyone had a glass of champagned or orange juice at their disposal.

"I want to speak a toast to everyone, who made 2020 another great year for our industry.
Art is one of the most important sectors in all of our lives. There is no other sector, which can make as many people think about their role and behaviour in the world, while it entertains the very same people. No other sector, except for sports maybe, which brings people better together regardless of their age, status and class.
I'm happy we are able to celebrate these facts in here today. I wish all of the nominees best of luck to be awarded with their price and a spot on the international lineup of Risa. Cheers!"

After Feldberg said these words and he and his guests guzzled down their drinks, the stage's curtain opened up and a man with a guitar would be in the middle of the stage. The man was around 35 years old, had long brown hair tied into a pony tail, had several colourful festival bracelets on his left arm and a plain black bracelet on his right, wore a checked green shirt with the top two buttons open and a white pair of jeans. He played a chord to gain the audience's full attention. He seems to look down to his guitar the entire time, never making eye contact with the audience.

The LED-screen behind him lit up and showed his name - Lukas Ygat. Then another line of text appeared: "He is blind, but music is still one of his compassions. Art is for everyone".
The screen faded to being black again and the man started playing his beautiful song.

When he finalised his last chord, he took a look at the stage finally. The guests were confronted with the glazed crossed eyes of the man and there were indeed quite a few people, who were shocked at first and forgot, they wanted to applaud this man for his achievements. The majority did not forget about it though and at last the wave of joy, amazement and pride swallowed everyone. The entire hall was cheering.

"Thank you", Ygat said into a microphone, that was brought to him by Feldberg on stage. "Lukas Ygat", the moderator emphasised another time and the cheering got louder once again. Then both men went down from stage and the LED-screen played a video, which explained the voting processes for all prizes, which will be awarded tonight and that introduced all nominees from the film and series sector.

The awardation ceremony took always place in the same manner. Some actor or director from the big "Gianniwood" studios went on stage and they talked about their career and their view on art. Then they had a golden envelope with the winner inside in their hand. They opened the envelope and read out the winner, some trying to build up suspense, some not trying at all. When the winning production was read out, they congratulated the winners and invited them on stage, so they can have their thank you speech, before the organisers would move on to award the next prize.

The winners in each category were:

Best Film - Sedunn
Best Advertisment (Film) - Anserisa
Best Director (Film) - Sedunn

Best Series - Phanama
Best Advertisement (Series) - Besern
Best Director (Film) - Phanama

When all prizes were awarded, Feldberg once again got onto the stage to congratulate all winners once again.
"Thank you all, that you participated in the cultural year 2020. We sincerely hope to see you with new productions in these halls again next year!
I wish you a good night and, of course, hope you'll have fun during the after-show-party, which will be celebrated in here on the first floor. I hope, I'll see many happy faces up there having a good time!"

Everyone applauded for themselves and the winners once again, before one after the other got up to be as quickly at the buffet as possible.
This was the film festival of the Southern Gate Festival 2021.

It is the 30 January 2021, 20:14 h,  and we are watching the Gianlucian "BUS TV" channel, which will broadcast - in cooperation with Audit - the first ever Pacivision Song Contest, almost always only called Pacivision. It is organised by the Pacivision Executive Board (PEB) and is planned to happen every year from now on.
At the moment GI-Land is still watching the evening news, but after that the entirety of Pacifica, millions of households, will see the first song competition this globe has to offer.

"The next edition of BUS TV News will be broadcast after Pacivision at around midnight. I wish you a pleasant evening and much fun", the anchorman said before the outro of the news was played.

The outro was followed by the opening video for the contest. A young woman with curly dark blonde hair is running along the beach and harbour promenade of Südtor with a huge smile on her face. She takes looks to her left and right and sees more happy people everywhere as well as the stars moving with the rhythm the string players are setting. At 0:30 min we get a short glimpse on the string players, before she finally seems to have catched up with her friends, she meets at a park. They seem to discuss something until suddenly the camera swirls around at 1:00 min and we see different situations, where she and her friends are trying to convince people to follow them. On public places like in front of the Königspalast, in a university hall, in Südtors main station - everywhere. At 1:30 min everyone gets up and grabs a flag from weird places - from under the desk, behind some trash bins, out of the ocean, from a ticket machine - and follows them. The flags were from all kinds of countries, whether they are participating this year or not. GI-Land, Sedunn, Huawan, FiHami, Eareamland, Izaakia - actually virtually all countries were represented.
The masses followed the friends towards a venue in Südtor's Gianniwood, everyone is inside around two minutes into the video in and cheers on the string players we have seen earlier as well as some dancers and a DJ. At 2:22 min the camera focuses on the DJ and with the last "Dum-dum-dum" the Pacivision 2021 logo is shown to the audience.

After a whoosh-sound effect we are inside the Südtor Concert Arena with lots of people applauding and cheering in real life as the stage is lit up and a new song starts to play.
It is the instrumental of "Alles neu" by Peter Wolf, a famous Gianlucian artist, who is getting on stage and suddenly chiming in with his singing.
After the first chorus the first five countries and their countries are called up. The line is always the same: "Welcome [Country]", with the "Welcome" being said in the native language of the country that was called up. Before the artists were shown walking towards the backstage area via the stage, some choreographers were swinging light sticks in the colours of the countries' flags to create some sort of optical illusion:

The countries were called in the order of how they will appear throughout the competition:

01 - Besern
02 - Snolland
03 - New Itomorii
04 - Sedunn
05 - GI-Land
06 - Mauquibie
07 - Beepee
08 - Izaakia
09 - Eareamland

Then the hosts were welcomed and got onto the stage. It was a duo consisting of journalist Lukas Rahgen and actress Lisa Steinburg. "Good evening, Pacifica!"
They welcomed the audience and explained the concept of the competition before elaborating how to vote for songs in the competition.
There will be points from the audience of every participating country and every participant also has a jury, which ranks the other partaking countries in the categories "Best Performance", "Best Lyrics" and "Most Original".

