It has an area of about 112,144 square kilometres and population of about 7 millions people. It is a developed country and has a high standard of living compared to the rest of the continent. The capital city is Vittoria, located on the Bay of Barjamos, the largest bay and estuaries of Ahuira river on the southern part of the country.

Etymology and History

The name of Costa Marila is the the Ibero equivalent of Austral "Yellow Coast". This is because at the first time the Iberos came here, the ship captain, Jasoao Martenes, arrived at the fall season, when most of the land is forested by native Beech called Macacapa. This trees, along with the white sand beach, forming a beautiful golden glow from afar, thus making the name Costa Marila which means "Yellow Coast".

The Barjo people settle this land from around 2nd century BJ and then scattered across the country. The first White people who came here is from Ibero, led by Captain Martenes, at 1758. They formed a settlement from the local fishing village called Cacamoa and then renamed it Pontonevo ("Newpoint" in Austral). The unoccupied land soon became as a new colony for Iberan Empire and then more people settled on the land, especially around the southern coast, due to the safe haven of bays, fertile land of rivers, and free native workforces. Soon most of the population, mostly natives, enslaved and colonized by the Iberan Empire.

Costamarilan War of Independence

At 1839 the Costamarilan made a revolt against the imperial government. One of the most prominent figure is Gen. Manuel Gerero, a Mixed-born. He led the 1839 Revolt and then recruit some people as a militia and then try to drive out the imperial government. This is brutally repressed by the imperial army, which led to the death of about 3,500 people, mostly Barjo and Mixed people. On 9 September 1839 the General declare war against the imperial government, marking the Costamarilan War of Independence.

For the rest five years the war happened between the Costamarilan forces and Imperial Iberan Army. At the dawn of the 15th of September 1844, the Imperial forces decisively defeated at the Battle of Santa Josa, humiliating them and expel them from this land forever. The victorious Costamarian Army then celebrate the victory by firing gun to sky, together with southern star, resulting in yellow light at night across the country, making this day called "Yellow Sky Day". A new government established the next morning and then proclaimed independence and choose Manuel Gerero as the first president. Soon after on November 22nd 1844 the Treaty of Costamare signed by both governments, ending the colonization of Costa Marila.
