CERTIFICATION OF RESULTS

OCTOBER 2021 CABINET ELECTION

Fellow South Pacificans,

Pursuant to the Elections Act I confirm that, to the best of my knowledge, the following is true:

That an election for the Cabinet of the South Pacific has been held between the days of 01 October and 14 October 2021.

That all candidates have complied with the requirements set out in the Elections Act.

That all votes have been cast by eligible legislators and have been counted correctly in accordance with the rules of Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) in the form of Optional Preferential Voting.

Consequently, and pursuant to Article 1 of the Elections Act, I, Kris Kringle, Election Commissioner, have the pleasure of certifying the following:

The persons signaled as such in the list below have obtained a majority of the votes, after all preferences have been properly distributed, and therefore are to be considered duly elected to the offices for which they ran for the term starting on 21 October 2021.

There is a tie between Floptop and Rabbitz for the office of Minister of Media, after all preferences have been properly distributed and only two candidates remain. In accordance with Article 2, Section D of the Elections Act, it is incumbent upon the Election Commissioner to select a method of arbitration. I invite both candidates to provide their own preferences within the next 24 hours for my consideration.

Following consultation with both candidates, it was decided that a coin flip would be conducted to determine the winner of the election through the Coconut bot in the public venue of the #lampshade-bar channel. The coin flip took place on 14 October 2021 and resulted in heads, the option selected by Floptop (click for the evidence of this); therefore, they are to be considered duly elected to the office of Minister of Media for the term starting on 21 October 2021.

The detail of the votes cast and the distribution of votes for each office is available in the Elections Archive of the Election Management System.

Faithfully yours,

The Election Commissioner

Would the election commissioner please provide the breakdown of the private votes?

I know at least one of my private votes was not counted.

Hi! You can find the breakdown of the vote for all elections that I have overseen in the Election Archive tab of the Election Management System. There you can see the result of each election and the breakdown of each vote by its individual code, including those of private ballots. I have just checked and all your votes seem to have been counted, but if you have seen something that I may have missed just let me know and I’ll be happy to take a look and make any necessary corrections.