When they were finished, they iconically said: "Let the Pacivision Song Contest BEGIN!"
Then the first so-called "postcard" was starting to roll. This is a video, which welcomes the next country on stage. This year it showed the artists having a photo shoot at different special locations in GI-Land.
Besern's Spigele was having her shoot at the "Democracy Park" in Gianlucastadt.
Before any the performance starts, there will always be the "stage ready"-sound:

Besern - Hofflicht (Light of Hope) by Spigele
Genre: Orchestral synth-pop/Musical
Language: Austral

Six artists, including Spigele and three from the Obraviastadt Polytechnic, are on stage. They perform, what they are singing about and are supported by cartoonish visuals in the LED-background. Sometimes a play of lights will emphasise certain lines of what could almost be considered a full musical.
The song of Besern exceeds the 5-minute-mark, which - according to the PEB - was only allowed, because a song coming later is far away from being 5 minutes or even 3 minutes long.

Snolland - Goodbye to Yesterday by Fada Rat & Lika Vahê
Genre: Pop
Language: Austral
Postcard Location: Old City of Französisch Ort

New Itomorii - POP/STARS by X/DA
Genre: Pop/EDM
Language: Austral/Korean

Postcard Location: Ship on the middle of the Atlantic Strait
Additional Information: OOC: Please start video at 0:40 min

Sedunn - Never wanted this to end by Illkrom Blenienn & Rila Jok
Genre: Folk-Pop
Language: Austral
Postcard Location: Freudstadt Harbour

GI-Land - Engin Miskunn (No Mercy) by Hater
Genre: Industrial/Electronic/Hardcore Punk
Language:
Old North Almannic
Postcard Location: Neptune's Mountain (highest peak in GI-Land)

A red ball signifying a meteorite is travelling from left to right throughout the performance, while the dancers copy their dance moves from the video.
The main vocalist is at the front near the audience and shouts out his message, always travelling over the stage to the dancers and back to the audience in the pauses, where he doesn't sing.
When it is the side vocalist's turn to sing, the camera focuses on the very front of the stage, where he hid the entire time in the dark. Now the lights are focused on him and he calls upon doomsday. At the climax he gets onto his knees and sings together with the main vocalists his last few lines before "dropping dead" just like the other dancers do too. The meteorite fades and the main vocalist looks victorious into the audience.
The drummer watches the spectacle the entire time from one of the bridges, but throughout the song he moves towards the main vocalist, kneeling on his side and looking up at him in the end, with his eyes full of hope.

Mauquibie - Et je pleure (And I cry) by Orang-Orang
Genre: Electro-Pop
Language: Mauquibian/Austral
Postcard Location: Downtown of Südtor

OOC: Song starts at 0:57 min

Beepee - Take my Heart with You by Florence Munthly
Genre: Pop
Language: Austral
Postcard Location: Atlantis Main Station (and partly on an underground train)

On stage is Florence Munthly in a red evening dress with a deep plunging neckline. She doesn't move or dance really. The stage light only brights her and her dress up, while she sings with lots of power and emotion.

Izaakia - Montacia Fall by Landing Emraldis
Genre: Electro-Pop
Language: Austral
Postcard Location: Area in front of the Königspalast

Additional Information: OOC: Please keep in mind, this song is satiristic and was performed prior to Izaakia quitting the referendum.

The artist and background singers/dancers are dressed in mock-up Izaakian military uniforms and black-white pictures of war combined with colourful pictures of Montacia in between make up the LED-screen show. In every chorus fire and sparkles are emitted. During the bridge inflatable tanks - on the left of Izaakia, on the right of Montacia - are warring each other by throwing soft balls at one another. Eventually the Montacian tank will collapse at the end of the song and the singer will mischieviously smile into the camera.

Eareamland - Overworld by Maple
Genre: 8-bit/Gaming Sound
Language: None
Postcard Location: Fish Market in Angelhaven

Lyrics: None
OOC: You need to message Maple to listen to the song.

Maple has a mask covering his face on. He gets on stage after the stage-ready-sound and presses a button on a keyboard, which will start the melody. He sways sarcastically with his hips throughout the entire song, before bowing down and leaving the stage again.

"Those were all songs for tonight! Now it's your time to vote and decide, who is the winner!"

To be continued...

The time for voting has come and the populace in all participating countries chose their favourites. They called the corresponding phone numbers for each performance, sent text messages to show their support, the hashtag #Pacivision2021 was one of the most popular tags on Stream that night. On YouWatch people shared clips of Izaakia's performance and laughed or criticised their satirist performance.
But not only the common folk had the destiny of these artists and who will become the first winner of such a music event in their hands, no, the juries also worked on their rankings and discussed, who they thought provided the best and most original performance.

All the while the viewers in the arena were greeted by other Gianlucian artists, DJs and dancers, who had the gig of their lives on this stage. The crowd was ecstatic.
After a while, it must have been an hour, the hosts of the evening came back on stage and started reading out the results of the jury votes and the televote and in the end, everyone could read the following scoreboard.

* The tie is resolved by the televote, which was in favour for Sedunn.

Contrary to the rules defined prior, the PEB has decided to open a bidding process for hosting the 2022 edition of the contest. The winner of 2021 as well as any other bidder shall have a fair shot at promoting themselves as fitting new hosts for the contest.
At the moment, Sedunn as the winner as well as Beepee and Ikoania are hoping to take the event within their borders. It'll be exciting to see, who will invite Pacifica to the 2nd Pacivision Song Contest!
Until then, we wish you a good night. Take care!
