In the first breakthrough in the remoulding of Izaakias system of governance, the powers of the monarch have been limited. Under new rules the monarch may not enter the Houses of Parliament without invitation. The monarch now has no rights to command the armed forces, or to declare peace and war. The monarch is obliged to maintain political neutrality. The monarch may no longer dissolve Parliament or elect members to the House of Lords.
The powers of the monarch have been limited to the right to be consulted and advise the prime minister, and the monarch remains the head priest(ess) of the temple of Oceanus.

Parliaments have now been fixed, to 3 year periods, unless a 2/3rds vote in the house ends a parliament prematurely.

Parliament sets forward the first draft of the Act of Union. The Act formally sets out the union of Izaakia and La Montagne. The final bill is expected to be signed on December 21st, Austral Midsommar. The bill proposes the official state name to become The Oceanic Midsommar Union of Izaakia and La Montagne.

Gianlucian chancellor Kirchmann has announced, he will advise the foreign ministry to not consider the union of Izaakia and La Montagne official in any way. "La Montagne was annexed by a prime minister, whose gone rogue. The acceptance of this aggressive behaviour by the new prime minister and the elections conducted recently will not cover up this fact in the eyes of Gianlucian foreign politics."

Izaakian Prime Minister Mountbatten has condemned Chancellor Kirchmanns disregard for the right to self determination following the La Montagne elections. Furthermore, the prime minister has pointed to the high levels of economic growth and development in the first quarter since annexation, with a growth of 5% in the La Montagne economy and has accused the chancellor of standing in the way of progress and the civilisation of the Monagnese people.

The Frost Empire has declined to recognize the Union of La Montagne and Izaakia citing Izaakia’s own aggressive invasion of La Montagne by a “rogue politician”. A government spokesperson stated,

“Izaakian propaganda may mislead you into believing that the people of La Montagne chose to willingly join Izaakia, but the lack of impartial observers casts doubts on their assertions, and so the Empire will not recognize this illicit union between two sovereign states.”

The Social Liberal Party has brought in a motion to suspend fixed book prices and rather leave book prices completely to the "free hand" of the market. This move has been criticised by left-wing parties a lot. The Königspalast will make a decision on this motion within this week.

Minister-President Raymond Doumergue lost a confidence vote yesterday in the Chamber of Deputies. After meeting with the National Liberal Action leader, it was understood that a new coalition couldn't take place and that anticipated elections were the only way to resolve the situation in the Chamber of Deputies. The Grand Duke of Mauquibie has suspended the sittings of the National Assembly and is expected to launch the elections in the upcoming days.

Izaakia passes into law the devolution act, devolving Policing, Infrastructure, Health, Environment issues and education to the regional governments of La Montagne, Izaakston and New Mako, and The Izaakian Keyli territories.
These devolved parliaments will begin their first terms on Monday 12th October 2020.
Prime minister Mountbatten called this “a brave new age of liberty and democratic rights, drawing a line under the events of the recent past.”, she also announced an Inquiry into the incorporation of La Montagne into the Union.
