That team better bring a gold medal home or else I'll be in charge of making them the national embarrassment and strip their funding...

*Grumble grumble*

LeBron James, except he dropped out over fear of Zika.

Seen it too. It can actually get really exciting sometimes Tounge

Well, Venezuela still hasn't really done anything, but I have found myself rooting for other countries plenty of times. I've rooted for a Hungarian (Katinka Hosszu), an American (Katie Ledecky) and an Australian relay team in swimming, and a judoka from Kosovo (I still can't believe Kosovo won gold on the first try), and we're only on the second day!

Yay we're coming second

Did anyone else catch the US vs. Fiji women's rugby match? Quite interesting actually

Day Four update: After being badly beaten by the United States in basketball the day before, Venezuela has had another day of nothing. Our gold medalist from London, fencer Rubén Limardo, was defeated by an Egyptian, while his brother Francisco, though he managed to win against two opponents, was also eliminated. A South Korean ended up winning the gold.

In archery, one of our own defeated a Chinese archer to go into the next round of the event, but he too was eliminated, by an Australian. In swimming, one of ours got into a semifinal, but couldn't advance.

Even with this, we still have hope for a medal in boxing, as we have at least three boxers in different categories, and all of them have passed to the next round of their respective event.

Colombia's gold medal in weightlifting the day before means that there are now three South American countries in the medal table, the others being Brazil and Argentina.

[In other news, that Katinka Hosszu (Hungary) now has enough gold for a rap album cover, while Michael Phelps has enough to make a small table]

Katie Ledecky and Michael Phelps!!! Final Five!!!

RE: 2016 Summer Olympics - Jay Coop - 08-10-2016

It's been a surprising few days in tennis. Novak Djokovic, the Williams sisters (in both singles and doubles), and the Murray brothers all got knocked out.

Day five has ended, so here's my update: nothing significant for Venezuela aside from a few losses here and there, until night, when the basketball team won against China, 72-68. That still gives us hope of getting to the next round.

Colombia won another medal, this time silver, in judo. A member of the Independent Olympic Athletes (IOA) team won gold; the first one ever to do so. Argentina's football team was humiliatingly eliminated, as was Mexico's team.

Katie Ledecky keeps winning and winning.
